Longgrain ceased to exist in 2022. It was handed over to new owner with new name…read more New place: same indoor and outdoor setting. Tum yum: ok. Som tom: too much sugar. Duck salad: delicious!

We were invited to dinner here by a friend who loves this place. It's a fairly small restaurant…read morewith some outdoor seating during warmer months. It's divided into two rooms with a small hallway in the middle. The furniture here is nice and quite comfortable. The decor is simple but elegant. Good ambience with friendly service. It did get quite warm inside after it filled up but overall a lovely atmosphere. The menu here is quite extensive however, the choice of vegetarian is limited, all up about three or four dishes, I think. Many classic Thai dishes were on offer and as we were a group of six it was possible to try quite a few dishes off the menu ;-) we ordered the prawn wrapped in beetle leaf, veg spring rolls, banana flower salad, bean salad and prawn and seafood cake for starters. They were all ok but nothing blew me away on the starters. The banana flower salad had a good kick to it but the sauce was missing a bit of the sweet element common to this salad. My main course of fish with a salad of raw mango, lemongrass and good and it was spicy, as I asked for it spicy ;-) just note that spicy here is just that, spicy I really enjoyed this dish. I also tried four of the other main dishes and they were also quite ok. I had the date cake with ice cream for dessert and it was quite ok. The wine list is very small but well priced and decent. I have not had a lot of Thai food in Munich but, the ones I have had is generally below par. In comparison this place is a cut above. The ingredients are fresh and prices are also quite reasonable. The hosts are very friendly and service is quite ok. They did miss a few things as the place was full but on average, good service. Might want to reconsider the two plate main (rice comes on a separate plate) serving style, as it takes up too much room on the table. I would happily come here again. Good Thai places are hard to find in this town and this one delivers good quality and tasty Thai cuisine. With some modifications to the flavours this place would be perfect for me :-) It's good Thai served in a cosy ambience.

Upon arriving to this restaurant, there were multiple tables available that had "RESERVED" signs on…read morethem. The waitress told us it would be a thirty minute wait even though there were open seats. A few minutes later, she seated us in a reserved seat but told us we only had 30 minutes to eat. Luckily we were in a rush to begin with, however I didn't like feeling rushed to eat my meal since we didn't have reservations. Besides that, the food was tasty and totally hit the spot on the cold night. I really enjoyed how spicy the curry was. However if I was more hungry, I don't feel like the meal would have filled me up. I think making reservations to sit at a restaurant like this is ridiculous and have never seen something like that in the hundreds of restaurants I've visited.

Service - 5 Value - 2…read moreFood - 1 I was fortunate to grow up close to "Little Saigon" in Southern California and have eaten great Vietnamese food for years. Dude was I disappointed by the food here. I ordered the Pho. It is a flavorful beef broth soup always served with a big dense ball of rice noodles and a side of fresh basil, bean sprouts, sliced chilies, and lime wedges. This was none of that. The broth had a strong beef flavor but was completely lacking in any other taste. No detectable spices whatsoever. There was very small quantity of noodles - the wrong kind of noodles at that. I had to pay for an extra order of noodles just to get enough for it to fill up the soup. And finally, a complete lack of condiments. The worst part was, the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. After explaining to her that I wanted the sides she came back with a small lime wedge and some bean sprouts but did not have the basil. wtf? Maybe this place has gotten great reviews because there aren't any authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Munich so nobody knows any better. But I do. At least the service was good. The waitress was attentive and helpful. I will give her credit for that.
