Maple Hill Manor is a beautiful property and a truly lovely setting. The house, the bedrooms and the grounds are stunning. A great spot for a girls day or weekend getaway. I do want to leave an honest review for anyone with celiac disease considering booking their afternoon tea. I booked the gluten-free option in advance, so they were aware of my dietary need. When the food was brought out it was flagged as gluten-free (with a cute American flag stick) but had been placed directly underneath and beside the gluten-containing food on the same tray, making it unsafe for someone with celiac. Cross contamination is a serious issue for people with this condition, not just a preference. They did try to make it right by bringing me a replacement plate, the replacement was not comparable to the full tea experience and the tea came out cold. If you do not have dietary restrictions, I think you would really enjoy this place. If you have celiac, I would recommend calling ahead and having a thorough conversation about food handling before you book. read more

Very cool room with a library that's great for book nerds like myself. All you hear are the occasional cows mooing and apparently a rooster (I missed it, from the Lincoln room). The best part is dessert and tea in the dining room every night. Really nice stay, but keep in mind it's a small town, so try to get there early so you have some dinner options and can explore before things close up (seems like 8pm-ish). read more

The Maple Hill Manor B&B was our choice of lodging in Bardstown Ky. The B&B is actually in Springfield Ky. about 17 mi. from Bardstown. However, it's an easy drive to all of the attractions in the area. The B&B owners Catherine and Justin were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed the conversations with them and the breakfasts were tasty and filling. We stayed in the Stephen Collins Foster room which is on the first floor. It was large with a comfortable Queen bed and walk in shower and jacuzzi tub. Maple Hill Manor is tranquil and has a country atmosphere. If you prefer a B&B over chain Hotel/Motel give Maple Manor a try. We highly recommend it. read more

She also made a different dessert each night. Yum! We really enjoyed exploring the grounds and seeing the horse and alpacas each day. Todd the "owner" would not give me his last name and when in the end I said he was horrible he said I was a horrible person and people like me should die. My email after phone call to reserve: I am a Kentucky Native and just tried to make a reservation at your establishment. The rate for the Harriet Beecher Stowe room clearly says 129.00 on your website. You offer a coupon for email sign up for 10.00 off. I was delighted to think that I could stay for this price as I am driving down from Lexington May 18-19 to visit family cemeteries in the area. Because I did not receive the coupon right away in my email and the room I wanted was the only one left for my date at this price range, I hurriedly grabbed my phone and just called your reservation line. I explained the entire thing to the reservations person. I made the reservation and then asked for a total. He quoted me approximately 149.00. I asked if taxes were that much. Then he said the room rate was different than the rate advertised on the website, which is still up right now. He began to play a game of cat and mouse about the reservation saying if I clicked on the date the rate was higher. This is absolute bait and switch and I am livid. As I explained why I grabbed my phone and called immediately to have someone quickly lock in the reservation at the rate I saw on the page. So, no I didn't click on the date. That's why I called. He offered no help whatsoever and gave no alternative in customer relations service. He continued to tell me the same thing over and over like a loop tape as if I were stupid and did not hear what he said. I am infuriated that I was not told of a rate change and that you advertise a different rate on your website than what the actual price is. The reservations person proceeded to increase my ire and made me completely upset until I had to scream at him to stop repeating his idiotic babble. I am extremely angry that I did not get to spend a night at your establishment which would have dovetailed perfectly with my overnight trip to that are from my home in Lexington. Further, I want to express that the reservations persons unwillingness to offer ANY alternative or customer service was one of the worst experiences I have had anywhere. It was corporate, rude, inflexible and outrageous. I am extremely unhappy and want my reservation cancelled immediately. Further, I plan to write the worst reviews I have ever written wherever I can because what happened with me was unacceptable. And I am an easy going person who does not anger easily. You need to get rid of that reservations person because they are nothing but a robotic ass who has now created an incensed customer who has no outlet but to spew as far and wide as I can about how lousy Maple Hill Inn is. read more

I've been here three times and had a wonderful visit each time- staying in three different rooms. The entire space is cozy and comfortable, while also feeling posh. It's gorgeous! The alpacas are adorable and last time we were there they had two tiny babies! The grounds are perfect for lounging around. The beds are AMAZINGLY SOFT with GREAT SHEETS. Seriously. Breakfast is wonderful, and the hosts have been great- the owners, or a proxy on this last visit. Just a totally wonderful experience all around. I will say that the scenery and quiet is wonderful, but there isn't all that much to see or do without a bit of a drive. If you're looking for a quiet getaway to just be relaxed, this is it. Also- dessert served in the evening! And there's now a wider window to come down for breakfast, so no early rising anymore. Will be back, again and again, I'm sure! One note- it can be easy to pass the driveway, especially in the dark. It's a long and narrow drive, and while there is a marker and light at the end, it is on a country road so easy to zip past if you don't know what you're looking for. read more

