È Cucina Leopardi.... I love, love, love the concept of this…read morerestaurant. They serve only a few dishes , which are based on chef's choice/seasonality of products/ingredients on hand. There is no set menu. You walk in having no idea what you're going to get...and I love that. They offer three different lunchtime meal options..an appetizer/primo/dolce priced at 10€; an appetizer/secondo/dolce priced at 15 €; and an appetizer/primo/secondo/dolce at 20€. Being the glutton I am, I couldn't pass up the last option...an app, two courses, and a dessert? And for 20 euros? Hell yeah. Oh, and did I mention water, bread, and a glass of wine is included no matter which price point you choose?! You choose which price formule you want, and from there, they ask you carne, pesce, or vegetano. So if you choose pesce, your 1st and/or second course will be some kind of fish dish...same if you choose vegetarian or meat. I believe the appetizer will always be some kind of vegetarian dish, because they don't give you your options until after the appetizer is served. The appetizer they served was ricotta cheese with an apple cream (aka applesauce). It was good! The sweetness of the apple cream complemented the cheese. Light, creamy, refreshing! After eating the appetizer the waiter told me what the menu of the day was. For the fish...the 1st course was a fish soup. The second course was some kind of fish. For the meat, the 1st course was a meatball pasta. The second course was some kind of beef dish. I couldn't decide between the carne or pesce, so my waiter told me I could have the best of both worlds, and do a course of each. I chose meat as the first course, and fish as the second. My first dish was your basic spaghetti, but the best spaghetti I've ever had. The noodles were perfectly Al dente. The sauce was vibrant, fresh, and flavorful with some nice hints of garlic. There was just the right amount of fresh parmesan already mixed in to balance the acidity of the dish and give it a slight nuttiness. And there was also olive oil drizzled in there..the good kind, giving it a slight bitterness and brightness. Spaghetti will never be the same for me again after eating that. My second course. I have no idea what kind of fish it was...but it was cooked just right, and the skin was a bit crispy and slightly salted. There was a kind of green puree that went with it...it had very bright flavour notes and was slightly sweet. The fish was served with some salted potatoes, apples, and rutabaga(?). Everything worked well flavor-wise, and I really, really enjoyed the dish. By that point, I was so, so full. They give you very nice sized portions and I honestly probably could have stopped after the first course. However, dessert was still yet to come! For dessert they give you two options to choose from. I waited for my waiter to give me my choices, but he never did. He came out and said, "you must try everything!" and he gave me both desserts!!!!! One was almost like a chocolate molten cake. The outside was little crisp, and the inside was warm, fudgy, and chewy. It was so, SO good. It was a dark chocolate, and sweet..but just slightly so. And there were a few hard chocolate shavings throughout which provided a nice contrast in texture. The other desert was an almond cake. It was soaked in some kind of liqueur..amaretto, I believe. It was served with a dollop of what I think was some kind of cheese..maybe marscapone mixed with some orange. It was a very lovely dessert! Pleasing to the taste buds, and not overly sweet! Finally, the meal concluded with a small cup of coffee! I paid my 20€ and waddled away from the restaurant, incredibly full, but oh so satisfied. The main reason I came to Italy was to eat. I added Bologna to my itinerary because I heard it was the foodie capital of Italy. I have had many great food experiences during my time in Bologna but eating at È Cucina Leopardi has by far been the highlight. I highly, highly recommend checking it out if you ever get the chance!!

We sat in the front bar area at a cozy little table. Our waiter greeted us and brought water as soon as we sat down. He explained some of the dishes too. The waiter was also a bartender and made an amazing espresso martini using Fabrizi syrups. The syrups added a lot of flavor. An ext dove wine list is also available of course. The Lambrusco was very good too. Our waiter recommended the tortellini in forma. It was made table side in a parmigiana wheel. The cheese was creamy and very good. We added white truffles which added a nice contrasting note. It was fun to watch it being prepared! The lasagna verde was good but could have used some more sauce. It was a little dry. . The Stringozzi guanciale E pistachio was good with al dente pasta. The guanciale added a little saltiness with the crunch of the pistachios. The pork loin was good but basic. The potatoes and greens added a nice touch. All in all the restaurant had good food and a nice staff
