Every time I am at the Jean Talon market, I see a line of people waiting for their order at Mangue & Melon. This time I decided to try it out. I got the Mango Tango smoothie and my husband got the Petit Jean smoothie. The way it works, you order on the right side window, you pay and then wait for your order to come out from the left window. I had mine and I had a taste of my husband's and I can say both were a bit on the tart note. Don't know what would case it, but they were not sweet delicious like I expected... Oh well !!! Anchored in the communities of the Jean-Talon and Atwater markets, the Mangue et melon juice bars have been preparing tasty juices for 15 years. We got the smoothies, but they also have fresh juices... They are unpasteurized, without added water or sugar (except for their lemonade). Mangue & Melon is a nice treat to have while walking around the market. Using my translate app (you take photos of something with words on it and it translates to English), I was able to read the all-French menu. The employees knew I was English speaking, though I said the menu item name "Cassa Nova." They spoke fluent English and were very kind and patient with us. The smoothie was so fresh and healthy tasting, not too much sugar but not bitter, either. It was perfect. I'm glad we stopped at Mangue & Melon and supported this wonderful small business. Located in the open market of Marche Jean Talon, Mangue et Melon is a total hot spot for fresh fruit juices and smoothies. It's the first spot that caught my attention and the first place I spent money on soon after I settled into the Airbnb. It was Saturday afternoon when we arrived and the market was bustling, not to mention, the long line that formed for the stand. Menus are in French, but if you need a suggestion or translation, the staff is happy to help you make a decision. First day in, I got the Tropical (banana, ananas, peche, mangue, orange), while my friend had the La Poune (mangue, framboise, orange). However, they were out of raspberries that day, so they substituted with strawberries instead for La Poune. They use a combination of fruit juices and real fruits, so there's actual pulp. Great way to get your fibers! This spot was so good that we returned the next morning for breakfast. Kickstarted my day with a Boreal, a green smoothie consisting of mango, peach, orange, soy milk and kale. More fruit forward than greens, but it was great to have along with my crepe right across the way. My friend got the P'tit Jean with banana, blueberry, wheatgrass and vanilla soy milk. Seriously, both juices tasted great and we contemplated picking up a bottle of juice at the end of the day. Great price for the amount, but unfortunately the selection varies by end of day and they didn't have that we were interested to take back to the Airbnb. What a great juice bar located in the Marche Jean-Talon! My wife and I decided to split a juice after watching them cute up a ton of fruit from the local market. We ended up buying a large Explosion de Fruits which was enough for the both of us. The juice tasted great and it was nice to know that they didn't use any artificial sweeteners. The staff here was also very polite and tolerated our terrible French. If you are visiting the market then you need to stop in at this juice bar. read more

Located in the Jean Talon market, Mangue et Melon is a temptation I found hard to resist on my multiple visits. I'm not a huge juice person (it tastes great but eating whole fruit is better for you), but after accidentally setting my mouth of fire with some hot sauce, I was desperate for something cool. Fresh fruits are ground and squeezed to order for juice cocktails. The combinations are both traditional (apple/orange/carrot) and imaginative (apple/lychee/peach); I tried a few was never disappointed. Always fresh and the combinations were pretty well balanced between the sweet, tart, and bitter. The staff is friendly and they crank out cups of juice very quickly. It's not something I would do every day (not a healthy habit and the novelty of it wears thin quickly), but a nice treat as you walk around the market or enjoy a pastry. read more

Since I couldn't bring my juicer with me whilst on vacation, I had to find a place like this. Tried Le Docteur and Le Vege-total. Le Docteur is hands down my favorite. The smoothies were a little on the sweet side. -1 star as their juices have this weird foam on the top and of course, it's not organic! read more

Market fresh fruits and veggies are served up smoothie style. My only hang up is I wish they had more veggie based drinks since these types are my fave. Le Grand Vert is my usual green drink go to however it is more apple juice than anything. read more
