Annecy's Christmas Market is the perfect place to wish yourself (and your lucky friends and family) a very merry Christmas. There are food, wine, and craft chalets galore! And you know what that means...samples! From gingerbread to nougats to cheese to chocolates to bread, you can merrily "goute" your way through the snow. And because it's snowing, and because every other chalet sells it, you'll have to warm up with mulled wine.
Prices are reasonable, but this is definitely an artisan market. I picked up several gorgeous bracelets for 20 euros each and nougats were 12 euros for a sizable hunk.
On Sundays, the bustling food market is open in the Old Town and the Christmas market is open along the canal. Outside Courrier, there is another Christmas market and a skating rink. The sausage and mulled wine chalet there is to die for but otherwise I prefer the Hotel de Ville market!
This is the last week of the Christmas markets, so hurry over! Happy shopping! read more