We recently visited Maple Hill Manor for national alpaca day and had the most wonderful time! I absolutely LOVE alpacas and when I found out that there was a beautiful bed and breakfast not too far from Louisville that is surrounded by my favorite animals, I knew I had to visit. We were given some information about their alpaca breeds and strolled around the gorgeous property and farm store. I am definitely planning on staying the night there some time in the future. We made a Reservation later afternoon early evening On Bookings.com we received a email to confirm our reservation. We arrived and only 2 cars. We went in called the number that we was told to call no answer. We waited Rang doorbell And trying to call the number again. Finally a answer She came down it was 7 our time 8 their time. She was in a Short night shirt. She helped get us to our room and we still needed to find food. The beds were pretty bad and need replaced. Next morning at a Breakfast we was told that our Bill didn't show paid so I checked our account and it didn't. So the lady had us slide our Debit card on her phone. I checked our account showing paid You will be called My Love ALOT!! . $187 for no sleep. Plus yesterday we received a nasty call saying we didn't pay. 1 month later. I sent email proof of payment. Beyond performing as great hosts they also were extremely friendly and just good people. Brads breakfast was amazing each morning especially the brown sugar bacon and lemon soufflé. Amy was the best hostess taking care of our every need. We had fresh towels and sheets every day. The bedding was, well simply put, luscious. Six hundred thread count, combed Pima cotton sheets makes for a really good nights sleep. The grounds are well kept and have walking trails and also hammocks hidden away in the shade. Period furniture and antiques fill the beautiful manor. There's also a nice patio and fire pit. Life is very relaxing and comfortable at Maple Hill Manor. Todd could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and was made to be an innkeeper. Why trust our judgement? Well we are also like Todd..award winning innkeepers and thus we have high expectations and also sadly too much knowledge of inns that try and don't succeed! Whilst the decor was not what we would usually seek out, for hailing from the UK traditional historic style is something we actively avoid, this place had the the right level of history and practicality. Our sleep was good, the linen first class and the place quiet. Todd one of the owners has found his calling and I can see why the inn has not only won many awards, but also is very involved in the the Kentucky B & B lodging association. What we were surprised by was that for the bourbon trail there actually seem to be very few quality small inns to choose from. The grounds do deserve a special mention as they have been created over the last few years and resemble the best garden you could find in an English country setting. The whole area around Springfield reminded us of parts of rural western England, as it was green, luscious and unlike Vermont where we own our inn, the roads were a dream to drive on...didn't see one pot hole all week! Special praise has to be given to Todd & Tyler as the 3 rescue golden retrievers were sweet hearts and plainly were well loved. We also assume the alpacas have a charmed life, and you can easily buy many gifts at the inn derived from their coats. read more

Do not go to Maple Hill Manor UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY. Tina is a most extraordinary hostess. The home is elegant. There is always a freshly baked pie and cake if you need a snack. Watching the sunset from the upstairs back deck is very relaxing. The vistas from any vantage point on the property are bucolic. Have a Cocktail on the swing beneath the Cigar Tree. For our July birthdays, my boyfriend's dad and his dad's wife treated us to a night at Maple Hill Manor, and while the rooms generally need to be booked pretty far in advance (as of now, nearly every Saturday night is booked through the end of this year) we were lucky enough to notice a cancellation that allowed us to stay for a night in August. Since we didn't pick the place ourselves, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I haven't stayed in many bed & breakfasts so I have this idea in my head of a matronly hostess, flowered wallpaper, doilies on every surface, and an alarm clock that plays "I've Got You Babe" every morning. I was definitely off the mark, although our room did have flowered wallpaper. The manor itself is a beautiful building that dates to 1841. It was built over a three-year period by slaves, which didn't exactly help me sleep at night but it does tell you about the history. The ceilings are 13-feet high, and the exterior brick walls are three layers deep. This ensures a tranquil getaway; we were there during a massive thunderstorm and couldn't tell at all from inside. The rooms are all furnished with antique furniture, which is really nice given the rich history of the place. During the Civil War, the manor acted as a Union Field Hospital (it's not far from Perryville). We stayed in the Harriet Beecher Stowe room, which is thought to have been the operating room. The evidence? Blood stains on the ground, which is why it's the only room with a painted floor. I suppose some people could find that creepy, but I found it really neat! The grounds serve as an alpaca and llama farm, but these aren't the only animals you'll see there. They also have a horse, and two dogs. Additionally, a number of cats call the grounds home. The canines and felines are very friendly, so we spent a little quality time with them outside. The rooms and grounds are very nice but the gracious and attentive hosts, Tyler and Todd, are the reasons I'd go back. They do everything themselves--from cooking to cleaning to managing the farm--all with a welcoming and professional attitude. And speaking of cooking, the breakfast far exceeded my expectations. They obviously put a lot of thought into each meal and execute it reasonably well. I am not a large person but I cleaned my plate, and not because the portions were small. The food was good. In addition to breakfast, they offer a dessert platter with tasty baked goods in the evening. Overall, this was a really great experience. The price was totally reasonable (although I'm from California, so maybe this is the going rate for a bed and breakfast around these parts? In any case, it's worth every penny). If you live in Louisville, this is a really quick trip to make for a night or two, and you can easily head into Bardstown for dinner and touristy stuff. Also, this was the childhood home of football player Phil Simms, which means nothing to me but my boyfriend seems to think it's important. read more

