We stayed in a studio which has some pretty rad views, it's clean, and friendly service. If you have stayed next door in the lakeside apartments you will be disappointed in the quality, but hey it's half the price! The only drawback for me was the lower quality build means there is some traffic noise from the road out front. Wanaka has become a super busy tourist destination over the past decade, which has unfortunately brings crowds of people. Overall The Moorings is a decent value for money place to stay. But if your not so worried about what comes out of the wallet, hit up lakeside apartments... best place in town for sure!!

Not sure how they other rooms are but the walls were a bit thin as we could hear guests in adjoining rooms moving around. The other rooms appear to have a kitchen as we noticed many guests cooking their own meals. Wifi is free and fast and there is free laundry except coins are required for the dryer.

I emailed the motel & they sent me instructions on after hours check in (which was an envelope on the door). So check in was a breeze. The room itself is spartan, clean, and small but suitable for the price and location. The there's a kitchenette, a bed, small tv, and a shower. I think there's a laundry facility on the property but I didn't use it. Free parking was nice. The motel is a few blocks from all the shops in downtown Wanaka. The restaurants are all by the lake area. There's a large chain grocery store a block away. The worst thing about the room was that the walls are super thin so if you have noisy neighbors, your stay might be affected. Mine was fine. Would 100% recommend.

There was easy parking in the attached lot. The room had a fridge, microwave, and dishes. The bathroom has a light bulb heater. The tv had a good variety of stations. The volunteer fire department is close by and every time they get a call, the sirens sound and you can hear them. I heard them once during the night and once in the morning. The location is right in the middle of town. You can walk to the lake and restaurants.
