    Tea time

Such a special and beautiful tea time in London. Perfect central location. Service was phenomenal and very kind. Food of course was unique and memorable.

My bf and I greeted the New Year in London. We stayed in the Kensington Suite, we had a street view with balcony facing Knightsbridge. The hotel is really beautiful and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is a great place for dinner.

Amazing afternoon tea experience. This review is a bit late, but visited on a trip to London a few years ago. The tea service was perfect and definitely worth the price. Will come again!

The afternoon tea here is fabulous! The setting is lovely and peaceful and very cosy. The food is delicious as are the various teas and coffees are divine. The matcha tea is one to try here, I've never had such a rich taste. We went here for afternoon tea whilst they had the Christmas menu. This was nice as there were lots of novelty cakes but a lot of the "vegetarian" cakes contained fish. The staff were all extremely helpful though and ensured they knew of our requirements and made suggestions accordingly. I have to say, I've not seen such great service anywhere in the uk that serves afternoon tea. Would I recommend this place? Pricey afternoon. Tea circa £65 and extra for certain speciality coffees and champagne but comparing this to somewhere in the suburbs, given the location (opposite Harrods) it is worth it for a special occasion such as life itself!

    Beautifully done chocolate cake.

If you have the opportunity this is a must for your stay in London. The service is top notch and unpretentious, the hotel is comfortable and well appointed and the location is perfect. Located steps away from the tube and right on Hyde Park. After a heavenly sleep, grab a complimentary coffee and take a morning stroll in Hyde Park. Sign up to be a Fan of MO and you can select from a list of complimentary items including breakfast which is not to be missed. Yes, it is expensive - but every now and then you should reward yourself. We stayed here for my bday and booked a Hyde Park room. The hotel threw in a bottle of Moët and a crazy delicious chocolate mousse cake. They also have a house car that will take you anywhere you want to go within a 2 mile radius. We took the car (a Mercedes EQS) to Mayfair Chippy for outstanding fish and chips. Don't hesitate to stay here on your next trip to London.

Tea sandwiches before the sweets were served. The penny sandwiches are made with the Queens favorite jam.

We enjoyed afternoon tea at the MO so much that we went twice while on vacation in London! The second time we brought our husbands and they loved it too. It is pricier than other teas in London but the experience was worth it!

We stayed here four nights for our vacations in London. I mean, you basically can't go wrong with Mandarin Oriental anywhere in the world. When we made the reservation, we asked if they can make dinner reservation for us at Dinner at Heston Blumenthal, which is one of the hotel's restaurants. The concierge had no problem accommodating. On top of that, when we walked into the room, there's a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us, along with welcome messages and sweet treats. The hotel's location couldn't be more perfect. Entrance to the tube is right outside, Hyde Park is within walking distance, and all the shopping stores are all around you. Highly recommend if you want to splurge a little.

    Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

If you're not exactly traveling on a budget, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. The Knightsbridge location is perfect for hitting up Harvey Nicks or Harrods and the tube is just steps away. The rooms are large (for London) and very well appointed. The real treat here is how accommodating and friendly the staff are. They will bend over backwards to get you anything you want, any time, night or day. When I vacation, I VACATION. I don't want to have to deal with any hotel hassles. The Mandarin makes things go right -- and I'm willing to pay a bit of a premium for that sort of customer-first attitude.

Simply the best afternoon tea, traditional English selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes - all with an oriental twist - washed down with Ruinart champagne. Staff are very knowledgeable about the teas on offer and advise you on the best choice from the very long menu. Even the crockery is bespoke, every single detail has been thought through, a real treat. Late afternoon the lights are dimmed and discreet jazz musicians appear. I could happily have stayed all night ...

This isn't the Bloody Mary haunting the Tower, this was the sheets that was in my room when I first checked in.

Sadly I had to down grade their stars because I found out that the free spa treatment that they were going to give me because of the soiled sheets that were placed in my room was not free. They charged my credit card, and then later said that they would take it off, but after looking at my CC statement later, it was never done. I contacted the hotel and they pretended that they didn't know anything about it, even though I had the manager email me about the complimentary spa. Very disappointing and very deceiving. I'll post the pictures of the bloodied sheets that I was welcomed with when I first checked in.

Leave room for scones! The served this after the sandwiches and cakes were done!

We tried to get in at the Ritz for afternoon tea and "settled" on the Mandarin Oriental - but it turned out we did not have to settle at all! The service was impeccable - the tea service was fantastic - excellent tea selections with a Tea Master on site to make us a special tea upon request. The price was reasonable relative to formal tea service. They offer you additional sandwiches and cakes if their initial service is not sufficient (but it is quite healthy portions!). The China was gorgeous and the setting was classic tea room with a beautiful tree branch to hold the tea sandwiches for service. It was such a fantastic experience. I didn't miss out on going to the Ritz - we had the option to get into the Ritz later in our trip and opted out as we were more than satisfied with our experience with the Mandarin Oriental.

