Do not give them your money. You will not be able to schedule a driving appointment for weeks. You log on when they tell you to, and all of the appointments are gone within seconds. They will not work with you, there is no recourse and no refunds. Perhaps a better business model would be to book the appointment first and then pay for it to secure the day and time. Jan 2025- This place is a joke! I paid almost $500 for the traditional package and other fees for my daughter to have BOTH the classroom /theory training and 7 driving practices using their cars. She passed the theory classes, we went to DPS and got her permit . we have been practicing with her, but MDS has not drive with her once yet. I called, emailed them asking for help (then no help provided , so I complained ) about the schedule2driving book system on Wednesdays at 4:30pm. Don't waste your time and money! That's a scam! They're enrolling more students than they can handle. they don't have enough drivers /availability to fulfill it. The schedule2drive website they use gets full in - no joking- in less than 1 minute and classes get full! It is Very frustrating. Jakob Howe has been ghosting my emails and not valuing his customers $ money. This is not a good way to do business sir. Good Customer service and honesty goes a long way. Great school with straightforward service. After finishing my driving practice through a now closed school, I can't undermine just how grateful I am that this school helped me finish the tedious task that is getting a drivers license. The administrator and overseer of my test was very kind and real, taking into account every little detail to grade by not only to the standards of Texas law, but the test taker as a person. I will admit I have no idea what the class portion for this school is like, but if you're in need of a place to take your driving test, I would definitely recommend the Mansfield Driving Academy. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this class for my son. You can only schedule 1 driving class every 2nd Wednesday and only book 1 class every 10 days. It will take forever to fulfill the 7 driving classes you pay for. My 1st time trying to schedule a class online and the system was glitching. I tried to call and schedule over the phone and I was met with the worst customer service you can imagine. I spoke with Julie who was rude, exhausted and had the nastiest attitude imaginable. If I could go back in time, I would not have spent my $550 on such a horribly ran establishment. I totally regret my decision to send my son here. Don't waste you time. Do NOT waste your time or money. Please read all the negative (and very true reviews). My older child had gone through this company about six years ago; at that time it was phenomenal. Fast forward to this year-my youngest daughter took the classroom portion and then had to wait several months to get her permit. Once she obtained her permit, about 2 months ago, I began trying to get drive times--I am not exaggerating when I say they are gone within seconds of being posted. Calling their office is absolutely of no help either. We just get "well, we will call you if something comes up." I specifically paid extra money for this school so that my child would get the driving experience with someone besides my husband and I. My son took his drivers ed course there. Apparently he even took a test to get his permit. After months of trying to get an appointment for his permit we started to look at the scheduling options for his driving lessons. The driving schedule is an absolute joke and a travesty. They must have dozens of students per session coming through and then when when it comes to drive time schedules it's an online system that opens at 1030am every Wednesday. It's like a a Black Friday sale where there are 100 people wanting the same thing, but there's only 10 of that item. 90% of the people are gonna get screwed. Good luck getting a spot. They're all gone in less than 5 minutes. Keep trying every week and it's the same thing. Sometimes someone cancels and you get a text that there's an opening and you go look and there's no opening. This happened in several occasions. It wasn't more than 30 seconds between receiving the text and logging in to check availability, and there's nothing. I called about the issues with this system and their response was less than helpful. I told them we're coming up on our one year and they didn't seem to care or have an answer. They told me not to worry about that and that I just have to focus on getting the drives in before the one year was up. After missing drive times it became mathematically impossible to meet the one year threshold. You automatically lose access after one year. I was simply told I keep trying and watch out for cancellation notices. Do Not take your child there. Go find somewhere else. They absolutely suck. It was a waste of time and money. You can have your child take an online course for the permit test for way less and go do driving lessons elsewhere that has more availability than a Black Friday sale every Wednesday. I cannot stress enough to stay away from this place. read more

Course content and class were just fine. The difficulty is in getting drive times scheduled for your student. They open up 7 days of drive times at 4:30pm each Wednesday, and I kid you not, within second of sessions posting they are already fully booked. Luckily we still have plenty of time to complete his remaining 5 hours of drive time, but keep in mind that you can't wait until the last minute to complete this. You'll find yourself totally frustrated and angry. We have been attempting to grab sessions for the last month and have been successful once. read more

