I hired this group to play as a surprise on my moms last day before her retirement at her job (a…read moreMarshalls store). I hired this group because they seemed like the best musicians and being a trumpet player myself, this was important to me. And...I was right! They are incredible players. The music was amazing. Employees, customers, everyone commented on how great they were! They were also SO, SO nice and personable. They serenaded my mom but didn't lay it on so thick as to make her super shy. They were friendly to the customers and staff. The violin player was especially funny. They looked the part with their outfits and were very put together. They were also very easy to communicate with even though I don't speak Spanish. Speaking English was not a problem which really made the process easier for me. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is soley because Michael, the group lead whom I'd been in contact with, called me 15 minutes before we were supposed to meet to tell me that he was running late because he got out of work late. Now, I'll admit that I'm a stickler for being on time as I used to be an event planner. This was a timed surprise event so him running late really had me freaked out. Luckily, the others were there on time and were able to play without him. Michael showed up about halfway through the 40 minutes that I had them playing. This was the most expensive of the three groups I talked to before hiring one. I chose them because they seemed to really have their *%&^ together. I was not offered a discount when I paid Michael at the end of the performance for him not being there for half of it (and putting stress on me right before the event) and while they still sounded great, several employees commented on the late mariachi who ran in and joined halfway through. I get it - Mariachi'ing is not your full time gig and that's okay. But as a customer who's paying a LOT for less than an hour of work, I don't want to know about your other job and I certainly don't want any issues with my event because you "got out of work late." Nothing had ever been mentioned about my start time being difficult or anything so this was a total surprise to me. Will I hire them again? Yes, because they're fantastic musicians and really, really nice people. Will I tell them I need them there 15 minutes before I actually do? Also yes.
