Last night in Dublin for my boyfriend and I and we wanted burgers. We googled best burgers in…read moreDublin and The Counter came up as one of them. So, we said, alright lets give it a go! Atmosphere: Modern bar. Very busy and noisy. Service: Not the best. We got seated pretty quickly but we waited forever before someone came to take our drink order. I saw multiple staff members just hanging out. Some of them eating a the bar just chatting. Our waitress didn't even say hi - just "are you ready to order?" When I asked a few questions about the burgers she was pretty clueless. Nice enough and all, but honey, you really should know your menu. She never asked us what temp we wanted our burgers cooked to either. Once we ordered our burgers, it took a good 25 minutes before they came out. A food runner gave us our plates. While we were waiting I noticed that the majority of the staff looked about 16 years old. Maybe a night time manager would be a good idea?? Our waitress did check in but didn't keep an eye on our drinks and I ran out of soda before finishing my burger AND my boyfriend ran out of his beer. Missed opportunity to earn more money.... When we finished our meal, we sat there a long time before someone else came to clear our dishes. We then waited for the bill for another 10 minutes....Thank goodness we didn't need change and could just get up and leave! Food: The food, however, was really good. I got the Old School Burger, very classic beef burger, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, relish sauce, brioche bun. The burger meat is antibiotic and hormone free and really did taste fresh and delicious. All the stuff that came with it complemented the burger nicely and I was definitely pleased. The relish sauce really made it. My boyfriend got the Bacon BBQ Burger - beef burger, cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, fried onion strings, hickory BBQ sauce on brioche bun. He thought it was really good. The fried onion strings were really good and the BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet. We both got the shoestring fries and they were okay. Nothing special, but not bad. If they seasoned them a bit it might take things up a notch. The presentation of the burgers is quite impressive. The fries come in a separate stand up container which is fun. There is a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. My boyfriend got 8 degrees sunburnt red beer which he liked quite a bit. I just had a diet coke. You can make your own burger if you don't want to get a specific one on the menu. There are a variety of burger bases, buns, toppings, sauces, and such to choose from. If you don't want fries for a side they have sweet potato fries, side salads, coleslaw, etc. They offer other menu items as well such as sandwiches, salads, appetizers, shakes/malts/floats. Cost: Most of the burgers were 10-12 euros. You pay extra for sides. The fries we got added an additional 2.50 euros each. My boyfriends beer was 5 euros, my soda 3 euros. So, as always, it adds up quick, but the prices are pretty reasonable. Especially because you really do get your money's worth. The burgers are no joke! I would definitely recommend this burger chain. I am hoping one opens in Clifton Park soon. I want to try all their other burgers!!!

With vegetarians and other conservative eaters in our party, we found this place a godsend for a midafternoon pre-Trinity-College-sightseeing meal. Actually, it's pretty good on its own merits. I've eaten at other Counters and I like the setup...but there are too many choices! Patty, bun, cheese, toppings, and sauce. So many options! But if you enjoy culinary creativity and/or control, you will not go wrong here. The sides are good too, except that they were out of fried pickles. Sad face. We enjoyed regular fries, sweet potato fries, and grilled vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their burgers, so the meal was a success. Ironically, The Counter has table service, so it's not quite as quick as you might hope. But their sodas are from a fountain (yay, American style) so you can get refills. Plus, a bonus--their soundtrack of classic rock and respectable 80s and 90s tunes inspired at least four individuals in our multigenerational group to sing at various times. Clearly, they are all about variety.

During our research before we left we saw a video talking about Bunsen. Just seeing the high quality of the ingredients made it one of our must try stops in Dublin. As we do when traveling, we start and end the day eating throughout the day. We popped into Bunsen to finally try the legendary burger around 4:30 pm. Because we were there at such an odd hour, we were the only people there. When you visit Ireland, the pub culture is real and most pubs start to get quite busy around 5:30 pm. Since Bunsen isn't a pub and wasn't located in a particularly touristy area , it didn't surprise me they were empty at that time of day. What stuck out the most at first was the super friendly service right from the door. We were sat at a small banquet of tables against the wall and checked out the menu from QR code link on the table. We were there for their original burger so that is what we ordered. No sides and water to drink. I couldn't be filling up too much yet. It was pretty early after all and we had a lot of places to stop yet. The menu isn't huge. They focus on doing one thing well and keep it at that. I like a restaurant that doesn't try to be everything. Our burger came out within 10 min and it was juicy, hot and fresh. Presented beautifully wrapped. We shared this one burger because, we knew we had lots of food to eat later. Immediately after eating the last bite I wanted to order another. It was really that good. Such perfection! This will be the burger I compare all others in Ireland to.

Well done BuJo! Great burger(s...as you get 2 on standard burger), lovely buns and love love LOVE…read morethe sauce on it; like a piquant tomato/mayo sauce. Like all the new good burger places, they have a super simple menu (only oddity is no lettuce available on burgers?). One criticism could be the fries (not crispy) ...but I dont order fries when I go to a burger place (kids did) so I am out going to make them down for that! The TRUE differentiator is that the burgers are cooked on flame grill...and BOY can you taste the difference Finally kids had the ice-cream...ok,I admit it, I tried theirs and it was DELICIOUS. Caramel ice cream was creamy and light with a lovely caramel sauce Will definitely be back for more

Boasting the best of Irish beef and a "nothing but burgers" menu, we headed off to this iconic Dublin burger joint. It is surely no frills. Tucked in the wall, no elegance to speak of, BUT they are all about the burgers, for sure. I ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon (after all, if going for a cardiac arrest burger, you need to do it proud) and the crinkle cut Bujo fries. I asked for the three sauce selection and chose Siaracha Mayo, Burbon BBQ and the Roasted Garlic Aioli. I ordered a draft beer. IMHO, a burger without a beer in Ireland is sacrilegious. My husband, being the pagan he is, opted for a chocolate milkshake with oreo crumbs (what??) The joint has a condiments bar where you can add jalapeños, crispy onions and other such to your meal. It is self serve for ordering and you are given a table placard for the table to await a server who does bring your meal. The burgers were distinctly charbroiled and flavorful. The fries were.....well, meh.....the sauces definately added value to the fries. The sliced jalapeños were delicious, as were the sauces. I really enjoyed them. I would have given this place four stars for being in the keeping of what it is--a hole in the wall burger joint. However, for someone who is not price sensitive on food at all, I was a bit taken aback by the price. In USD, essentially $65 for two burgers, two decent drinks and 2 fries. That was with tip, but wilthout VAT. The table was sticky and the bathroom was dingy. So the 3 stars is about right. I would definately recommend this place for a good burger but be prepared to carry a loaded wallet and skip the drinks and sauces to keep it affordable.
