Margarite's Hot Tamales are an Olé New Orleans style hot tamale. We make them with lean ground beef and a variety of delicious spices. They are fully cooked and come packed with a rich gravy. Each pack weighs a pound or more and averages 12 Tamales per bag. We have a spicy and mild version. Our customers love our custom tamales. We have made tamales with our customer’s venison, goat, wild hog, rabbit etc. It is a unique speciality of ours. Please call before coming as we do not always have set hours.

History

Established in 1970.

My father originally made our tamales for family and friends. This continued for many years. When Katrina hit New Orleans, I noticed a huge lack of local foods in the marketplace. Many were not able to come back after this disaster. We decided it was time to take our business more public and began selling Margarite's Hot Tamales in stores and restaurants.

Meet the Business Owner: Jaime L.

My father, a Jefferson Parish fireman, invented the recipe and named it after my mother whose name is "Margaret". I took over the business when we decide to produce and sell them commercially.
