This was my first experience in an authentic French creperie and I couldn't have hoped for a better spot. Even though it's literally across the street from the most famous tourist attraction in Angers - Château d'Angers - it's tucked away in a little alley that makes you feel as if you've stumbled upon a superb secret. Even our friends who've lived in Angers for many years didn't know about it.
Upon entering, I was awestruck. While the sizzling crepe griddles caught my eye immediately as the smell of all that butter filled my nose, I was completely enamored by the very unique interior which appears like a museum for nautical treasures. After speaking with our waitress, we learned that the spot was formerly occupied by a cabinet maker which created the very unique interior space.
But the crepes far out shined the interior. We had one savory and one sweet crepe each, accompanied by cider as we learned that you should drink while consuming crepes. My savory crepe was with mushrooms and my sweet was with caramel. Both were perfectly crispy and butter soaked. Though I easily could've eaten 10, I restrained and consumed only a respectable amount of crepes.
This is the perfect place to stop over and replenish yourself after sightseeing at Château d'Angers. Don't miss it! read more
