My girlfriend suggested that we go to Manor Farm last night. Although she's been before, this was my first visit, and she felt that our experience last night was fairly typical. We were seated straight away, at a table which although had been cleared of the previous diners debris, the table had not been wiped. This however was rectified straight away, although not particually enthusiastically. The menu has a good selection of food, and is reasonably well laid out, and we quickly made our choice, which then came to the ordering. This being essentially a pub restaurant, you have to queue at the bar to make your order. Which would normally be acceptable, however Manor Farm only has one till dedicated to food orders, and as a result if you arrive at a busy time, have to stand in line quite a long time to place your order. As I mentioned earlier this appears to be the norm, and a long wait to order food is part of the 'Manor Farm experience'. Having had to wait a long time to order, I was expecting an equally long wait to actually get our food, however I was quite wrong! Our meals arrived within about 10 minutes. My girlfriend had the steak pudding with pepper sauce. She enjoyed it, but warns that the pepper sauce is a lot more peppery than you might expect. However this did not distract for her enjoyment, as why would you order pepper sauce if you did not enjoy pepper??? I had the cheese, pea and green bean chimichanga (sp?), for the light bites menu. This was full of flavour, and far better than I was expecting. The prospect of another long wait at the bar put us (me) off the idea of having a dessert, so we retired to the bar. Sadly, and bearing in mind this place was only refurbished about four years ago, I felt that the décor and furniture were starting to get a bit tired. We will no doubt return in the future, if only because it is round the corner, so we can walk there easily. Sadly it is nothing special for the hundreds of other pubs in the area, and I would not be tempted to travel any great distance. The whole experience would be so much better if they could sort out the system for ordering food. read more

A group of 24 people booked a lunch on Wednesday 8 August. One of the ladies went into the pub three days before the lunch with a spreadsheet with all meals chosen. Went in the Tuesday evening before the lunch to ensure all was ok. Arrived Wednesday lunch time and was told one of the main meals was not available, then told one of the sweet not available. Served startes, then the main meals, which two were changed. Then, they said they would serve the sweet, that was when it all went wrong. First we had ordered 10 Caramel Apple Crumble, young gentleman informed us they only had 4 Caramel Apple Crumble, 6 people had to choose again for menu, then 3 other people were told that they would have to ordered again as their first choice was not available either. Asked - why they were not organised as we had pre-ordered 3 days before the lunch. Answer - the lady I had spoken to on the Sunday at 3 o"clock when I went in with the spreadsheets had not given the spreadsheets inform to the chef and the chef was not given the pre-ordered meals until the morning of the lunch. But as I know when I went into Manor Farm on the Sunday afternoon the spreadsheets where put in the A4 diary which had our booking in. So why didn't the staff doing the jobs correctly and order from their suppliers. I also went in to Manor Farm Tuesday evening the night before the lunch to ensure all was ok, so why didn't the staff let me know that some of the meals were not available. Because of all the changes with the sweet menu we had to wait a long time for the kitchen to get their act together. The bill was over £171 which was incorrect. I had to go through the bill one item at a time because of all the changes on the sweet menu, which was not our fault, it was Main Farm's. We were offer a voucher for 2 people, we declined because there is 24 people. Then offer 10% off bill which we thought was inadequate. So because of Manor Farm our luncheon with friends was a disaster. Put two star but think one read more

Went for a carvery on a Sunday and was disappointed. Those roast potatoes were never done from scratch, it's not hard to do proper roast potatoes. I'd go elsewhere, won't go back. read more

Made a second visit to Manor Farm, i had heard it was better than the average pub grub. On our 1st visit we had mixed grills and whilst we have had a lot better it wasnt to bad. We waited a few weeks and went back again this weekend, the place was busy, but the service was good, my issue with this place is the food at best is average. We had 2 steaks and sweets, both courses ok, but not good enough to go back a 3rd time. You get what you pay for and if you want a cheap meal then Manor Farm is worth considering, but in my opinion if you spend a few pounds more there are plenty of places in Hull that serve a much better offering. read more

