I started off with a acne/skin consultation with Jane and this facial consisted of a cleanse, exfoliation, facial steam, extractions, light therapy, and other services based on your skin's needs. I had a lot of acne/congestion in my skin so it definitely was a little raw after my first facial, but as I've been a regular, my skin has adapted to and heals much better after the service. Jane's extraction technique is amazing and she spends the time looking at every single pore on your face and extracting which reduces the amount of acne breakouts that I get in between sessions. Jane also gives really helpful advice on what your skin concerns are and provides recommendations (products/lifestyle changes) that can help target those skin conditions. The best advice I could give as someone who has spent time and energy trying to build a routine is to go at it slow (don't change your routine too often and give your skin the time it needs to adjust) and maintain your expectations especially if you have combination skin like me. I've had three Fraxel laser sessions before this one and every session went perfectly well. This…read moresession was different from my previous Fraxel treatments. It's been a month since my treatment. The technician explained that she always starts at a low setting, so I assumed my treatment would be relatively conservative. However, during the session, the pain was intolerable which was different from my previous treatments, which immediately struck me as unusual. I did mention to the technician during the appointment that it is more painful than my part sessions, and she didn't think anything of it. That should've been a sign that maybe the setting was too high. Afterward, my face was swollen, more painful than usual, and I went through the peeling and recovery process. I followed the same aftercare routine I had used successfully with my previous sessions, including gentle cleansing. After about two weeks, I gradually returned to my normal skincare routine. Although the surface of my skin appeared healed after a couple weeks, I noticed that my face remained unusually sensitive every time I washed it. This had never happened after any of my previous treatments. I subsequently began noticing areas of discoloration in those sensitive areas and raised bumps like milia over the scarred areas on the sides of my face and so far it's been getting worse everyday. Given how different this experience was, I have concerns that something about the treatment itself--whether the settings, treatment intensity, technique, or execution--may have contributed to my prolonged recovery and the changes I'm now seeing in my skin. I've lost confidence and trust in the provider, and at this point. I'm concerned that the response would simply be that hyperpigmentation is a known risk covered by the consent form, rather than a meaningful discussion of what was different about this session and why my recovery was much more different than before and how they will fix it. The fact that a complication of hyperpigmentation is a known risk doesn't automatically establish that the treatment was performed appropriately or that the provider's technique played no role. I believe it's reasonable to question what was different about this session, especially given my previous experience with the same laser. The practitioner's technique, settings, and execution are absolutely the primary factors in post-laser complications. Follow up after texting with the technician. I explained that I'm feeling sunburn sensitivity in some areas on my face along with brown discoloration and bumps and she completely deflected saying that, " it's only been a month and that's completely normal." --No that is not normal after a month. I also requested that the front desk email me my medical records, fraxel laser settings used, etc., and they still didn't email me. I'm going to seek other professional help.
