The store clerks are very cordial and the postal staff are terrific. Apparently, they'll be relocating to the space vacated by Food Basics. I'm looking forward to the expansion. My rating is 3.5 stars…read more After work last Thursday, I wanted to pick up some hand cream for my mom. She had cracked skin on one of her hands for at least a week. The hand cream that she was using wasn't healing a thing. I found one brand that seemed promising while doing some research online. The site said that it was available at this particular Shoppers Drug Mart. The store was conveniently on my way home from work. Then again, I cut across most of the GTA, so I pass by a ton of stores! This store is in a plaza. There seemed to be a Food Basics or some green-painted grocery store that has closed down. Shoppers Drug Mart is in the corner further down. The parking area can be a bit chaotic. It's an older plaza and the lanes are more narrow than what I'm used to in suburbia. This store has been here for a while. It has everything that you'd expect it to have, including a grocery aisle. I walked every aisle and could not find the hand cream that I was looking for, which was disappointing. However, there was a Gold Bond one that was on sale. It has been approved by the Canadian Diabetes Society. It has proven results. It was also on sale. I bought it! I dropped the cream off at my parents' place. My mom said that she would try the hand cream out immediately. This morning, I spoke to my mom. She said that three hours later, she noticed a huge difference. She no longer has cracked hands. Nice! She asked me whether she could pay me back. Hearing her say that this product works is all that I wanted. The lone cashier at this store was friendly and made sure that each customer was okay. She helped out a senior ahead of me. I liked the care that she showed and the help that she gave. I'd come back here again when I'm in the area. (157)

Went in the next morning to clarify the price and for sale sign was still there for item. Spoke with the rude manager and let him know of the issue and asked me why I did not check bill at the time of purchase. I asked why your location is putting up sales signs ahead of the sale. He rudely pointed me to their cashier sign that requested patience. Sorry, this is not good customer service in my opinion.

Well that's serious money in my book (unfortunately.) I came into the store between 9-10a.m. on a Thursday. It wasn't too busy, to my relief. On the other hand, I wanted to be sure to get the right stuff, and wanted to check with the Pharmacy that it wasn't physically behind the counter before hunting the aisles. I took my place in line, and began to wait .. and wait. I have no problem letting her serve the current customer first, go ahead take the time necessary to do your job. After the customer walks away, however, she continues to really take her time. I stand, and wait...keep waiting...there are people adding up behind me. Finally I get so annoyed I need to start making conversation with the customer behind me. As we begin filling our own time void, the staff immediately decides to continue with someone else not in line. THEN I get to hear that it is indeed not kept behind the counter, but on the shelf. Once I hit the aisle, I do get a staff who is available and takes the time to answer my questions about the various formulations offered on the shelf. She had good knowledge of the different ingredients and their applications. I was finally able to purchase what I needed. I should have made more effort to remember her name as I would go look for her next I came back. Good service with an appropriate knowledge level.

I was heading home a few Saturdays ago. I needed a Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). I remembered this one…read morethat I hadn't dropped by in eons. It was time to revisit it. This SDM is on the southeast corner of 16th and Bayview avenues. It's next to a Petro-Canada that I also used to frequent often years ago. I parked steps away from the main entrance. I walked in. This SDM is organized like most of its stores. You get the beauty section first. I needed toothpaste, which was a couple of aisles over. I was pleased that there was a sale on a variety of toothpastes. This store has a post office at the back. I had no idea. I do now! What's interesting about this SDM is that it has a drive-thru pharmacy. At first, I thought it was a drive-thru for Tim Hortons... haha! You can indeed pick up your prescription without leaving your car by heading over to the drive-thru pickup window. I've only experienced pharmacy drive-thrus a handful of times stateside. It was the only way to get COVID-19 tests done at CVS. It was my first time seeing a pharmacy drive-thru in York region and in Canada. My friend at work has been getting a carton of strawberry milk whenever we have lunch on Wednesdays. I saw one-litre cartons of strawberry milk at this drugstore and decided to give it a try. It's surprisingly not as sugary as I had anticipated. It was pretty good for someone who hasn't had some version of it since I was a kid with powdered strawberry Quik. This version wasn't lumpy, which I appreciated. This store has a good selection of Squishmallows. I was pleased. I used the self-checkout kiosk to scan my items. It took no time for me to scan my PC Optimum barcode on my phone and pay with a credit card. There was one human staffer at the checkout. She was dealing with a Chinese couple who were challenging a price on an item. It goes to show you that you still need a human and self-checkout kiosks won't dominate the world. There was plenty of parking when I was here on a Saturday evening. It was nice to return to this SDM after many years. I had a good shopping experience. (201)

Last month, my colleague quietly told me that she had resigned. It was bittersweet. I had trained…read moreher when she first joined the company and we became friends. I immediately went into planning mode to send her off on a cheerful note. Setting up where we were going to eat for her farewell was easy. I had bought the perfect greeting card while I was in the Twin Cities. She is an avid reader. I had pooled funds from our department towards an Indigo gift card. I needed to get the gift card. I was flying back to Toronto from Minneapolis. Had my flight been on time, it would have arrived at 7 pm in Mississauga. By the time I fetched my car from my workplace's parking lot and headed to the nearest Indigo, I would have made it before it closed at 9 pm. My flight was delayed by 1.5 hours. I tossed out plan. Thanks, Air Canada! I always have at least one backup plan. You truly do, especially when Air Canada is a part of it. Plan B was to hit the nearest Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) and get a gift card. From my workplace, I am fortunate that I have three SDM stores to choose from. However, considering that it was nearly 10 pm, the choice was obvious. I drove over to this one in Rockwood Mall. Why do I love this store already? It's open till midnight. My usual SDM that I frequent closes a lot earlier. I had no problem heading over here. It's roughly a five-minute drive from my workplace. There was plenty of parking available and it was fairly busy on a Tuesday evening. I backed into a parking spot and walked into the store. This store is designed like most SDMs. You walk in and the beauty boutique is right in front of you. I didn't need to focus on my beauty after having travelled back. Okay, maybe I did and I chose not to. I needed a gift card. Luckily, I found the gift cards immediately. They tend to be by the greeting cards. I picked up one and then browsed around the store a bit. I was happy to see Squishmallows. There weren't a lot of them. However, they were so cute that it didn't matter. I looked at vitamins, shampoo, and the food aisles. This store has a nice selection of bread. Maybe the folks in this neighbourhood love carbs. The bread varieties were definitely better than what I get at my local SDM. I lined up to pay. There was only one cashier. Another female staffer came over and said that I could use the self-checkout kiosk. I said that I had a gift card. Could I activate it at a kiosk? She said yes. Cool! In the past, I was always told that a cashier could only specify the amount on a gift card and activate it. This woman was awesome. She stepped me through everything. I loaded $150 on the card and paid with a debit card. Done! I thanked the nice woman. She was great. I headed to my car and drove to a hotel nearby work. It was so late that I opted to say in Mississauga. It would make my commute to the office the next day easier. The gift card worked without a hitch. My friend was ecstatic to get it. All ends that ends well, as the saying goes. I appreciate that this SDM was open. It played a huge part of my planning my friend's parting gift. I'd return when I'm back in the area and need something at this store. The hours and staff are awesome. (365)
