We had an excellent evening at Scarpetta's, both service, food, and ambiance. The Italian gem of a…read more restaurant is located in historic downtown Fremont. The main dining area is filled with colorful large scale artwork, ambient lighting, and there are beautiful thick marble-topped tables, and some booths are in an elegant cozy crescent shape. Our party of 5 included a gentleman in a wheelchair, and the hostess was very kind to configure the seating to best fit his wheelchair, and allow everyone to have ample room at the table. The hostess, Elisa and our waitress Alora were the perfect service personnel, very kind, warm and professional. The food was an Italian delight, and cooked to perfection. Upon being seated we were promptly brought waters with lemon and rustic bread with herbed olive oil. The French onion soup was a knockout in flavor, onions and overall quality. The mozerella cheese was flame-seared just prior to serving.. Among the best FO soup II have had. The dinner salad was a generous serving; crispy and fresh with tomatoes, onions, and olives. Three guests ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and they all agreed the sauce was outstanding and the portions came in plentiful deep- dish rimmed bowls. Two guests ordered chicken scallopini and it was very good and hot with linguine and red onions and a nice sauce. While between the five of us, we ordered repeats of the same meals, the entree and appetizer menu had an impressive variety of Italian dishes from which to make our choices. Scarpetta's is well worth the drive from nearly anywhere in Northwest Ohio, and rivals the best there, and even in Chicago! Get there before 6 and enjoy a vary nice happy hour for drinks and appetizers. This was our third time here, and each visit exceeded our expectations and memory. We will return! You will not be sorry after enjoying an authentic Italian meal at at beautiful Scarpetta's restaurant. Our after-meal coffees were superb as well.

It says 2 entrees for a certain price but that means 1/2 portion of 2 entrees for that price. Sure doesn't say that on the menu. The food took a long time and there were only a couple tables in the restaurant. No thanks.

A true traditional homestyle spaghetti and incredible sauce perfectly seasoned and consistent blend of herbs making this sauce the talk of the meal. Meatballs, wow ! They are huge and again perfect to taste, the seasoned taste will wake your taste bud's simply because you have never had the true Italian meatballs. The mall is offered with a slice of buttered garlic bread that says hi I'm straight from the bakers oven and melted in your mouth. A side salad is wonderful with this meal and if you like Italian make sure and have the house Italian dressing it absolutely will not disappoint you. I will always return when in or close to Findlay, OH. Special thanks to momma, Micah your amazing!!!

Staff is SUPER friendly, they were great!…read more The starter wasn't great, the cheese tortellini was over fried so there was no cheese left, just a crisp pasta husk. The sauces weren't my favorite either... Italian salad dressing, chunky red sauce, and the cream base of Alfredo sauce (not good - basically just plain cold cream). The white chicken Parmesan entree was very good though, well worth the trip!

Perfect for work meals or just a chill night out. Our server was attentive and extremely helpful with making drink choices. I orders the shark bite and it was literally like drinking a blue icee drink but spiked! As for the food, the garlic butter knots were so soft and doughy, my fave! I also ordered the tortelloni which was good but I can't say it was mind blowing. Overall still a good spot to go to and Venice staff!

My wife had asked about parking and an off-handed comment was received. We figured he didn't normally talk to customers. My pasta was good and served at the proper temperature, however, my wife wasn't as lucky. The salmon she ordered was fine, but it was covered in scallions that were not mentioned on the menu. Her pasta, supposed to be served room-temperature, was cold, as if it had sat around waiting for the salmon. Our server was fine, however, she could have been much better. I really wish restaurants would realize that customers sitting in their dining rooms have chosen them over all their competition and treat them accordingly. I'm sure we could have had a similar experience somewhere else for the same $50. I wanted to give 4+ Stars today, but am unable due to the entire experience.

It came to the table with no mint, and I was told it's a mojito mix that they use. It was disgusting. Garlic bread 4/10 Frozen Texas toast, but no garlic. Just tastes like plain toasted bread. Italian Trio 9/10 - House made Meatballs 8/10 pretty good. Lot of sausage in the mixture. - Tomato Bruschetta 9/10 good, except the raw garlic was weird. Roasted would be better. - Sausage & Peppers 10/10 good. Mild. Juicy. Stuffed shells 9/10 The shells were cooked good. Strong sausage flavor, but good. Didn't taste much cheese, and the spinach was good but the flavor of it doesn't come through a ton. The vodka sauce with them was really good, and tons of mozzarella on top. Steak Mediterranean 8/10 Medium rare beef tenderloin tips. Cooked perfect. Sauce was really good. Noodles were cooked good. Again, tons of raw garlic, it definitely needed to be sautéed or roasted (that would make it a 10/10). I liked that they put the noodles and the steak on separate plates. Spaghetti & Meatballs 9/10 Noodles cooked good. Sauce was good. For kids- I don't recommend adding the chopped parsley garnish. Chicken Parmesan 9/10 Really good! Chicken breading was crispy and cooked really good.

Went there Saturday with family and friends. What a great night!…read more Two of us had the lasagna and it was incredible. This isn't the usual lasagna. It's similar to what you know, but different! I bet it had 10 layers. The sauce was definitely made in-house. Not too sweet, not too bitter/sour. The one thing that's different with Calvino's is I couldn't detect or find any ricotta cheese, and I didn't miss it. It was a very generous portion, and it was perfectly cooked. No dry pasta or burned edges. I opted to add some Italian sausage which was the perfect addition. The other person who ordered this added sausage and ground beef and said that his was perfect. Either way, you can't go wrong! Another person at our table ordered the butternut squash ravioli. She was kind enough to let me try a piece and it was absolutely amazing! She ordered it with the olive oil and garlic sauce, which was the perfect pairing. This was as good or better than the butternut squash ravioli at Martini's in Columbus. The pasta had great texture (definitely fresh pasta) and the filling wasn't gluey in any way (this filling can have a tendency for textural issues). I'm definitely ordering it on my next visit! Someone ordered the chicken and pesto sandwich and raved about it. The last person at the table ordered the linguine with olive oil, garlic and mushrooms and again, it was perfection. All entrees were served with bread (ahhhh, those great little nuggets of fresh baked bread, drizzled in butter and sprinkled with cheese...) and a really nice, fresh salad. I would bet that the dressings are all homemade too! From past experience I can attest to the stromboli being outstanding (get the Godfather!)! The pizzas going by the table looked pretty amazing too, but I've not had their pizza. Appearances can be deceiving, but from the looks of the pies and quantity of people ordering them, they have to be pretty great too. Calvino's does not have a full bar, but they do have an extensive wine selection and some nice beers to choose from. If everyone at the table is ordering wine, go for the bottle as it will save you money. They have some really nice, inexpensive wines that pair very well with pasta - you won't break the bank on wine (but you could...)! All in all, it was a great night! The bill for the two of us came to $55.00 (that's including the tip)! The service was great, the food was outstanding - the best Italian meal I've had in Toledo, hands down.
