While I've been told that the Domes are great, I don't recommend the Red Dragon Mongolian Yurt…read more To say that my group was underwhelmed, would be a drastic understatement. More accurately, we at times felt unsafe, ripped-off and as though we were being pranked due to the numerous situations in which we said, "this cannot be real."   The things within the yurt that were broken or downright laughable were numerous: * There was an overwhelming smell of chicken manure in the yurt itself and compost outside. * None of the interior or exterior doors closed. A gust of wind, wildlife, and other people were free to enter the yurt at any time during our stay at any time. * One of the beds was broken upon arrival (the vast majority of the support bars underneath the mattress were fully on the floor or only attached on one side). When we asked about it, we were told, "you probably won't be charge for it." * None of the beds were the painted Mongolian bed that's pictured on booking sites. * Bins covered in blankets doubled as tables. * One of the exterior doors couldn't be opened as the handle came off in our hands when we attempted to use it. * Neither bathroom lights worked. * The toilet wouldn't flush (1, 2, toilet paper or not, or holding the handle down for a while). After asking assistance and were told, "that's not my job." * We were located in what appears to be a workers site/maintenance area. It felt like we were using a yurt made for employees to stay in perhaps? There was also equipment strewn about the yurt that must have been left there by maintenance. Ex: ladder to get on the roof. Outside, were various cords, pallets, broken down machinery and other equipment. * There was garbage on the floor from previous guests. * There were no chairs outside (as there was at other, smaller yurts) so we sat on the edge of the deck. * There was a large pile of mulch outside our front door, along with garbage and boulders that I can only assume previous guests used to keep the doors from opening.   I'm quite confident that I could go on, but it's getting comical at this point.    Our belief is that your 3.9 rating on Google reflects a number of friends and family making recommendations and that the rating will continue to drop as guests experience what we did.  Highly recommend avoiding this booking.

Disappointing Stay - Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront…read more My wife and I hadn't been back to Sydney in nearly 40 years, so we were excited to return last weekend to reconnect with friends and family. We booked our stay through HCI, using some of our points. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready. That was the first red flag. The lobby furniture was noticeably worn and tired-looking. Once we were finally able to check in, we noticed smudged paint around the door and wall of our room. Inside, there was a gap between the hallway carpet and the tile in the suite -- signs of poor maintenance. Still, we decided to stay. That's when we discovered that the toilet didn't work. We contacted the front desk and were told the maintenance staff was unavailable -- and that we'd need to use a plunger ourselves. Seriously? No one ever showed up, and no plunger was provided. We were forced to use the lobby restrooms, which were in even worse condition: stall locks broken, sinks that didn't drain, and stained porcelain everywhere. We informed the front desk that we had lunch reservations and would be returning around 1:00 PM. We asked for either a working toilet by then or a new room. We also made it clear that if neither was addressed, we would not be staying another night. This is not the level of cleanliness or service I expect from Holiday Inn or IHG. I tried to find a way to contact Holiday Inn or IHG directly to provide this feedback, but had no luck -- so I'm sharing it here. Hope this helps others. If you do stay here, lower your expectations.

I don't recommend walking in front of the hotel with dogs on the sidewalk though. The grass isn't cut, and there is trash and who knows what thrown in the long grass in front of the hotel. Loved the bed, the pillows, the soaps and the staff. We enjoyed this hotel so much. I could see the Big Fiddle at the dock from my window! So wonderful to watch the glow on the water change over the course of a few days. Morning, afternoon, evening, night. This place is also very central to many good places to go - like the Governor's Pub across the street with live music every Saturday night. And the Cidery a little ways up the road - live music on Sunday nights. My dogs and I enjoyed our stay very much. 100%. Loved this place. Hope to go back some day. ALSO - it was interesting to stay here for a few days and see how the port changes when there is a ship in the port or not. How busy it can get, how quiet it can be, what the locals do differently when there is no ship in port. It was all very interesting in early June, 2024.

This is one of the worst hotels we have stayed for our Maritime tour. If I could give 0 stars for…read morethis place, I would have. We were welcome by Donna (staff) and there's nothing welcoming about it. She hurriedly talks about the hotel info but it's more of a mundane task for her instead of being an enjoyable part of her job. Downsides: Accommodation -We were placed in a room that is dated, dingy and smells moldy/musty. -Floors have several stains in them (see pic) and the carpeted floors were uneven and makes squeaking/creaking noises when you walk on it. -We were informed that we have a waterfront view which is partly true. When you're in the lower level rooms, your view will be obstructed by trees /shrubs so it is very unlikely you will see a full view of the Bras d'Or Lake. -Outlet plugs were limited and situated in very hard to reach places. If you didn't bring a power bank, your electronic devices will be nowhere close to you. -Washroom is very small and taking a shower is very unpleasant since it's slower to drain and basically you're standing in water. Dining -Place is very remote, not a lot of places to dine and no shops close by. It will take you more than 20 mins to walk to the nearest restaurant and 5 to 10 mins by car. -That left you with no choice but to dine in their restaurant called McCurdy Dining Room that has limited choice of menus. Food is mediocre and very expensive for a rural place. Seafood chowder is watered down, not a lot of seafood in it and a little bit spicy. Their Seafood Pasta is bland and has more noodles than sauce/seafood. Same goes with their Chicken Parmesan Pasta. You also have to wait for a long time for your food as they're understaff and trying to accommodate more customers that they can handle. -Breakfast was included when we booked our room. It's a buffet style and you get the basic breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, etc. Upside: Nothing good about this hotel and wouldn't even recommend this to my worst enemy!
