My first night in Berlin came after a marathon transatlantic journey from San Francisco, so I was in no mood to explore what I initially saw as a labyrinth metro system. Luckily I was staying in the somewhat stylish albeit quiet Charlottenburg district. Dining choices were either exorbitant or nonexistent at 8PM, but now that Yelp is in Germany, I was able to find Manjurani just a few doors down from Hotel Otto on Knesebeckstrasse. Indian food in Germany? Fine by me since I really didn't come to Berlin for the local food anyway. It turned out to be a surprisingly satisfying Indian restaurant with reasonable prices. The German touch came in the form of the beer garden picnic benches in front where naturally all the youth gravitated. Otherwise the interior looked like a Pier One fire sale with lots of silken, jewel-colored throw pillows and wall hangings. The waiter is fluent in several languages from what I could hear, and fortunate for me, English is one of them. They offer a robust menu heavily in need of translation, although I went with two foolproof dishes I would have ordered anywhere. The Tandoori Chicken (6.90 Euros) came out sizzling hot on an iron pan covered in aluminum foil (see photo). It was quite tender with plenty of peppers. The standout, however, was the Shahi (Lamb) Korma (8.90 Euros), which came with generous chunks of meat swimming in a pool of a thick coconut sauce (see photo). The two dishes came with a side salad that I had never seen in an Indian restaurant - a cole slaw-type concoction heavy with yellow peppers, onions, and a runny mayo-like sauce (see photo). Sue me, I liked it. Actually I liked the dinner enough to join the other two Yelpers in Manjurani's support camp. FOOD - 4 stars...hearty, tasty Indian food can be found in Berlin AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...who's sari now? The good - Food is good. I got the Tikka-Chicken and it came sizzling and smelly that the guy next to me made the same order. The waiter - is good and extremely in a good shape. I am not sure how is he holding 6 hours or 12 hours shift constantly walking back and force. He spent 2-3 seconds next to each table with minimal customer interaction. Bottom line, another waiter will make this place 4 or even more star place. And the real bad is when I wanted to pay so the credit card machine was broken (no visible sign in the restaurant) and both my AMEX and VISA were denied. I took $20 and that was not convincing either since the waiter had no idea about the exchange rate and what to do with $$$. Oh well, after I told him I have no other mean of payment he cashed my $20 and even gave me a change EURO's. read more

We found this place through other yelpers while on holiday, thanks YELP! Very tasty food - we had a platter with chicken tandoori (which my boyfriend RAVED about) and a korma-like vegetarian dish, beautiful fragrant rice and soft naan. Hilarious service (the waiter was in great form and whistled birdsong as he went about his job). The décor is no frills, but in this place content is miles above style and the price is fantastic; brilliant value for money, excellent food. read more

This was my first time here, the menu was in German, with the help of my server I ordered a lamb curry and beer. The lamb curry came with rice and a pickled salad, and was spicy yet delicious. The staff are super friendly, and you can either sit outside or hide under a blanket inside. Great place! read more

Huh. Funny that I had to travel halfway across the world to have the best Indian food experience I've ever had...and STILL not be in India. Go figure, eh? Staying on Knesebeckstrasse in Charlottenburg and not knowing really where to go, we hoped that a little neighborhood place like Manjurani would be a good bet--and it is! It's a good sign that it always seems to have patrons--be it one table or seven, you can tell people are filtering in to have some delicious (and reasonably priced) Indian food. Manjurani has all the staples you'd hope for in veggie, chicken, and lamb form. We went with our favorites from home--samosas, garlic naan, chicken jalfrezi, and mattar paneer--and we were NOT disappointed. Albeit a tad spicier than expected, our mains were bursting with flavor, and NOT in a bad way. The jalfrezi may have been my favorite, with its fresh peppers and chunky peppered sauce. And the chicken, OH, the chicken--it was soooo tender. I am still imagining it in my mouth. Otherwise, the samosas were crisp and hot and the naan was on point with its nooks and crannies of puffy hills and peaks of crunch. Uh, yeah. To top off our experience, our waiter was outrageously awesome. He was so jubilant and friendly, he was practically whistling as he worked--oh wait, he WAS actually whistling--like a happy bird in the springtime, running back and forth, jumping from table to table in delight. And not to mention, he spoke at least three languages that we could discern. So, note to other English-speaking tourists: you are most welcome here. Manjurani--a little neighborhood gem that shouldn't be ignored. Not only will you walk out with a full belly, you'll also leave with a warm heart. P.S. Oh! Oh! Lunch special! For like 3 or 4 Euros! My lunch at Manjurani was a 10/10 experience. The vegetarian thali was the most delicious Indian meal I've had outside of India. How could palak paneer be so tasty? How could bhatura be such a perfect balance of softness and crispness? Not only is the food great, but the ambience and service is just as impeccable. The server, noticing that I was very unwell, offered me a cup of chai. And there were awesome 90s Bollywood songs blaring from the kitchen. What more does a homesick desi girl need? The food here is excellent! Dining alone, I had a Thali, which is a very inexpensive sort of prix fixe with three mains, a salad, rice, naan, a desert and a mango "cocktail". I think that the mains are intended to be small, but they are not, really. Their flavors are intense. I think that their tandoori chicken is the elevated ancestor of American barbecue. The restaurant is about a block from Ernst-Reuter-Platz and about 60m from my hotel. Go there. read more