We have had an excellent experience with Mansfield Driving Academy. I reached out by email months prior to ensure our 14 year old could take the classroom portion during the summer and received an answer back with in 24 hours. Knowing summer classes anywhere would fill up, I made sure to check regularly and well in advance for the summer course. We had no problems getting him registered for the classroom portion. Our oldest did his coursework online and finished up in August. Even though he did not attend Mansfield Driving Academy, I saw on their site that they offered on-road practice tests, the driving test, and the option to pay to submit the paperwork. I kept my DMV appointment just in case, until I secured an appointment with Mansfield Driving Academy, and kept randomly checking for drive-time availability. By planning ahead, we were able to secure a practice driving test the day before his 16th birthday and the actual driving test the morning of his 16th birthday. We paid to have them submit all of the paperwork to DPS. We followed all detailed instructions on Mansfield Driving Academy's site and they reminded us in person to keep checking TxbyTX. By 3pm the next day, we had his paper DL by email from DMV with no additional trip to the DMV. Thank you Mr. Howe and staff for all of your help. read more

I cannot say enough about how amazing Mansfield Driving Academy is. The owners are such compassionate and caring people. I took my son's girlfriend here since she was homeless and they worked with us to get her her driver's license. The communication is top notch. I see a lot of reviews about drive times and yes it takes a lot to get drive times but you have to remember that, like everyone else, they are struggling to find employees. Patience is a virtue. Do not recommend. Scheduling drive time with an instructor is like winning the lottery. They "release the schedule" online only on Wednesdays at 4:30. By 4:32 all of the slots are gone. If you get lucky and book one, you can't book another unless that date is 7 days out from the one you scheduled. If you happen to notice an opening for a better time, you have to cancel the appointment you already have. I did this once, by the time I canceled the appointment, my preferred time was gone, so was my original, and now I have to pay a $35 cancellation fee. Spend your money and time elsewhere. It will take your kid forever to finish their school. read more

I called and talked to Jaime,the office manager, but she didnt seem like she cared. Not a very postive look for me. I signed my son up at Sears Drving School. It was easy and they were friendly. This company is taking in more students than they can accommodate. To get drive time hours, you have to be on an app at 4:30 pm on Wednesday. That day, that time, no other. The app (Schedule2Drive) throws out the limited openings, and it becomes a feeding frenzy. Everyone tries to grab anything. No time to consider whether it works with your schedule. Just grab!! Occasionally, you'll make it to the CONFIRM page, but before you are booked, the time disappears. When you go back to try another date, they are all filled. The drive times are gone within seconds (no exaggeration) & the entire process is usually over within minutes. (5-6) I have sent emails but received no response. This company was great 15 years ago, but now it's an absolute nightmare. I am anxious every time I think about it (yes, now) & every Wednesday, I am a stressed-out mess. Their website does not specify that you are NOT allowed to use their test cars unless you take their drivers ed course... even though it gives you the option when you are signing up for a time slot online! I took my road test 7/7/20. It was obviously during the pandemic and we had to wear masks during the actual test. My instructor was very upset with me for multiple things. Such as my insurance in the car was expired and we had to wait for the company to send the correct one. She just left me in my car without telling me she was leaving. She got mad that I was talking to myself during the test. She took her mask off while in the car. She took points off for going to slow or stopping to far behind the stop sign. She took many points off for my parallel parking, I'm short so I cannot see very well. She should've given me some slack for that. Overall I was not very impressed with my experience here. read more

