Marin Catholic High School is a Catholic college preparatory school located in Kentfield. The school size is around 715 and the average class size is around 25 students.
I attended this school for the full four years of my high school experience and graduated recently. A normal student here is a privileged white male/female who is upper or upper middle class. If you are not an athlete, you will NOT fit in. The kids judge and the majority of them think way too highly of themselves. It was also so cliquey. Most people are in their own groups that are very exclusive. Some of the students are friendly and our nice to everyone, but the majority of them are backstabbing judgmental kids who downgrade the people they "think" are below them. A really weird mixture of kids.
The academics here are strong. Most of the teachers care about how well you do, but there are a few older teachers here that they just cannot seem to get rid of. The rigor of all my classes have helped me for my new career as a student. I am grateful that my many hours of hard work have paid off for me now.
Community service is required, only 100 hours to be completed by the end of the four years. I do believe that this is good because it gives students a new experience that they are not used to serving or assisting. Also a class retreat is held each year. The most memorable of the retreats is the senior trip called Kairos. A very spiritual retreat that bonds yourself and classmates closer to one another.
The campus is also very nice. There is a newly added state of the art building with a new cafeteria and classrooms. There is also a theatre, and if anyone thinks they are in for a good experience with drama here, you are sadly mistaken. The chapel is beautiful. You really only go there if want to attend a morning mass or during Reconciliation.
I hope that the kids here learn that not everyone is "pretty, popular, and perfect" in the real world like all their friends were. read more
