I came back about 2 weeks later [this was during the holiday season and we spoke about when I needed the dresses, when I would be able to pick them up, etc. ] and she asked me to try them on again to see if they were to my liking length wise showing the quality and pride she takes in her work. She charged $60 per dress but it was well worth it. I wore the dress to my cousin's wedding in January and got so many compliments and it wasn't dragging on the floor!

I said let me try Guilderland. Nobody had zippers. Y'all blamed it on one thing or another or they weren't open, one blamed it on COVID , so I thought that's my last chance and she had a drawer full of zippers!!! Came out with a couple matched it up. It was fabulous. I was so happy! A week later picked it up. You wouldn't even know that they were changed. I recommend the Urban Tailor on Western Avenue. She does everything for alterations. Never going back again, they can't follow simple instructions. They also knew I was upset when I picked them up and offered no discount for their mistake. I don't recommend going here.

I can say now that the experience getting measured, picking the options was pleasant and easy with no pressure. Staff is open and friendly. I dealt with Kim and she made me very comfortable with my purchase. Will be giving them more business if this works out to my satisfaction. Will update then. Jacket turned out nice, fit was very good, quality of construction was above average, but not stellar, fabric is durable and still looks good after a year of use.

I also asked them to fix a tear, clean up a stain, and condition my beloved leather bomber jacket. The person I spoke to was very interested in the coat, we chatted a good bit about it, and she assured me it would be well taken care of. A couple hours later, she called and informed me that they'd noticed that an inside panel at the back of the neck was also quite damaged. She wanted to make sure I was aware of this (I was) and assured me that they would do all they could to repair this as well because "I know how much this coat means to you." I didn't think this patch even could be repaired, which I why I hadn't mentioned it--to have it be noticed and addressed with such kindness means a lot to me. Professional, friendly, thorough, and kind. I'm looking forward to working with this business for a long time.

Quite decent dry cleaners tucked into the somewhat inconvenient corner shopping plaza by Balltown…read moreand Nott, across the street from the Niskayuna Co-op. We've used them four or five times now after having an awful experience with the other nearby dry cleaner, and so far so good. Things have been clean, on time when promised, haven't been ruined, and the pricing isn't bargain but it's fine. I give them extra credit for knowing their limitations: another piece that had been ruined by the other cleaner was in an uncleanable condition, and they admitted as much before taking our money to try to clean it. Places that do the cleaning themselves tend to know this stuff much more than the ship-off-to-cleaning-plant storefront operations. We haven't tried any tailoring/alterations here as yet, but they do them on-site. I'm giving them four stars within the category of dry cleaners largely because every other place has been a two or a one thus far, so you figure within same-class they're well above average.

We didn't have time to take it to our home tailor (who initially altered it to add cups), so we needed someone who could help us same-day. We called Erica's Tailoring and the man who answered said he didn't have a tailor in that day, but that he could do it for us if we came by. Initially we were a little hesitant because of this, but we didn't have many options for our timeline so we decided to trust the mostly positive reviews and give it a chance. I'm so glad we did! The gentleman was very kind and would not accept my fiancee's money at all for the repair. We had taken out cash to bring based on the reviews here and he refused even a tip, so we are happily leaving a positive review, at least, in exchange. He was quick with the mend and it seems to be as good quality as our tailor back home. This place really saved the day for us!

I rarely write negative reviews but I relied on the position reviews of Mo to try her tailoring…read moreservices and I am very disappointed. I had her alter a pants suit, among other items, that needed to be taken in quite a bit. She did ok on the pants (though I had asked her to try to fix a bit of bagginess in the seat and they are still a bit baggy there). But her work on the suit jacket is atrocious. There are three seams down the back and she apparently only took in one and so now the two sides of the jacket flare out like some weird peplum instead of laying flat. And I had her take in the waist of a pair of pants and she didn't tell me that they would be too wide in the leg without taking in the legs as well so they are also not wearable. And to boot, the pressing by the dry cleaning I used through her was disappointing as well. And I had already had her fix something else on the jacket that was unsuitable after the initial tailoring but now I do not trust her to fix the jacket and will be taking it elsewhere. I think the earlier proprietor was named Anna, but the current proprietor is Mo.

They're conveniently located just off exit 2 on i-87, with plenty of parking, and very convenient hours. The communication was excellent, as was their knowledge of styles and clothing. I followed their advice on the alterations, and the clothing fit perfectly for the event. Pricing was, while not the cheapest, very fair for the quality of work. This is the tailor that I'll use, going forward.

I have had this done before; I have even done it myself (not rocket science...). I own other shirts from this maker, in this size, and I know what needs to be done and about how much time it takes to do the job. First, I got an argument about how much to shorten the sleeves. That settled (I was wearing the same model shirt, with shortened sleeves, and it was easy to take a measurement...), I then was told, come back in a week. Not. First, someone needed a rush alteration on a wedding gown. Then there was this, then there was that. Several weeks later, two shirts were done -- but to the wrong length. One had been started -- I took it back and will finish the job myself. I ended up paying for the two that were done wrong, just to get out of there. I like the woman; she is a nice person, we share common interests, and I would be happy to have her as a neighbor. As a tailor, however, I cannot recommend her services.

The dress also had an open back. I asked the seamstress if she could fashion something out of the excess fabric from the bottom of the dress so that my bra strap was covered. She was able to do this without a problem and the dress looks as if it was made that way. Margarita's Tailor Shop isn't the place to go for the cheapest job, but she's where you go when you want the tailoring done right. I really hope she plans to stay in business for a long time. Remember: they're still cash or check only! And I appreciated that the seamstress wore a mask (May 2021) while doing my alterations (as it's not possible to social distance while someone is altering clothing you're wearing)
