From the moment I first walked through their doors until the day my child started, they have shown nothing but consistency, kindness, and dedication. The facility is spotless and inviting, and the teachers, along with the owners, always greet us with warmth and professionalism. They've become like family to us. Our boys eat a healthy well balanced lunch (& snacks) everyday and often tell me that Ms Tonya is the best at cooking! Most of all, the staff at ABC Land is exactly what every parent could wish for. It is very hard to leave your children at a new school with people they've never met but after just one day, my boys couldn't wait to go back. The staff show us, every day, how much they care for our boys through their patience, kindness, and understanding. They provide creative and stimulating projects for the kids while also allowing them to explore their own imaginations. Lastly, the owner and director are extremely professional, communicative, and compassionate. They assist with additional needs a child may have and demonstrate empathy for families going through difficult times. I am forever grateful to the staff at ABC Land and feel so lucky to have found this gem of a preschool/daycare.

Our son started having some behavior issues at first we were told it was a phase. Even our family doctor thought it was a normal development phase. When the Daycare finally told us they felt his behavior wasn't a phase and needed professional help we started the process to get him an assessed and behavioral help from professionals. Literally the day we informed him that he had been approved for, and would be getting assistance they kicked him out because they felt he was a safety risk. however curiously during that phone conversation where we were telling them he was approved the admin stated that if the assistance was full wrap around coverage then it wasn't good enough (note wrap around is only for 2.5 hours a day and only given if the rarest of situations.) The professionals that had assessed him in their school was stunned when we informed them and literally put in writing she didn't believe he was a safety risk at all. We even tried talking to the teacher and she just told us she couldn't get involved. There was no meetings, no conversations, no warnings, there was no documentation to prove their claim. there was just a letter in his folder that day saying as of that Friday he was no longer allowed to attend. this was on a Wednesday He literally cried all night and then everyday for the next couple weeks when he couldn't go back and see his friends. We have struggled since then because he just wants to go back and doesn't want anything to do with his new daycare and it has made working on his issues even more difficult. Even now several months later we are still stunned and confused. And why we still don't know because the administrator of the site and the owner have refused to communicate with us in any fashion.

They offer: college educated teachers, they have four stars with the Keystone Stars Program, they use creative curriculum at its highest level incorporating field trips and guest speakers in various occupations who come and speak to the children. This isn't your typical Child Care Center. This is an Academy that develops brilliant children. My children never want to leave and I am always impressed with what they have learned each day. Whether your child is 6 weeks old or 13 years old there is plenty of activities to keep their minds occupied. Don't waste your time going to other Day Cares, Step by Step is the place for intelligent minds and caring teachers and their rates are very reasonable.

Ah Sonshine. So had I been writing this review early on with my time there, I'm not sure how many…read morestars I would have given, as I wasn't quite sure how comfortable I was with the whole idea of the "religious preschool" thing, given that we are not a particularly religious family ourselves. But Sonshine was close by and came recommended by a few friends, so we gave it a try. That was five years ago; I have since put both my kids through Sonshine, and after all is said and done, Sonshine earns a five star rating. Ultimately, your experience at a daycare/preschool is going to be shaped by the quality of the people working there, and all of the staff we encountered over the years were either good or great, some genuinely outstanding. The quality of the personnell there is a reflection on Margie and Carol, the two owners/senior administrators of the school. I got to know both of them a bit over my time there; it is clear Sonshine is their "baby" and they treat it correspondingly. As both of my kids are now a bit older, I can barely remember the stress of wondering if your kids were in good hands for the 8 hours a day you were at work was like. I never had to worry, because I was comfortable with Sonshine from the beginning, and at the end, was very grateful to have had them taking care of both of my kids.

She started when she was 15 months old, and is now almost two and has an amazing vocabulary. She knew sign language before she started talking a lot, which was very helpful to communicate with her. I think it's great that there are only a handful of times that she's watched TV there in 9 months, and it's times that's seem reasonable. Such as part of a special lesson, or the very end of the day right before the long vacation while the teachers were cleaning up. When I asked about it once, they explained the reasoning for it that day, and offered to let my child do something else if/when they do it again, but I didn't think that was necessary. We aren't religious people, so we don't reinforce the Christian concepts at home, but we don't feel like they are overwhelming either. Not a huge fan of my daughter saying the "pledge of the allegiance" to the bible after the flag, but I guess that's what you get when you pick a religious based daycare. We have our second child due in a few months, and they are already registered for here when I go back to work.

