When in Manila, you have to visit the area! They did so much clean up in the area. It's a great walk and picture opportunities. Ample areas to pick a quick bite. So impressive how they did the clean up ... the pictures of before and after ... so happy to I have seen the Dolomites beach in person. read more

Manila Bay is stunning at sunset. It is magical. Kids are running around, locals are exercising, and street vendors are aplenty. The sunset is calming and even with the crowd and the noise it is wonderful. There is a mall nearby to start your walk and a huge Ferris wheel within walking distance. If you are anywhere near there, I really would go for the sunset. Sadly, the place is not clean, not the beach area and not the water. You can not swim it, the pollution is so bad. There is a government program to clean it all up and from what I have read it is much better than it was. The smell is not fun and I would never go anywhere near there in bare feet. Keeping that in mind, it is still a lovely sunset and I love watching kids play while the day ends. read more

Honestly, I only checked it out because of that huge news of Manila Bay finally getting cleaned! (If one saw its appearance before the clean, one would think it'll have to take an act of God for that task to be done! I mean, how embarrassing is it for tourists to see this dump of Manila Bay as they drive through coming from the airport?! That's never a good first impression.) It's been 30+ years since I last came through and even as a kid, it wasn't impressive then (and by that, I mean it was cluttered and pretty much "meh") Never really had the desire to go back mostly since my family live way too far out from here. But as previously mentioned, I was curious of the outcome from the cleanup project. And it IS true what they say on the news: it really is clean. There was very (VERY!) minimal trash (which I assume will be cleaned out eventually) and just all around a pretty area to be walking around in. There are still street vendors, sure, but not as abundant as before. It really is a nice place to just hangout. (Kinda feel bummed I didn't bring my phone/camera, dang it.) But Kudos, current President Duterte and mostly to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to FINALLY get this done during my lifetime! Really proud of that accomplishment! If the timing is right, I might just kick it here for a bit next time I come visit the Philippines! I hear the sunset is magnificent... read more

There is none as pretty a sight in the city of Manila as the Manila Bay sunset. I am happy and I feel awfully blessed to be a Manila born and bred creature, because there is so much natural beauty in this city. It's mostly hidden in plain sight, truth be told, also because of the man-made stuff that make the scenery "noisy." The Manila Bay scenery cannot be hidden though. The beauty from sunrise, to sunset, to midnight more than makes up for the stress of living in Manila. It's an excellent place to people-watch too. And a place where the rich and the poor folk converge. You'll see obviously well-to-do people exercising and strolling, and you'll see street urchins and middle class families alike sharing this space. I wish there were more of these places and I wish that everything will be done by both government and citizens alike to preserve the continued safe and common use of the bayline, but most importantly, I wish rehabilitation efforts will succeed. I kinda wanna see a clean Manila Bay in my life time. Maybe try to swim in it one day! read more

I like this bay area. Even if it does smell funny (okay, when I say "funny" you know exactly what I really mean). Perhaps I like it because it's the only one here in Manila, and that makes it *special*. But really, I don't think Manila will be just as charming without this body of water, and the baywalk. If you're in for a more nitty-gritty experience, the baywalk area that's outside of Mall of Asia's grounds are the more adventurous areas--great for jogging, biking, sitting around watching sunset and walking your dog. But, be prepared to encounter questionable folks here. But if you'd like a safer, baywalk experience, the area behind Mall of Asia is one that can be a lot more enjoyable if say you're on a date, with your group of friends, or your family. Aside from sitting their waiting for the sunset, there are actually other things to do such as exercise (haha I'm serious they have those exercise 'thingies' there), eat at one of the many food establishments lining up the area, or if you have kids with you, there are numerous, obvious activities that can keep them occupied. read more

One of the things that impressed me the most when I moved to Manila was the beautiful sunset at Manila Bay. Taking a walk there is such a pleasant activity that I recommend it to everyone visiting the city. And the best thing: it's for free! Start the tour at Mall of Asia, since there you'll find MOA Eye (Mall-of-Asia Eye), the giant ferris wheel that's a must-visit in Manila. Then just stroll along the seafront and enjoy the unique landscape. It's always relaxing. I also like it's ecletic atmosphere: there you can see people jogging, kids having fun and young couples on a romantic outing framed by the poetic sunset. For all those reasons I go to Manila Bay whenever I have a friend from another country visiting here. It always make a good impression. read more

Manila Bay - a place rich in history, witness to a number of changes that the Philippines has gone through. There are a lot of exciting activities that one can do around the area. There's the Manila Bay Sunset Cruise where you can see its beauty up close. The Manila Ocean Park is always a good option too, they have the most adorable penguins that you can touch and interact with. In the mornings, you will find that a lot of people training for marathons running around the bay in full workout gear. There are a lot of places to eat at around the area, the famous Aristocrat is also near Manila Bay. If you have time (or if it is getting too humid), try going to Mall of Asia, there are also a lot of attractions there (Ferris Wheel and a mini version of Anchor's Away), and it can be a good date spot for young couples. read more

My mother once said that when she was in high school, she and her friends would often take a stroll along Manila Bay to watch the sunset. Dates were had here, kisses were made and friendships were solidified with every walk along it. Some days they would swim, most days they would just be there. There were no malls back then and maybe the air was much cooler and cleaner. I still think about these things whenever I would find myself there. And although it's very far from what it used to be, I'd like to think that a part of what it once was still remains; that if someone like me remembers how it was back then, it can go on being remembered like that. One thing that can never be taken away from this place is the beautiful sunset you'll see along its coast. Never mind the eroded tiles and the slight smell of trash, as long as you focus on the sunset you'll forget about all the other things. It's just that beautiful. read more
