When I picked them up, the heel taps had been replaced and the soles looked fine, but the actual heels had not been touched. The job was clearly unfinished. When I asked why the heels hadn't been repaired, I was told it would cost an additional $100. In all my years of taking designer shoes to cobblers, I have never experienced anything like this. What frustrates me most is the lack of communication. I specifically asked for the shoes to be restored to look as close to new as possible. If repairing the heels required an additional charge, why wasn't that explained to me when I dropped them off? For the amount of money they charge, I expected much better service, attention to detail, and transparency. I didn't realize I needed to spell out every part of the shoe that needed attention when I had already made my expectations clear. Very disappointing experience, especially considering the premium pricing. I would not recommend.

The quality of the repairs are subpar and work doesn't matches the bad attitude of the person behind the counter. Who threatens customers over a phone call. I did not feel safe picking up my shoes alone. Please think twice before coming here, especially if you're a woman or would be coming in by yourself. Brought my favorite sandals and diaper bag to get fixed…read more The issue with my sandals was that the gold plating on the open front toe area was starting to lift slightly (other sandal was fine) I thought they could just use some type of really good shoe glue to fix the problem but the guy said it was best to nail down the gold plating on both the shoes despite there being no problem with the other foot for preventive reasons, made a lot of sense so I said ok. Issue with my diaper bag was that the front pull tab was missing and because the pull tabs on all the zippers are identical with company logo on it, I wanted them to match. So I had them take pull tab from the inside zipper to place on the missing front pull tab zipper and use a generic pull tab for the inside zipper where no one will really see it. Ok so they did everything according to how we discussed but not in a clean neat manner. The nails he used to nail down the gold plating on my sandals are silver?! You'd think gold nails would be used so it'll blend in nicely so that really annoyed me. Next annoying rant was my diaper bag looked really dirty it had lint all on the bottom from sitting on the shelf and had dirt stains on the sides! I dropped this bag off in like new condition. I had to go home and hand wash the dirtiness off my bag. I was charged $25 in total for the fixtures. Which I wouldn't have mind if they actually paid more attention to details and handled my items as if they were their own. Poor negligence definitely don't recommend this place. Go elsewhere.

They do excellent work, with extremely high quality workmanship, great service, are pleasant people and charge reasonable prices. They're also honest -- they've told me when something couldn't be repaired or just wasn't worth it. I have narrow feet and often buy larger shoes knowing that I can have them "taken in" at Contino's. They're like a tailor for my shoes! They've also re-soled dozens of my shoes over the years. I'm grateful to have Contino's in Plantation and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great shoe repair shop in the area.

The cleaning was satisfactory, although I found the prices high. I continued taking my higher-end garments to my longstanding cleaner. My experience with the tailoring service was mixed: the blonde seamstress was kind and capable; I found the other less courteous. The alteration quote was also considerably higher than what my regular tailor in Bal Harbour charges. The evening gentleman deserves recognition. He was consistently polite, helpful, and responsive by phone. Unfortunately, my experiences with the woman usually working mornings were very different. On one occasion, when I asked her to contact the cleaning plant simply to establish when my clothes would be ready, she told me this would incur a $5-per-item rush charge. I clarified that I was requesting information, not expedited service, but she maintained that the charge would apply as they have to spend time looking for my items. After repeated unpleasant interactions, I began visiting only when the gentleman was working. The final incident occurred when I needed to drop off clothing before a work trip. I called repeatedly throughout the afternoon without an answer. When I arrived at approximately 5:55 p.m., shortly before the stated 6 p.m. closing time, the woman was already outside of the store with two other workers. She declined to accept my items, saying she had to be somewhere at 6 p.m. I found her manner dismissive and rude. I subsequently called headquarters. The person who identified himself as the owner said he already knew about the incident and believed she had done nothing wrong. He also disputed my account of the timing. Regardless, my central concern was the attitude: a minute or two either way would not change the fact that the same explanation could have been delivered courteously. Although the owner's tone was polite, I did not feel that my concerns about this incident or the previous interactions received meaningful consideration. We mutually agreed to stop doing business together. I have returned to my longstanding cleaner: the additional 15-minute drive is well worth the consistently courteous service and oustanding cleaning results.
