While at the stazione, we decided to skip all the other bars and come into this one for a quick cornetto e cappuccino. It looked so amazing that we decided to walk in. We were immediately greeted and proceeded with our orders: 2 cappuccini e 2 cornetti. You have to know that I LOVE chocolate, especially Nutella, especially in Italy. What Italian doesn't love Nutella after all? So of course, my cornetto was a Nutella filled one, just like I specified to the kind girl working there. So I grab my cornetto alla "Nutella" or so I thought..and went to the counter to wait for my hot cappuccino. I emphasize on the hot since it was a FREEZING day. So that's what you'd expect lol, a HOT cappuccino. Welp...let's just say the only hot part in it was my coffee sitting in the bottom of the cup. As soon as I took a sip, the milk was cold!! I kindly mentioned to the barista the situation. He got a little bothered and with my same cup grabbed it and took it to the steamer (yes, same cup that I was just sipping on with the same drink in it) and passed it right back to me. It sure was warm this time, however, not creamy like you'd expect a delicious cappuccino to be...anyways, enough about that! So now, after being a little upset about the cappuccino, I decide to take a bite of my delicious cornetto with Nutella. One bite ::: mmm so soft and spongy ::: two bites ::: hey, where's the Nutella? ::: ::: gets to the chocolate part ::: and it was not Nutella. It was chocolate cream! And then you wonder why I have trust issues? I was deceived by ordering a Nutella cornetto and getting a chocolate cream instead. It's not the same! ::: face palm ::: Yep.. I've just overpaid my cappuccino and cornetto to only dislike both, equally. Bottom line: not a fan of this bar, it's not the best in the world. Just seems a bit overrated for me. I think I lucked out with this place - was scared it was a tourist trap since right near the station, but I saw lots of native Italian speakers getting gelato, so thought ok, should be safe. And it was! Delicious pistachio (my go to) and then another flavor that I think was chestnuts? Am not sure? Anyway the bloke just really topped me up and it was a lot for the money and very gratefully and eagerly scarfed down! Plus they have great wifi - I will def return when next back in Milan! read more

We visited Maria Marinoni's bakery/café/gelateria around brunch time on a sunny tuesday. The shop is located very nicely between other shops at Piazza Cadorna right outside of the metro station. Even though this is like a very city center-ish location (it's only like 4 stations away from the Dome and Vittorio Emanuele) there aren't too many bypasser when you're sitting outside, so it's somewhat likely you'll be able to enjoy your meal without feeling observed by the general public. Something we felt was kind of ominous though (and that may well be an exception, but I'll mention it anyway) is the presence of soldiers with machine guns at the ready. It kind of takes away the cozyness of breakfast when there's an armed patrol right next to you, seemingly stationed to guard the piazza. Well, back to the food. We enjoyed two croissants, one plain and one filled with vanilla cream. For some reason both came at the same price of 1,3 euros and the coffees we had were also around that sum. I had myself an espresso while my girlfiend enjoyed a cup of cappuccino. We ordered our food and drinks at the counter because the staff seemed occupied with cleaning dishes and we didn't want to wait. In a mere minute everything was served and handed to us, which is pretty neat. Sitting inside is also an option, though I am not really a fan of this odd 60s-ish interior design that reminds me of an oldschool American diner. The croissants looked mouthwateringly gorgeous and the looks were not misguiding. Crunchy but also soft and filled with a still slightly warm cream, this was probably one of the best croissants I've ever had. The coffee was strong, but not bitter. I would have liked a small glass of water to accompany it, though. Maria Marinoni is a nice bakery/café with good coffee and bakery goods, in a central location of Milano. Especially with regards to the low prices - especially by Milano's partly insane standards - this is probably one of the best places to have breakfast. Just for clarity's sake: I am subtracting one star because of the frightening presence of armed soldiers and what I found to be an unfiiting interior/exterior design for an italian bakery. read more

Great place for breakfast, I got a cappuccino and two cream filled croissants for just €3,30. The cafe is in the entrance to the train station but it is slightly off to the side so the foot traffic is not too bad. There is a take out area as well if you want to grab a pastry and keep walking. Overall the coffee and food we're great, incredibly affordable, and the seating was pleasant enough to be enjoyed. read more

Friendly staff if you know basic Italian. And there's free wifi. Just ask. Just be sure to drink your espresso at the counter.

The food is ok but you can only get a sweet breakfast like Croissants with different fillings. You will not get something like scrambled eggs or a bread roll with cheese. Unfortunately the stuff is not very kind. She, the waitress, gave me the wrong Croissant and as I asked her to swap it. She pretended not to understand me and got to the next customer.