This review is based on two months in the infant room. I found Rising Stride while I was pregnant…read moreand there wasn't a waitlist like other places, I'd also talked on the phone with a parent who'd written a positive review. I wanted to love this place because their location is accessible and I liked that they have cameras. However, the camera access caused more stress for us because we saw how long they would leave our child in containers (swings, exersaucers) or on nursing pillows. I often tried to advocate for my child or ask the staff to do more activities during the day, but would end up feeling like I'd have to make up for it at home on weekends so we wouldn't be behind. We were in feeding therapy because of bottle feeding difficulties and trying to create positive associations with bottle feeding, but we saw on camera that they were forcing the bottle and setting our progress back. So we stopped sending them altogether and I'd go nurse in the back room twice during the work day. From all the time I spent there I became less confident that this was a place for my child to develop and thrive. They were inconsistent in enforcing their health protocols or delayed in notifying families (if at all). We decided to leave when the director told me I needed to come nurse more frequently than 2-3 hours like I was doing or get a doctor's note saying it's okay (it was totally developmentally appropriate by the way). I truly believe the teachers at Rising Stride loved on my child and did the best they could, but I don't think they are equipped for children that need individualized attention or have developmental delays. The staff were often overwhelmed and the environment felt very chaotic, even my child felt sensory overload and was distracted during feeds. I can say that since leaving we found a better facility that meets our needs and my child is actually comfortable enough to take a bottle with longer stretches in-between. I'm glad I trusted my mommy instincts, because the environment and fit really matters.

I am grateful we had…read moreaccess to the cameras 24/7 so I could see my infant spending HOURS at a time in the swing, which also included them allowing my child to sleep in the swing which is not allowed. I could see them violently rocking the crib to make my child fall asleep and also piling blankets in the crib while in there. I saw them put mini boppy pillows around infant's necks to hold up their bottles instead of taking the time to feed the poor babies themselves (it is state law that an employee must feed a child until they are 6 months old). The teachers did no activities with the children, no tummy time, no reading books, nothing. The teachers were not nice and warm, they did not respond to infants when they were upset and they spent most of the day on their phones. I also witnessed them taking an ear thermometer from child to child (without washing it) to try to find a child with a fever. Once they found a child with a fever, they all jumped for joy and called the family to come pick up the child. I would not recommend this daycare to anyone; there is a reason it was the only place in the area without a waitlist. I do want to point out this was in 2024, but with the recent happenings at the daycare in Oaks, I would regret not sharing my experience if it happens to save a family from potential danger. I would also suggest looking up the daycare review/complaints on https://www.compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch/#/childcareprovidersearch because this center has some pretty nasty confirmed complaints/cases.

The staff is absolutely wonderful--caring, attentive, and truly treat my child like their own. They go above and beyond the standard curriculum, offering so many enriching activities and hosting multiple events throughout the year that actively engage parents and showcase the children's creativity. The outdoor play area is fantastic, with a large grassy space that gives the kids plenty of room to run and explore, plus fenced-in play areas with fun, developmentally appropriate play equipment and toys. Every morning when we arrive (right at opening due to work schedules), the staff is already there with smiles on their faces--and so is my son! He's excited to go each day, which speaks volumes. The facility also makes safety a top priority. Access is secure, with entry controlled by keycode and monitored by a ring camera--staff greet parents at the door and let them in individually. When someone other than me picks up my son, staff verifies they are on the approved list and checks ID without fail. I really appreciate that level of diligence, care, and security. Another big plus is the use of the Brightwheel app. It makes daily updates seamless--check-in/out is easy, and I receive updates and photos throughout the day that give me peace of mind and help me feel connected to what my son is doing. My son is absolutely thriving here! Enrolling him in Li'l Tykes has been one of the best decisions I've made. Since he started daycare, I wanted him to be in a place that feels like he's with family. We found it at Li'l Tykes! He'll be here until he's ready to go to kindergarten! I cannot recommend Li'l Tykes enough for anyone looking for quality and reliable childcare.
