My first visit was somewhat disappointing. I explained to the doctor that my vision was getting…read moreworse and asked if I needed glasses. She dilated my eyes, had me read the chart, explained that my eyes were not perfect and told me it was due to dry eyes. This was ridiculous because I never had dry eyes until they were dilated. I bought the eye drops she recommended....my vision never improved. My followup visit was scheduled 6 months later at 9:30am. I arrived promptly. They asked for the identical insurance information which was already on file. They gave me a beeper and told me to wait in the car. After waiting for over 35 minutes without a beep I went back in the office, handed back the beeper and told them that I couldn't wait any longer. They told me that because of covid it takes time to clean the room. (What BS - alcohol drys in less than 30 seconds!) They assured me that the doctor will be ready in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later...no doctor....I left. I'm sorry....this is inexcusable. They evidently have no respect for a patient's time and certainly do not deserve my business. I will be going to another eye doctor.

Total bait & switch. They made me give my vision and health insurance cards - saying they only put…read morethrough health insurance if there is a medical issue. Needless to say - they insisted on putting through me medical insurance - which gives them a higher reimbursement and charges me a much higher co-pay. My prior optometrist always put through my vision insurance. There is nothing wrong with my eyes, but they noted "the start of age related cataracts (that won't require surgery for many years), and other minor things that don't need treatment. I have since heard similar stories from others. Also - their glasses are very expensive. They only had a handful that would be fully covered by my insurance. Buyer beware!

Dr. Janine Tabas replaced both of my thickening and darkening cataracts, about one year apart,…read moreusing different replacement lenses, which is not typical but which worked out marvelously for me. My vision now is simply amazing--I donated my glasses and tossed my lenses. Dr. Tabas is an outstanding diagnostician and a superb surgeon, and both procedures went off splendidly. I had to go out of pocket considerably to pay for two state-of-the-art lenses, but that's because insurance will rarely if ever pay for anything other than standard lenses which will give you near or distance vision but not both. It was worth it for such great vision, and the procedures themselves are basically painless! Don't hesitate to have this surgery because you're worried about pain or discomfort--it's a piece of cake! The only reason I did not give the practice a 5-star rating are the offices (there are two; one in Philadelaphia and one in Bala Cynwyd) and the staff. The staff are often not easy to work with, when you can actually speak to a human, and many times less than polite. There was also a billing issue after the surgery that I will give them plaudits for fixing. The surgical center in Bala Cynwyd is a different operation and they're no less difficult to reach or work with. And the surgical "prep" borders on the absurd; even though you are awake and aware, and are just given a mild sedative, Versed, that wears off very quickly, you have to get a doctor's signoff with a number of components and a signed EKG. It's just a CYA for the surgical center in my view. If you need eye surgery, I heartily recommend this practice and Dr. Tabas!

At the end of my appointment she told me call if it didn't get better and the next day ( Friday before Memorial Day weekend!)
