In Europe and America, Marcs is considered «high street» - good quality but affordable clothes for the fashionable set.
Not so in Australia - the prices in here are RIDICULOUS, particularly given the cheapness with which they are available overseas. Not happy, Jan! Of course, the clothes are nice - think along the lines of Country Road or Witchery, but a little more on trend; this season, Marcs is stuffed with brightly-coloured blazers and matching dresses.
The clothes are also seemingly well made, with an emphasis on functional design. However, none of this takes away from how DAMN EXPENSIVE THEY ARE - $200 for a sundress? Come on, Marc; let's play fair.
Despite what I consider to be highway robbery, Marcs is packed with young professionals getting their late-night shopping on when I visit one Thursday night. Youthful people with a high disposable income are most certainly the target market in here. Accordingly, those of us who aren't dressed in corporate gear are not even given a look in by the perfectly-groomed sales people. Not that I was going to buy anything, but still... acknowledgement would be nice! read more