This is now called Manor farm. Pretty average fare but the gimmick is that all main courses are two for the price of one, but considering they are around £8-£10 each, it's not really that much cheaper than elsewhere. The food is served in enormous portions, but they do have a light bite menu for those with smaller appetites. Quality is fair and service average. It is quite nicely decorated now after a refurbishment in 2007. It does have a great outdoor space, brilliant for children to run around in by day and adults to enjoy drinks out by night (when it's warm enough!). Saying that, this isn't really a drinking pub - more a place to have a meal, although they do now have a few comfy places to sit and enjoy a pint. It can get quite busy, but it never feels cramped and there is practically no atmosphere regardless of the numbers. It's ok and good for the service it provides, I often meet friends here for a bite to eat and a chat after work rather than a fun night out. read more

I have been visiting manor Farm for well over a year now. I find the food to be of good standard and the place to be clean. The service is pretty quick & you can always get parked. Try to avoid the bar toliets & use the ones at the back of the pub, much nicer. The only grumble I have with the pub is staff are sat about in a group near the bar. So when you want serving they have to walk over, go behind the bar and serve you. Shouldn't they be behind there all the time ? Ready to serve ? There is also a young man there I believe that drives the Mini cooper. if I was the ladlord/lady I would certainly be questioning his role in the business as every time I am there he is on the laptop in the bar or chatting to staff again sat in the bar. My boyfriend and I visited this pub earlier this month and were absolutely appalled by the the rude and arrogant customer service from one of the bar staff. We were sat outside and had finished our first round of drinks, so my boyfriend went inside to the bar and asked for a pint of guinness and a dry white wine and soda. Upon his return I noticed that I'd been given Chardonnay instead of Pinot Grigio. I understand that some pubs do class Chardonnay as a 'dry' white wine but not once since I've been visiting this pub (18 months) have I been given Chardonnay. It's a question of personal taste and this wine is just too fruity, oaky and heavy for my palate. Anyway my boyfriend went back into the pub to change the wine for me, to which the bar person refused and said he got the drink he asked for. We found his attitude shocking and when he came outside to collect empty glasses, this individual was very confrontational and rude. This person seriously needs to go on a customer service skills training course asap! My boyfriend also had a word with the assistant manger about the dreadful customer service and clearly this person wasn't in the best frame of mind either and was quite flippant. I am a registered mystery shopper and have completed many assignments for pubs/restaurants in the area, all I can say is that it's a good job that I wasn't mystery shopping Manor Farm on that particular evening! This is our local pub and in the past we've visited for either meals and/or drinks have always found the staff pleasant and courteous. Hopefully this is a 'one off' but it really spoilt the rest of our evening. read more

My family and i went to manor farm on saturday night,i decided for the carvery option big mistake should have realised when there was no one waiting.Two choices of meat turkey and i think the other was pork i honestly couldnt tell ,peas,carrots,sprouts cauliflower cheese,the peas were tinned the carrots dry and hard cauliflower cheese well horrible! roast potatoes more like deep fried and deep fried again they were cremated! The gravy was one gloupy mass disgusting! i forgot the roast parsnips less said the better!.Never eat a carvery here again! read more

Average food but handy for where we are and ok value with the 2 for 1 deal. contrary to the info on this page they are open 7 days a week and serve food until 9pm every day. read more

Went today for a Christmas lunch, all I can say is that the roast potatoes were nice.........the turkey was not off a whole turkey as you would expect at christmas, but shop bought cooked meat, veggies were hard, gravy was just gravy powder and water, certainly won't be going back! read more

we had a family get together last saturday night,10 people in all.the attitude of one of the members off staff was disgusting.i had my 4yr old son with me and ordered a small bites fish and chips for him,but was refused because he was not 5yrs old. the supervisor came to our table and said you will have to order a kids meal,it is company policy.i asked this supervisor how she could tell my son was not 5 her stupid remark was i have a 5yr old child.any parent should know that children grow and develop in different ways.that put a downer on the night and will not return to that place again please be a ware as they seem to look who is coming through the door.the menu states for people with small appetite and great for kids.did not make any sense to me or the rest of the party. read more
