You drive there only to find it might be $.50 to a dollar higher. Their pumps are frequently broken or the software won't load (this is a fairly new location too). They frequently won't take my debit card even though I have plenty of cash, forcing you to use a credit card. The water bucket and squeegee stations never have any water in them so you can't clean your windows which is a problem on long trips or summer time.

Thornton's always has great deals on fountain drinks and other snacks. Their frequency card not only saves you money on gas but also rewards you with free stuff like drinks and food. The lady working the counter the night I was there was super nice and friendly. Sometimes that's a rarity at gas station convenience stores. One of the nicer Thornton's in the area for sure.

On my last visit I bought something for a raging headache. What started me coming here was seven consecutive days in a row of my gas buddy app telling me they have the lowest prices. I did make an appointment on their website tool so I was expected. The staff was fast, and attentive and made sure I knew what they did and why. But they made an error. As I started to drive off I could hear a clicking sound that got faster as I sped up like having a playing card on your bike spokes as a kid. And I knew exactly what it was, the tire balance weights were hitting the brake rotors. There was no way to hear it at 2-3 MPH when pulling in and out of a bay. I had not left the shopping center they are in, drove down to the next entrance, and started pulling back in. The young man who helped me ran out the door to see what was wrong and immediately heard the sound. He was quick to apologize and pulled me into an open bay. The manager came out to see what the fuss was and then he came and apologized to me as well. It was a minor fix, they missed that they (another Discount Tire location) had upgraded tires and wheels that were not the stock sizes and put on the stock weights for the original tires. They quickly pulled the tires, reinstalled the correct weights rebalanced the tires, and got me out fast. Other places would have pretended they didn't screw up or try to shift blame. They did not, they owned it, fixed it fast, and were humble and professional about getting me back on the road.

There was slight confusion on my part standing at the counter for a few minutes until I realized there are kiosks. So I went to the kiosks behind the counter. Wrong kiosk. Then noticed the kiosks next to the counter. Ordered it. Got a ticket with an order # and scan bar with a price total. At the counter was a bowl full of peoples tickets, so I thought I had to give my ticket to her and pay. When the food was ready and I handed the server the ticket she said no, you gotta go to another kiosk to pay for it. So off I go back to the first kiosk I was at. Paid for it but had to have the manager help me figure out how to use my mobile app to get the points as there was no prompt on the screen to scan anything. So you just scan your phone at any time and it goes on your app. So off I go back to the food counter and waited again for the okay to grab my food and ask for a bag. The girl said ok you can take it now but bags are over there by the kiosk. Ok...I turn around sandwiches in hand and a nice customer was already heading towards me with a bag smiling like "I been there". He said if you ever get bowl with a lid, the lids don't stay on so make sure you tie the bag in a not over the bowl like this. (He showed me his bag). So I appreciated the kind man helping me lol. They don't really have the sweet peppers like we do but treat selections for lunch, dinner and breakfast. I would like to see the service level tick up more though, as compared to the ones accustomed to they are not to that level yet and that could mean some waiting time.
