He can be shy, but he quickly formed strong bonds with his teachers and made friends faster than we expected. Within the first week, we noticed a real shift. He became more confident, independent, and better regulated at home. It truly felt like he had been longing for something he finally found. The school's emphasis on rhythm, storytelling, singing, nature, practical work, and the seasons suits him beautifully. He especially loves starting each morning with a short run near the ancient oak tree before circle time. The time spent outdoors has been incredibly grounding for him. The campus spans ten acres, with plenty of space for the younger children to explore and a separate area for the grade school students. The parent community has also been a wonderful surprise. Families are welcomed with coffee and tea at drop-off, which creates space to connect with other parents and the staff. There are also parent groups, music evenings, lectures, and seasonal festivals throughout the year. Most importantly, our child is genuinely excited to go to school each morning. As busy working parents, we feel very grateful to have found this school. We would wholeheartedly recommend Marin Waldorf School to families looking for a warm, nurturing, and thoughtfully run early childhood program.

Like so many Bay Area families we have no family support…read morestructure here, so choosing a preschool became as much an exercise in researching early childhood education philosophies and the quality of the staff and facilities, as finding an environment that aligned to the type of community that we wanted to foster for our family. Who would become our adopted FR-AMILY, if you will. ;) RVNS is unparalleled in this respect imo. There is a true sense of inclusiveness and belonging, of high-touch/low-pressure engagement between the teachers and staff, the children, and the amazing families who enroll. RVNS has that special something that is so hard to put words to so I encourage you to schedule a tour and experience it for yourself. Just be forewarned...if your child is anything like mine you'll have a hard time getting them to leave after that tour! :) Also worth noting that during the Covid-19 era RVNS has masterfully embraced the heightened safety guidelines without losing any of their special sauce. They've made adjustments to their programs to allow for small pods, maximum time outdoors, and implemented new mask and cleaning protocols without in any way alarming the children. This is for the school year 2021 - 2022…read more There are different experiences for each student here. Some kids can have a relatively smooth experience with minimal friction. But on the other hand if you're perceived as different - you your child will be a target - which is NOT RIGHT. There are some very disruptive kids who are yelling out VERY inappropriate things (sexual, derogatory, etc), thus disrupting class for the rest of the students. And the teachers glaze over them and nothing is done. Bullying is also allowed - despite the fact that there is a policy saying that its not. Teachers/After School supervisors (DXL) do nothing to prevent the harassment/bullying when its clear that a student is being targeted. Students are allowed to continue with no repercussions. If its is brought up to these authority figures - they sweep it away - saying that they are learning their limits. But one has to ask, at the expense of another students well being? And yet nothing is done to help prevent this. Students routinely yell out racist rhetoric, and discriminate against students they perceive as different. If the student is "in" with the teacher - the bullied student is not believed. To top it off - there are teachers who participate in this harassment - blatant body shaming from some the PE teachers, and force competitions in an unhealthy way (one student is the best - you should be like them and not be lazy). There is also gender discrimination - where they blame female periods for the physical issues that may occur. These kids are going through changes and SHOULD not be shamed for things that are happening with their body. Lastly even some of the admin staff are very rude to the students - when they come in sick - they believe they are faking it and tell them to deal. There is no kindness from them. I will say, that there are some teachers and admin staff that really do care about the kids, but its overshadowed by negative. Things need to change. While I understand there is only so much that the school can do, there should be better measures to ensure mental health a TOP priority (especially in the current climate we are in).

I'm not sure why some reviewers are complaining about food, its free food that parents don't need to prep to make the night before. We ourselves sampled it, its comparable to airplane food i suppose but its free and we don't need to pack lunch for kids, which is a big win, Our kids are super picky but never complained about the food, just the selection on some days. Mr Bronson (3rd) and Mrs Goldman (1st) left very positive impressions on my two daughters. In the 3 years my kids attended this school, i never saw any fights or bullying and the yard watch people are very attentive. Big kids seem supportive of the smaller kids. Test scores on GreaterSchools is low and mostly due to language barriers, but otherwise our kids thrived here and met good friends. We didn't get a sense our kids were held back at all for how the class helps with ESL students.

My non-exclusive list of factors includes the students, faculty, administration, and parent community. This school does a great job in each of these categories. Extremely supportive administration and many great teachers (especially first, second, third and fifth). We did have a poor experience with a fourth grade teacher that tended to scream rather than correct - but she is no longer at the school. I strongly recommend Strawberry Point School.

Teachers are welcoming to parents and grandparents. Consequently, there is a great deal of family involvement in the school and activities. The are well organized for drop-offs and pick-ups of students. The twice daily automotive parade of cars are dispatched quickly and efficiently. We are very fortunate to have Glenwood as our elementary school.
