After looking at quite a few daycares for our daughter & we settled on Maple Tree Academy. They had multiple locations but we landed at the West LA location on Sepulveda. As a first time father, I had a lot of trepidation about leaving my baby with a bunch of "strangers" but that quickly changed. Amy, the location's director, has put together a magnificent staff of caring, loving, jovial people that greets your child by name every morning & every afternoon. Our daughter started off in the Sugar Maples group with Teacher Brenda & Teacher Edith, my personal favorite, who still stops & checks in with our daughter every single day. Security Guard Andre also greets every kid by name every day accompanied with high fives & hand daps. Our daughter is now in the "Field Maple" group, where each kid is at least 24 months old, and Teacher Sandy & Teacher Isabel continued providing great leadership & guidance for our daughter. The pedagogy at Maple Tree is outstanding! I was amazed the first time my daughter came home saying words in Spanish as well as in American Sign Language. Hearing my daughter counting at such a young age helped reenforce just how good the Maple Tree program really is. The biggest thing for us is seeing how excited our daughter is everyday to attend school everyday. If you are looking for a daycare for your child, I Highly suggest Maple Tree Academy. He has been under the attentive care of many different wonderful teachers each with their own special touch supporting the school's philosophy. Lovely place. It's a large daycare but the facility is modern/new. Also, it has a retractable roof with a basketball court on the 3rd floor. I don't know any other daycare that has perks like that! My toddler has been coming here since he was 11 months old. Every day he is greeted by name by all the teachers- I can tell he's excited to be here and he feels loved :) There are new toys/experiences setup daily so it's never a boring day. My toddler doesn't even say bye to me anymore, he just runs inside to play and hang out with his friends. Really happy we found this place and we would recommend to others. read more

My son is in the Sugar Maples, and started in June 2023 when he was 12 months old. He had a hard time adjusting to a new routine, but the teachers and school worked with us to help get him comfortable. Now, it's his favorite place to be. He loves all of his friends and teachers so much, and they have a great time painting, playing and exploring. His vocabulary and motor skills are also exploding - he learns so much every day. The teachers also communicate any important notes with care and in a timely manner. It is the greatest gift to feel full comfort in having my son in such good hands. We are moving out of LA but our son has been at MTA since he was 5 months old until now, he just turned 2. We have absolutely loved MTA and couldn't have felt better about the quality of care and education. Looking for a new daycare has highlighted just how well managed MTA is and how marvelous the teachers are. Haven't been able to beat it. We will miss it. Our son is so happy and excited go to school everyday. so we wanted to extend our thanks for all the work the whole team does. In the infant stage they are super communicative and accepting of all the specifics I had about naps/ bottles/starting solids etc etc. Made me feel very comfortable with sending my very young baby to daycare. Teacher interaction is fabulous you can tell they truely care about each individual. The education/curriculum is quite variedand exposure to lots of fun quality things. They are truely learning everyday Facility is quite new and very "fancy" in a good way. They have a great setup, well maintained and designed for kids to be kids. We've been at the MTA west LA location for 2 years and absolutely love it here! Our son started when he was 21mos, about 1.5 years into the pandemic so it was a very difficult transition for him. He's a shy kid and to this day he still struggles with drop off but every teacher has been patient and supportive. At the end of the day he's always happily playing and can't wait to tell us about the day's curriculum. Our daughter started when she was 6mos and has been there now for a year. She absolutely adores her teachers and they created a strong bond with her very quickly. The teachers even give our kids a chance to see each other during the day when they have the opportunity to. Our kids have learned some Spanish as well as sign language which allowed them to be more communicative at a younger age. Our son has a large vocabulary and we often get comments about how clearly he speaks and how well he is at explaining himself / story telling. He's also recently picked up simple math such as adding and subtracting and has started learning the letters and how to write. Our daughter is picking up new words every day and is always able to make her wants / needs known. She is also somewhat fearless but is continuously encouraged by her teachers to safely explore her boundaries while also not breaking her confidence - something that I am incredibly grateful for. We cannot say enough great things about this campus and the teachers. The facilities are great with a nice outdoor space where they do activities, water play, and have a sand box etc. Our favorite feature though is the gym which spans the entire 3rd floor. Here they have a play structure, bikes and tons of space for the kids to play, build and be creative. That was the biggest draw and why we chose this campus but the teachers are what has kept us here. They understand that every kid is different and have been great at managing change as our kids have grown and progressed through different phases (like potty training!) and classes. We also very much appreciate their health and safety protocols both during Covid and continuing into this post pandemic world. It's such a comfort knowing our kids are being well looked after every day! read more

