Lovely farmers market next to the Saône river. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, but also cured meats, cheeses and some prepared food, mostly at very fair prices. A really nice stroll in the morning. We went back twice. read more

Never mind Les Halles de Paul Bocuse. This is THE great gourmet market in Lyon. It is a massive massive street market on the banks of the Saone. Being on the river, it is as scenic as can possibly be imagined. The market goes on and on and on and on and on. Every kind of meat, every kind of fish, every kind of shellfish, every kind of vegetable, every kind of fruit, every kind of cheese, every kind of bread, every kind of pastry, every kind of spice, every kind of charcuterie, every kind of artisanal prepared food, Any thing you can think of in French cuisine: It's all here at the Marche Saint-Antoine. And they have it at multiple stalls - so you can pick and choose which vendor you like. Want to make pigeon stuffed with quince? They have the pigeon. They have the quince. Do you want fromage blanc made on the Savoyard model rather than following the Lyonnaise model? You have that option and six other choices as well. Have a French cookbook you read but can't use, since you can't find about a third of the ingredients? All those ingredients are at the Marche Saint-Antoine. The prices are very very reasonable. (The contrast with Les Halles de Paul Bocuse is particularly striking on the price issue.) If I lived in Lyon, I would set my cooking days to be the market days at the Marche Saint-Antoine ... Even if there was a perfectly good smaller market in my neighborhood. read more

Excellent farmers market that is also opened on Thursday morning. We were able to get some local produce at unbelievably excellent prices for fresh fruit and produce. They also sell great cheeses and deli meats. If you stop by this market. Pay a visit to this vendor. He is really kind and will let you try any cheeses before you purchase. I had some delicious cheese unpasteurized that I have placed a label and picture of the cheese in the photos. Do try to buy some. It is incredible and I bet you will go back to buy more. read more

We visited this amazing street market on a Sunday. We love it. This is where we bought 1/2 poulet roti (rotisserie chicken) and potatoes. We love it. The market is twice as many stalls during sundays. We passed by on a Friday and it wasn't this busy. A lot of choices here for fresh oysters, vegetables, fruits, cheese and charcuterie. We wished we can take it with us. Come visit here please! read more

Excellent market. The size varies from day to day. It's open every day except Monday and the size doubles from early in the week to later. Excellent produce, cheese and very good fishmongers and butchers. I bought a rabbit saddle from one stall and a beautiful turbot from another. The fish was expertly filleted and you could tell the guy was serious about his product. A few stalls have dry cured sausages 3 for €10. Flowers are abundant. Luckily kill, it was close to our airbnb so I was fortunate to visit a few times. read more
