Maybe it's a girl thing, but I find myself drawn to clothing. In particular the vintage kind. heeeellllloooooo swwwooppp! I was so excited to find swop! Love that I can swap my old for new. Woo hoo!! Just set off Hindley Street, you will find the store down some stairs. Lucky I saw the sign. This set up is a good size, split into two rooms. What is great about this store (wait for it boys...) is that you will find an almost equal amount of mens and womens clothing here. I was actually pretty surprised on the mens clothing selection. So awesome! As for pricing, not too bad actually. These are good quality brands. They do not accept any "fast fashion". So that means, no cotton on, valley girl or supre. Phew! This totally reflects on what you will find here. Winning! The staff here are really lovely as well. Not pushy or intrusive. They welcome you and are happy to answer questions. I love feeling comfortable to browse and not feel pressured into buying. Looking forward to bring my first batch of clothing here to see what it is like to swop or sell. YAYYYYYYY!!!

I actually…read morenever knew it existed until the other day when I walked past and a Salvos Van was out the front. I am so glad it was parked out front otherwise I would have sent on not knowing about it. This Salvos is not massive, but it is very well stocked and must be known well by the locals. They had a heap of donations waiting to be sorted out front. That is always a good sign, it means their stock changes regularly. Fresh stock means good finds! Inside the store is well organised, shelves of glass ware, crockery and pottery is around the back of the store. Items seem to be matched in types, which is nice if you are looking for something in particular. There are so many shoes in this store! Racks and racks of them. Really nice designer ones too! There are a lot of clothing with tags still on and in good quality. That is a rare thing as well. I think that it must be the area, the locals are more of upper middle class to richer families. The staff there are so lovely too. I was looking for a butter dish and the lady went out of her way to try and help me find one. We did not have any luck, but she offered to pop my name on a list in case one came in! That never happens at a thrift store. What amazing service! Be sure to stop at this store thrifties! You will be pleasantly surprised!

One of the main advatages of this store is that it continues to be priced incredibly cheaply. When I was there yesterday, all clothes were $1 and all soft toys (of which there was a huge selection) were just 50c... there were even a couple of gorgeous hand knitted ones which were no doubt worth quite a bit more! Even without this unbelievable sale, the prices seem to remain much smaller than is commonly found these days. There is a reasonable selection of books and homewares and tonnes of clothes and shoes, although some of it is quite worse for wear. Well worth your time if you like a rummage - but not worth your while if you need it to be a little easier.

The Red Cross 'Two 8 Four' store is situated in the heart of Adelaide's Rundle fashion strip, amongst high-end fashion labels and cafes. New on the scene, this shop is filled with vintage treasures scouted from thrift stores for charity. A pair of unused heels for $20 or scarves for $3.50, a faux fur vest for $20 and more keep me coming back here, plus the Four Seeds brownies and the days when Veggie Velo appear specially to cook me a burger for lunch. I'm not a good shopper at the best of times, but when I get overwhelmed by so many vintage and seconds dresses, wooly jumpers, cheap handmade jewellery and hardly worn shoes I tend to give up quicker than actually buying anything. My tips for the serious shopper? - Go late in the afternoon when the stalls start selling off stuff at $5 to $10 - Don't go with friends, you won't see them and can rarely fit 2 of you walking side by side down the isles - Work out the standard price of things and don't go over. This isn't the place for $55 jumpers when you can get $20-30 ones 3 stalls down. - Bring cash! Very few stalls (if any) have card facilities. Held every fortnight in summer and the once a month in winter, this is a wonderful place to come for a late Sunday afternoon shop and bargain hunt.

With all good intentions of shopping very specifically for a leather bag I managed to walk away with 2 bags, a pair of shoes, a scarf and a skirt. At this point I had to be reminded that I needed to pace myself! A wonderful array of new and used items at very competitive prices are sure to tempt even the fussiest. Why would anyone ever pay full retail? Gilles Street Market in a wonderfully friendly and relaxed environment which reminds us that a retail experience cannot be compared with on-line shopping. Sure there's the thrill of an on-line bargain but can you also get live music, a DJ and scrumptious food as well as friendly service, a bit of bargaining and a unique way to spend a Sunday? I don't think so and I'm obviously not the only one!! The only downer is that there could be more stalls selling to guys. There's an opportunity guys to make some quick cash - invest in a stall and clear out your wardrobes. Or for the enterprising better halves- raid the wardrobe on their behalf and split the cash!!

Ideal Shoe Repair performs a great service to the local residents, workers and passers by as they cut keys and repair leather goods and the prices are reasonable. Besides selling hand bags they also sell lugguage and accesories like belts, shoe laces, shoe inserts and scraves plus jewellery and umbrellas. Being a dealer in leather they also sell leather protection such as polish, sprays and sealants for leather and suede, even motor bike accesories. Service is fast and friendly and keys are cut on the spot unless there's a few to do and depending on their work load, but overall a great long standing shop which has recently seen a facelift.

They stock a great collection of Aussie and global fashion, latest trends, pieces inspired by, or straight from, the national and international catwalks. So yes it's high-end clothing galore, but what I really like is to touch up the House of Harlow accessories. This is Nicole Ritchie's retro inspired jewellery collection that has a cool edge to it (fun fact: I had a passer by moment in LA with the lass when she was knocked up with her first kiddy). It's ridiculously expensive for non-precious metal, but considering it's modern vintage it's not really going out of fashion anytime soon, see it as an investment. In a nutshell - exclusive brands!