Pretty darn good. Thanks Yelpers for your help finding this :)! For 10 Euro I had a mango lassi, plain naan, and the chicken saag which came with rice and a little green salad. The lassi had good mango flavor (not super yogurty). The main dish was very good: excellent flavor and very succulent texture on the chicken. The rice was perfectly cooked and nicely and very lightly flavored. The naan was the lamest part of the meal (okay, it had stiff competition): it was just a bit floury/somehow undermixed/totally unseasoned. The little iceberg salad had some nice onion pickle on top and provided a refreshing texture variation. I boxed up leftovers for a small brunch the next day. read more

We went to Berlin for a week long stay to take in the history, culture and food. However, one night we decided to look locally near to our Hotel in Charlottenburg and thought, why not have a curry?! Being British, it was a bit of an easy choice and we knew what to expect. The (only) waiter greeted us and told us to sit anywhere we liked. He was very funny, spoke fluent English and seemed like he enjoys his job a lot. We ordered Samosas, Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Saag and a Garlic Naan, all of which were really tasty, especially the Saag. The food easily rivals and beats a good British curry house so you won't be disappointed. The only thing that was slightly frustrating is that the card machine didn't work so I had to dash out and withdraw some money. As another reviewer has said the same thing, which was posted in February, it's about time they got it fixed. Overall, it's excellent value for money, a really pleasant atmosphere and definitely worth a visit. read more

I found this restaurant on Yelp and based on the 1 excellent review decided to try it for a pre-opera dinner with some friends. (It's just 2 blocks from Schiller Theater and not much farther to Deutsche Oper.) I have to say, it lived up to expectations. Manjurani is quite reasonably priced, especially for the area. We had excellent, very friendly service which was a pleasant surprise for Berlin. We tried 4 dishes among us, all chicken & lamb, and sampled a bit of each other's so I can say that everything I tasted was delicious, including the cheese naan that the waiter recommended. The mango lassi is tasty also. Overall, I think this was an excellent restaurant and would definitely recommend it for good Indian food and service. read more

We had tried almost 15+ indian restaurants and we will rate this as top most. Best thing we found about this is , they don't seem to use "ready made gravy" to prepare dish quickly. Must try in case you like indian dishes. read more

last week I visited Berlin where I got an opportunity to try the best Indian food.My German friend Stefan Hoffman took me to the Manjurani. We ordered Punjabi Grill and Chicken Karahi.The food was awesome. It was delicious especially the sauce.I was amazed to eat such a relative tasty food with salad and irce on such a low price. The best thing in the Manjurani is its friendly environment.I felt that as I was eating in my home.The service was superb.I will deeply appreciate the worthy humor of the service. Myself and seven of my coworkers came here on a Saturday night at the end of a week-long business trip to Berlin. We were greeted right away, told to sit anywhere we liked. Our waiter was great, as others have said--spoke fluent English and was extremely helpful with all our questions, and had a fantastic sense of humor, too. The food? Easily the best Indian I've ever had, from the starters to the massive grilled meat platter that was my main course. All eight of us had different entrees, and not a one had anything but praise for them. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a go. read more

I am an Executive manager of Park Plaza Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand. Few days ago i went in Berlin Germany to visit my brother's new born baby and just had a lots of fun, concequently my bro took me to a restuarent named Manjurani. I'd just surprised the food was as much delicious as i could'nt expect, it was really beyond my expectation. Moreover, when they became known that we are asian, i'd understood they're also giving us extra service as complementry, personally i am overwhelmed about their food and service together and i can say - as how many times i will visit in Berlin, i must come here. As its true that my brothers family is regular guest of them and i wish i could be. And one last thing i visited lots of places and acutally i'v found its food very much reasonable.