We stayed here one night for our anniversary. Adam and Rachel provided a very relaxing stay. The rooms were comfortable and impeccably clean, the breakfast was well-prepared and delicious. The Alpacas were fun to watch. We wandered through the gift shop and found some great souvenirs. I especially enjoyed the living room space, where we enjoyed almond tart and brownies with a cup of coffee before bed. Entering the front door was a step back in time to a leisurely, relaxing stay. Really sweet charming B&B. Owners/staff were super nice and wanted our stay to be the best. We stayed in the Clara Barton Room, Lovely room, decor was very pretty. Breakfast was good. It was a rainy day and evening so we didn't get out to see the llamas but we saw them as we drove up and out our room windows. The next morning we did walk to where they were being feed. The girl offered to let me feed one. It's a charming place to stay and no doubt you will love it. If you don't, then try to be a more positive person. read more

We stayed at the Maple Hill Manor as part of our 1-year anniversary weekend (the other half spent at their sister property, Bourbon Manor B&B) and loved every second of it! The house sits on gorgeous property that offers the perfect peaceful and relaxing weekend getaway. What made our stay even better was Donna! She was so accomodating and fun to talk to throughout our short, but sweet, time there! The breakfast was amazing, and she even took note of what we ate for breakfast at the other property, so we wouldn't have the same thing twice! This was a great location to do the bourbon trail. Tod was super helpful and very gracious. loved the cozy feel of our "home" for a couple days. We had the Lincoln room, what a delight, we stayed in just looking at old books! actually it was too hot to sit outside in the inviting courtyard. the week we went it was 105... yikes. I have never stayed at a B& B before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was thinking of an older couple and a creepy setting. Todd & Tyler blew my expectations out of the water! This was my first get away w/ my GF alone together and could not have come to a better place. Nothing felt forced. The service & breakfast were amazing! We stayed at the Maple Hill Manor for Mother's Day weekend, it was a wonderful stay. We were able to drive to and from different bourbon distillery's (Maker's Mark and Haven Hill were what we chose) and also brought our dog (plus for us!). The house and the land around the house is beautiful. Donna was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our whole stay. We didn't know what to expect and we were very impressed! My husband and myself just got done spending a weekend at the Inn and I can say this was one of the best weekends I have had with my husband. Donna was the inn keeper this weekend and she is an amazing women. She was smiling when we arrived late Friday night and understood we were tiered and got us checked in and in our room in no time. Breakfast was AMAZING, seriously the best, pancakes one morning and French toast the next, definitely started our days off right. At one point in our stay there was a mix up with our town car, Donna was amazing in correcting the mistake and made sure my husband and I could continue enjoying our mini vacation while she figured it out!!! Loved this place! So much history and such a beautiful tranquil setting. Only a few comments. Way, way too much fabric softener on the sheets. That is all that I smelled in the room. I couldn't wait to get home and wash my pajamas because the smell was all over them as well. Kinda overwhelming but no big deal. There was a half eaten cake some pastries and a pie out when we arrived (none of it homemade) and was still out when we left a day later. Makes me wonder how long they sat out before we arrived. Just sayin'. On the other hand the breakfast was very good. Overall a very good experience and I would definitely come back! read more
