The museum does a great job of using modern day audio visuals, historic manuscripts, paintings, objects, and engravings to engage and keep you interested. For only 13 CHF you gain entrance and a audio guide to the museum. No additional fees for audio guides here. My favourite room was the music room which was made to look like a little chapel with two wooden pews, and you can select different buttons to listen to historic hymns sung by Reformed churches from around the world. I came into the museum not expecting very much, and thought I would be bored, but I found this little place interesting. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5pm. TIP: for tourists to the area who will be visiting all the Saint Pierre historic sites in old Geneva be sure to get the combined ticket for 18 CHF which gets you entrance to the following spaces: Cathedral + Towers, Archaeological Site and this Reformation museum. Nyon's Roman Museum has been constructed below ground level, actually in the foundations of the basilica of the forum of Noviodunum. What is Noviodunum? Supposedly, it was one of the most important Roman towns in Switzerland, and it was founded in Julius Caesar's lifetime. They say that Nyon's history starts in 45 BC.

Definitely not easy to keep track off! Also, the first Sunday's of each month are free. I hadn't planned to visit the Nyon castle, as I had already toured some pretty amazing Swiss castles, and porcelain, is definitely not my cup of tea (no pun intended). Lets say, I quickly walked through the plates and dishes, and entered the historic floor. Wow, I was definitely caught off guard. I was not expecting the unique history that awaited me. Nyon bought the building in 1804,and the communal Council and the courts met there until 1999. The castle also was used as a prison until 1979!! That was fascinating. You could still see a wing of the prison, with the rooms maintained. You could see and read all the inscriptions the prisoners had written into the walls. Very cool!!!! After touring the Castle, if the cellar is open, definitely stop by for a taste of wine. They offer a great selection of local wines to choose from. I forgot to mention that there is a great view overlooking Nyon and the lake from the backside of the Nyon castle. Definitely check it out. You don't have to pay to walk through the castle to the back side to see the incredible view.

Do note that the vast majority of exhibition text is in French and that the English text is scant (only for major exhibits and introductions to new periods or significant historical events). We did not use audio guides or join an official group tour. Though the exhibits progress from the 1600s to the early 2000s and are genuinely COOL, there is a lack of cohesion or progression and on top of that you're making awkward, jagged turns to follow the ascending numerical order of the exhibits. The space feels completely maxed out. The vast majority of visitors seem to have a truly difficult time following any preset order after turning the first corner of the two most dense floors. Though anyone could enjoy a short visit, it is disappointing that some of the absolute basics of watches that the average person would want to know about (how does a manual wind actually work, what is an automatic movement, what is meant by "complication," what is quartz, tell us more about the pocket watch to wristwatch thing, why are holy trinity watches so expensive, etc) are simply not addressed. The production quality of the video that is screened in the auditorium is DECENT but it ends abruptly almost as if the bureaucrat in charge of its funding just stepped in one day and said to the producer "okay--done!" Compared to the rest of the media put out by Patek, it's not a good reflection of the brand.

I spent maybe an hour there in general; I forgot that Natural History Museums are just... taxidermied animals. There were many different kinds of animals, marine life, and rocks. However, not all of them are real (such as a dodo bird), and they lump many different kinds of animals together that would not live in the same habitat in real life, which they depicted on maps. About a half-hour walk from the lake uphill but also very close to the art museum. For a Sunday, it was very quiet.