I came here to take my driving test. Best experience ever the ladies are very nice and professional I asked a couple of small questions and she was happy to answer them for me it was a very quick process she explained a couple of things to work on which I definitely will. If I had to take another test I would go here she made me feel comfortable my nerves disappeared when she started talking about where I would be going and letting me know ahead of time when approaching my turns. I scheduled my driving test a week in advance for the 20th of September. When on the phone the woman who works at the reception desk told me I needed my IITD, VOE, Insurance, and BTW driving log. She failed to mention that I needed to bring my own car, and she also didn't tell me I needed to have a parent with me, also she didnt tell me that I had to show up 20 minutes before my lesson. So on the day of the 20th I called the office around noon to confirm my testing time and ask if I needed to have my own car, no one answered. I didn't hear back from anyone at the school until 3:48pm 12 minutes before my exam where she told me I had to come in my own car. So I had to drive with my cousin back to my home in Arlington get my car and then go back to the driving academy. I arrived 20 minutes late due to this detour. Once I walked into the building and said I was here for my exam the woman at the front desk was very rude to me and said that I had missed my exam and it was too late. I then explained to her that the reason I was late was because she failed to inform me that I needed to bring my own car. Once she realized she had made that mistake I she then asked me if I had brought my parent with me. I said no, because you didn't tell me I needed to bring my parent. I had brought my cousin who was 23 years old with me. I asked to speak to a manager and she said we could wait if we wanted to. While we were waiting for the manager to come another group walks in. It is very obviously a brother and a sister. The boy was driving school age and the sister looked 19. He says he is there to take a driving exam and the woman at the desk asks if the girl with him is his parent. She says no that she is his 21 year old sister, but she is the only one that could come because their grandfather was out of town. The woman reluctantly says she'll have to ask the manager. Then the "manager" walks in. first the woman at the reception desk asks him if it's ok for the older sister to sign the forms and he then reluctantly agrees and allows her to sign the forms. My cousin and I are appalled, why did they get to take the test when the parent wasn't there, if I couldn't? The woman then tells the "manager" that we wanted to speak with him. I inform him of all the mistakes that his receptionist made and he calls me a liar. He said that there was no way the receptionist could have made a mistake and not given me the right information and said verbatim, "you're not my homeboy, you could be lying right now!" I was astounded why did he use the word homeboy? is it because I'm African-American and he thought I wouldn't be able to understand him if he did not use slang? I again explained to him that this was not my fault and I had done everything I could've with the information I had been given. He then told me that there was no way i could test today because he had a "volleyball game" to get to. I said that I didn't care, but I should atleast get a free reschedule because I wouldn't have chosen this time slot if I knew my actual parent had to be there and he said that I would have to pay another 40 dollars if I wanted to take the test on another day. Why did the student who also didn't have a parent get to take his test, and I did not? Why did the so-called manager refer to me as "Homeboy" and presume I was lying? The only difference between me and every other person in that establishment is that I am African American and they were all White. I payed the fee, brought all of my paperwork and my vehicle, and brought my cousin who was over the age of 21. I was late because I was misinformed, and all I wanted was to reschedule for a time my mother could make it. I was insulted, disrespected, swindled out of 40 dollars, and racially discriminated against by every person who was working at this establishment read more

A few standout negatives but overall really positive experience!! Classroom portion was easy and comprehensive. Had many good drive times that I honestly looked foreword too (mostly because it was way less stressful than driving with my parents). Had a couple of drive time instructors that were less than satisfactory. One was break happy, told me in very blunt language the several things that would "get you killed" on the roads (habits that i weren't practicing, by the way) and mentioned several people that had gotten killed that way. The other was on my practice test and from the moment I stepped in the car she treated me rudely and like i was ignorant. Admonished me for being TOO safe. Would have rather me turned and risked getting hit than forfeit my right of way, which in the real world not everyone follows. Gave me a 72 on my practice test and 2 days later with no additional practice I received a 92 on my final test, quite a discrepancy. My final test experience was wonderful! I purposely scheduled the times where I was told the woman I had for my practice test did not administer as my friends had negative experiences with her as well. My test admin was courteous and fair and gave me solid reasons for every point deduction. The only other negative i have is that the school google review administrator does personally attack every negative review he gets, which I find rather childish. read more

I loved MDA! You get 6 months to complete seven drive times which is plenty of time! Their prices are lower than the other driving school in Mansfield and the owner even lets you email him directly with questions. Someone told me about that huge negative review so I read it and I have to say that I heard directly from someone that was there and apparently that person was 45 minutes late to his appointment with no guardian and started cussing at the front desk lady when he didn't get his way. I've talked to MDA on the phone before and they're always respectful and informative and it's not fair to target a small business for the sake of spite. There were no racist comments or racial profiling. Show up late to your appointment and you don't test, it's not that hard. Pretty sure that's how the DPS works too. The lady on the phone even tells you to be 20 minutes early in case you're missing paperwork or are in need of anything else prior to testing. The people at MDA are professional and appropriate, ask anyone else that's been through there and they'll tell you the same thing. read more