Our daughter attended the MTA West LA location from 3 to 18 months of age. We had to switch daycares to something closer to home since we live in Van Nuys and the commute was too much, but we were very sad to leave. As first time parents, we were very concerned about the transition into daycare, but we were impressed with MTA's approach. They did an in-home visit before starting to meet the baby and answer any of our questions. We were particularly concerned about our daughter taking a bottle for meal time because she wasn't doing that well at home. MTA reassured us by having a experienced teacher who was particularly adept at getting babies to take a bottle (shoutout to Bianca), and it ended up being no problem! We could have been overly concerned parents, but the personalized touch was appreciated. The touchpoint with the teachers during dropoff + pickup is nice, and gives us an opportunity to ask any questions / share any concerns that we have. The teachers truly care about Ava and her well-being. We also really enjoy seeing the photos posted to the private Facebook group for parents. It really brings us joy seeing the activities that the kids participate in, and they clearly create an environment for the kids to learn in (vs strictly just play). Our biggest frustration has been in the way that some feedback gets communicated to us. It has been minor things, but sometimes it gets communicated in a way like "you should have known this", despite it not being called out in the parent handbook / being told to us otherwise. For example, needing to give 24 hours notice before picking up the child for a doctors appt, or making sure the bottle lids also have name tags on it (not just the button itself). Again, those are minor things, but resulted in some feel bad moments for us. Overall, we highly recommend MTA due to the quality of the teachers and the learning environment they create for the children! read more

We sent our daughter here starting at 4mo old, just as the city was shutting down with COVID. It was an anxious time, but the staff and leadership made me feel at ease with their safety protocols. In fact, they had less than 5 COVID cases until mask mandates were lifted almost 2 years later. The teachers there are wonderful and loving; my daughter was excited to go to school every day and every teacher who saw her would greet her by name. At first I was sad they do not send real-time photos of the kids but they do upload events like naps, snacks, diaper changes, etc. and are very communicative about incidents like nap starts/finishes, rashes, falls, etc. via a ProCare app. You'll also be able to join a Facebook group where pictures of the kids and various activities are posted fairly regularly. They use a Reggio approach which is child-directed, but they still learn a variety of topics through play. My daughter was able to count in English/Spanish, sing ABCs at a young age, and our pediatrician even remarked at her language development in comparison to others her age. Part of this may be individual but I firmly believe the social interactions they foster between the children/teachers was a big contributor to her verbal communication skills. They have ample outdoor spaces here, which is rare in West LA. The entire third floor is a full-sized basketball court with a large retractable roof where they have a playground and bikes, etc. Recently they also brought back a meal service option for lunches, which we never tried but appreciated having as back-up. We were so sad to leave this school due to a move. I'll admit that I even cried a little with some of the teachers on my daughter's last day. I cannot thank MTA and its staff enough for the care that my daughter received over the past 3 years. read more

