Just came here for an event last weekend and cars were parking three-deep, completely blocking in cars in the middle. Imagine one of those folks needing to leave, only to find they're boxed in by half a dozen vehicles. Parking in the grass, parking on planted tree-filled areas, parking in handicap spaces with no pass. The unfortunate truth is that the Fairgrounds was built for a smaller population in Kitsap. My wife and I visited the USS Turner Joy this past Saturday about an hour and a half before closing…read morethinking we'd have time to explore the ship. Boy, was that wrong. That time went by in what felt like 5 minutes. The self guided tour is extensive and there's a lot to see. It was wonderful being free to explore and sit in the officer's mess and just look around and imagine the history that was discussed there and walking through the engine room imagining listening to the whir of the machinery while the ship was underway and looking at where these brave sailors slept and imagining what their day was like. I got to speak to a docent that was a gunner and he shared his knowledge and some great stories. It was truly an honor to meet him! We plan on returning, earlier next time, to properly explore this wonderful ship and piece of history. Very highly recommended!

The manager with short hair was incredibly rude and unprofessional from the moment we walked in. She was snippy with customers, showed zero friendliness, and acted like she didn't want to be there. She loudly complained to her staff about needing to leave early and made the whole environment uncomfortable. When we were standing in line--well out of the way--she abruptly told us to "get out of the way" so she could move the golf cart, even though we were already several feet back. Inside the shop, she threw items onto the counter when we asked to look at them, and when we decided to purchase something, she snatched it out of our hand. The ship itself is great and the tour was wonderful, but the gift shop manager is seriously hurting the experience. She needs retraining--or replacement--because her attitude is unacceptable for a public-facing role.

What's unique about this small little park is that it's a Community P-Patch Garden and Demonstration Garden. From my research I've found that it started in 2009 and has grown significantly over the last four years. The garden program is a partnership between WSU Extension Master Gardener Program and the City of Bremerton Parks & Recreation Department. The Land was known as White's Blueberry Farm, a commercial enterprise that harvested blueberry plants. I've heard that a small number of the original blueberry plants remain and can be found in the NW corner of today's Blueberry Park. This place seems like a great place for new gardeners just starting out, or for seasoned gardeners looking to share their knowledge with others. They even donate most of the produce to the Bremerton Food Line. It's worth a stop just to relax a bit and check out gardens that other folks have been working on.

It turned out to be a karaoke night. The bar was WAY less diverse than it was the first time we went. The mic was extremely loud for how small the building is, which could be fun if you pregame or get your drinks down fast lol. A different bartender served us this time. I couldn't tell if she was intoxicated or just super all over the place. We ordered the same drinks we got last time, but they were made completely different and did not taste good. Overall, probably won't try this place again at least for a while. But I would recommend trying it at least once if you're pretty local & like Barcades. Drinks are decently priced. Did not try food. Pinball machines were about 25¢ each (amazing)
