Established in 1638, this is one of the oldest cemeteries in all of New England. If you are into historic sites, this should be on your do not miss list. The old headstones and the history within this little cemetery on a hill is fascinating. For some cinematic history, both "Hocus Pocus" and "The Good Son" had scenes within their movies filmed here. It also has a nice little gazebo to sit in to take in the wonderful view of the coast.

Everyone we saw in the cemetery was reverent and respectful which we loved to see. The stone engravings and unique shapes are really interesting to see, but watch your step. The lack of clear paths and the age of the stones and trees create bumps and uneven ground. If you're into history or love a bit of spooky charm, or are looking to visit all the Hocus Pocus filming locations, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Sabia,Jr. was very helpful and caring. Unbelievably she got better and was eating and we were watching TV with her for the next two months. Sadly our mother did pass away. Campbell was very kind and honored any & all requests we made. They were very quick to help but not intrusive. For example her rosary beads were not with her when we arrived it was corrected in seconds, that is literal - seconds. Campbell put together a photo video of her life from when she was very young till a few days before her passing with some nice songs. We picked 2 but they added a couple that made the video even more heart felt, since she was our hero, if you know the song. Each of her children did receive the video, as well as it being on the website obituary since not all her friends & family could attend. Nice Touch! The flowers she received some were going to be donated. They brought the flowers to the nursing home she was at Blueberry Hill in Beverly when the service was over. They included a card saying they were from the family. RIP mom.

So, I shopped around and found a great family-owned Jewish funeral director in Malden and saved approx. $1,000 off the total cost. And they did a great job! My advice, shop around stay "local".

She touched so many people's lives and I knew we needed to find a special place - beautiful, open, intimate - befitting her spirit, but also large enough to accommodate the hundreds of people who would come to celebrate her life.   The facility was more like a beautiful event space than a dreary funeral home - it was warm and bright with lots of open windows - it just has a different vibe...   With their help, we planned a celebration of life that allowed us all (our family, friends & co-workers) to honor and remember Marissa the way she wanted.   They helped with the digital tribute and even did a second extremely personalized video tribute that we shared during her service.   They presented many options and choices but never forced us into anything and they were great listeners in helping us create the type of memorial that was just what we needed.   There were plenty of staff there to assist, we never worried about a thing. They let us focus on our friends and family as all the details were taken care of.   After the service they have been reaching out to check on me and help with all the people to notify. A very large…read moregraveyard Harmony Grove is a very large and cool cemetery. Opened it 1840, it is built on very uneven terrain and has some steep hills, great old trees and lots and lots of different types of gravestones and memorials. I'm not sure how many acres the cemetery has but it certainly is vast. A cool Gothic revival chapel built in 1905 is at the entrance and then the small roads just sort of meander over the hills and through the trees. Lot of huge, medium and small sized monuments. Some quite modest and others very impressive and not doubt expensive. Some famous people that I never heard of are buried here as well as a whole lot of not so famous and ordinary folks. Some obelisks, morbid looking angels, a Civil War monument and even a couple of old cannon are scattered about. Some of the gravestones are literally hanging on the edge of small cliffs. One of the very coolest and most interesting graveyards I have been to. You can quite literally spend hours walking around here. A cemetery that is a fascinating place to visit even if you don't know any of the residents.
