First the 'bad' news; this is in a manky part of Sheffield, but I've never had any problems round the Mangla. Now the Excellent news: the food is fantastic, the staff are really friendly and it's a bring-your-own bottle place (there're a couple of off-licenses across the road) so the bill is much less than what you'd expect. Honestly, you can pay three to four times the bill elsewhere in town for food that's not as good. I can recommend the veggie vindaloo, tarka dhall, Bombay aloo, channa massala etc. etc. Plus, they serve complimentary poppadoms and pickles and table water: who else does that these days? Recent example: dinner at the Mangla for 13: bill £99. They don't accept cards so check down the back of your sofa for loose change and GO! read more

I fancied a balti and also I didn't want to be disappointed, so I thought of trying out Mangla on Spital Hill. I rang my order up for collection. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Balti which is one of my favorite indian dishes (if it's done right). It was the most expensive indian dish that I have ever bought with 1 naan bread it cost £9.60, they also gave me a small starter which was a bag of salad and a sauce quite nice as well I had it after my balti. The Balti had plenty of meat in and had a rich thick spicey sauce, it was the hottest balti's that I have tried among restaurants and take-aways, I thought it was perfect at first but began to struggle towards the end because of the spices. I very much enjoyed the balti but the price is too steep unfortunatly, I may go back to Mangla and try a cheaper dish to see what it's like. Mangla Restaurant - Indian Near Me - Sheffield, XSY

I love this place. As another reviewer has mentioned, Spital Hill isn't exactly the nicest area of Sheffield but Mangla makes it worthwhile visiting. They aren't licensed to serve alcohol but the pub across the road offers beer and lager in jugs to take into the Mangla where they provide glasses. It's a neat way around the problem. The food is fresh and delicious (try the garlic and coriander naan bread!) and despite being rushed off their feet, the staff are always attentive and quick to respond to requests. read more

This is a great place to visit for a tasty, well cooked, cheap meal. It isn't the greatest location in the world in terms of parking, but it's well worth the visit. The food is always fresh tasting and everything i've tried has been delicious. Get yourself down and try the place! read more

Where to start? Honestly, this was probably one of, if not the, best curry I've ever had the pleasure to eat! The restaurant was pleasantly furnished and felt very upmarket for the area it is situated in, although recent local developments (a large TESCO Extra) have improved the area drastically. To start with, the restaurant is BYOB, so a quick trip to a local off-license was required (30 seconds further up the road) where a 700ml bottle of Corona was just £3. This helps keep the cost of the meal down. When we entered the restaurant, we were quickly shown to a table and complimentary poppadoms and pickles were brought to the table within 60 seconds of sitting! When we had decided what to eat, we ordered and the few questions about certain speciality dishes were answered quickly. We each ordered a curry, rice and naan bread, which gave us enough food to feed at least 5 people! The speciality curries we ordered (Lamb Burchi & Ginger Chicken) were both divine and the Korma was one of the best I've had. The Naan breads were huge and superbly flavoursome, and the rice was great too. I would also highly recommend trying a Mango Lassi, which was excellent value at £1.70 for 0.5l, and was delicious. After finishing just over half of this stuff-out meal, we asked for containers to package up the remaining food, and were given the bill. This banquet of gut-busting, mouth-watering, flavoursome food, came to a measly £30, adding on the £10 for the booze, this brings the cost of a Michelin star worthy meal to under £40, begging the question; why aren't you already on your way there? read more

This is a great place for a fantastic curry. As soon as you walk in you know that you have come to a genuine curry house. the atmosphere is great and the food is even better. The curry house stays open till the early hours of the morning so it is a great place to visit after a night out on the town. It is also very well priced. read more

Excellent authentic curry house located near to Spittal Hill. Had a face lift a year or so ago, which has improved it immensley as it looked like a cheap cafe before. Food is excellent and it is really good value. read more

Holes in the walls next to our table and what looked like food splattered up the same wall .It is byob which is good but they don't have ice .staff could do with some training in customer service.