We have been so happy at MTA for the past 3 years. I started my first son here when he was 1 year old, just when the pandemic began. He is now 4.5 years old, and both he and my second child (2yo) attend MTA. We have been incredibly happy with the leadership as well as each and every teacher my kids have had. The kids are always so excited to run to their teachers in the morning and when we pick them up in the afternoon are usually so engrossed in some activity they always want to finish before leaving. My 4.5 year old developed fantastic language skills shortly after starting at MTA and is actually able to read now (!!). He has also brought home unique skills like Spanish words, yoga poses, and knowledge of a variety of subjects related to nature, geography, and how things work. The teachers are very attentive and always give a report of how the day went at the end of the day. MTA is a larger facility and that might not be what some families are looking for, but we loved the huuuuge third floor gym with high ceilings and the outside space for the boys to run around and play. And despite its large size, they engage in such a huge variety of activities for the kids, tailored to each kid's experience outside of school (for example, if a child went on a trip to San Francisco they might do a class project building and discussing the golden gate bridge). They also bring in home life with the weekend wall and encouraging families to send in photos of the kids doing fun things to discuss during the week. I would highly recommend MTA! read more

We have two sons enrolled in Maple Tree Academy. MTA caters to the working parent schedule and requires FT enrollment, which was a must for our family, as both my husband and I work fulltime. We moved our older son from another daycare/preschool in the area in order to consolidate into one drop-off for infant care and pre-school that was closer to our home. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of our son's transition to MTA, and how he thrived in the student-lead learning culture. At his previous school, we dealt with some minor behavioral issues, but those issues vanished as he became comfortable with his new teachers and the MTA approach. We have had a good experience with the infant care program as well; the teachers are flexible and communicative as baby grows and needs a different schedule. Both of our sons look forward to going to school each day and we appreciate knowing they are being well cared for while we are at work! read more

Maple tree academy has been such a blessing for my family. Our son has been attending for almost 2 years. We started him in the sugar maples class when he was 1 years old and his teachers were so kind and loving. He is now in the 2-3 year old classroom and loves going to school. His development is great, he is so active and says his teachers are his best friends. The staff know all of the kids by name, know the parents, and are so kind. If you want a daycare who is going to continue to give you updates after the first week on your child , do not choose maple tree. Stephanie the director is not a good fit and shouldn't be the head of any daycare. If u have concerns for your child . This isn't a good fit and you will not receive your money back. They r only concerned with money finding someone else to fill your spot and they could care less about your hard working money and the concerns you may have for your children. We send our 2 kids to Maple Tree, our older one for the last 3 years, and it's been wonderful. The teachers are all phenomenal. They really care about every child and attend to their needs and providing an enriching, educational, and safe environment. They're also excellent about communicating regularly with parents and providing updates at every pick-up and drop-off. You can really tell how much the kids love their teachers based on their happy reactions. The app also makes it convenient to send messages and see the details of the day (for example nap time from start and end, how much snack was eaten, the daily learning which the teachers really commit to and provide a lot of opportunities for creativity and Spanish language learning, etc). The space is huge, providing lots of room for physical activity and playtime and wide spaces for babies learning to crawl and cruise. There's also a large gated outdoor area that has tall shrubbery for privacy. The school also has a dedicated security officer to whom all the kids love giving high-fives and definitely helps parents feel confident that they're in a very safe environment. Overall, Maple Tree has given us working parents peace of mind that our kids are growing, learning, and being safe and nurtured with fantastic staff. read more

We have sent both of our sons to Maple Tree and we absolutely love the place. We can't recommend them enough. Our oldest son just graduated and is off to kindergarten. He started at Maple Tree at 4.5 months old and absolutely thrived there for five years. He started at the Santa Monica location but moved to this location on Sepulveda when it opened. He was so well cared for by his teachers at every stage, from the infant room to the Big Leaf class, and he's got wonderful attachments to both friends and teachers. He also learned so much and was so supported in pursuing whatever new interests came up. While they spend time learning traditional things, they also spend a lot of time being active (in their beautiful gym facility) and following their imaginations. Our younger son started at Maple Tree at just 3 months old, and again, could not have been more well cared for. As parents, we've never been disappointed by Maple Tree and from a practical standpoint, their hours are incredibly accommodating for two working parents. read more