We were greeted and assisted by an employee who observed us bringing multiple baggages up the entryway stairs. He wished us a Happy Anniversary, informed us that we were being upgraded to a suite on the fifth floor (room 503 yay yay!), shared the many amenities of the hotel, and handed us our keycards. Prior to our arrival in Kensington, we had been staying in smaller boutique hotels during our visits in Amsterdam and Paris. Therefore, the abundance of space in our suite almost made us feel like we were at home. Entering the room, we were greeted by a couch (with a TV mounted nearby) positioned in front of a sliding glass door that lead to a patio with two chairs and a table (not to mention a decent of the city). The kitchen area was complete with a microwave, utensils, plates, bowls, tea cups, coffee mugs, drinking glasses, and champagne flutes. On the counter was an expresso machine, expresso pods, a nifty device for boiling water, and a tasty assortment of chocolates with a message saying "Happy Anniversary!" Below the counter was not one, but two refrigerators (perfect for folks like us who like to purchase small grocery items - including champagne). The bedroom was a decent size with a mounted television (with the ability to access streaming services via Chromecast), snazzy Bluetooth speaker (I made good use of it!), a desk, and bed. I believe in saving the best for last...in my opinion...that would be the bathroom. The bathroom was complete with heated floors (unfortunately we did not get a chance to use them), a HUGE two person (depending on the size of said persons) sitting tub, and an open shower area with a shower head slightly extended from the ceiling (not ideal for folks that do not want to get their hair wet). Also, I forgot to mention that both the shower and hot tub have extensions. Since we were only at the hotel for three days and two nights, we did not have the time to utilize their many amenities. However, we were able to visit Apero, the bar located in the basement. We both ordered drinks from the cocktails menu, which we would later regret. Although flavorful, both drinks were loaded with so much ice that there was obviously little room for the drink itself. For both breakfast and dinner we enjoyed the convenience of room service. For breakfast we ordered the eggs, bacon, and wheat bread...which met our satisfaction's. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Ceasar salad with a side of fries with truffle mayonnaise...delicious! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ampersand Hotel. If you're looking for a hotel in which you can truly relax and enjoy the comfort and serenity of your room, I highly recommend staying here!

Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 booked this specifically for the kids while we were in…read moreLondon, and it ended up being one of the more unique and memorable experiences of the trip. We were looking for something fun and different from a traditional afternoon tea, and this definitely leaned more interactive than expected. Arrival and First Impressions Reservations are important, and when we arrived the space was already filled with families. The setting feels polished but still very welcoming for kids, which is not always the case with afternoon tea in London. Service was excellent from the start, organized without feeling too formal, and the overall atmosphere had a fun, lively energy. The Highlights The experience is built around science themed trays filled with a mix of sweet and savory items. The kids immediately locked into the interactive elements, especially the build your own strawberry lemonade with different colored syrups, which turned into more of a mini experiment than just a drink. They also had cake pops, scones, and small PB and J sandwiches, all very approachable and fun. One of the better touches was a small take home item, a dinosaur themed tin, which the kids treated like a prize from the experience. It added to the overall feeling that this was designed with kids in mind. The adult trays had a similar variety with finger sandwiches, pastries, custards, and scones. Everything was solid and there was plenty to try. Being able to request more of anything you liked helped balance things out a bit and made it feel less restrictive for the price. The Challenges The biggest drawback is the cost. For a family of four it came out to around 350 USD, which is a significant spend for what is essentially afternoon tea. It leans more toward a themed experience than a traditional tea service, so if you are expecting something quiet and refined, this may not be the right fit. Final Thoughts This is one of those experiences that works really well if you go in with the right expectations. It is interactive, a little chaotic in a good way, and clearly designed for families more than traditional tea purists. We would not rush back and I removed a star due to the price, but we are glad we did it once because the kids genuinely loved it and still talk about it. If you are looking for something unique and are comfortable with the cost, it is worth it for the experience, though the value depends on how much you lean into the interactive side.

My two girlfriends and I rented a triple room and it was roomy enough for us, all of our luggage and towers of shopping bags. We were only given one key, and you have to be buzzed in for safety reasons after 10 or 11 pm, but that was fine for us. The staff was so accommodating. The bathroom had a towel warmer which came in handy- it is freezing in London right now. We had the perfect view of The Buttery's garden from our huge window. There is an adorable market just steps away- for provisions after hours. In the states we are used to hotel rooms having in room refrigerators- but the market made it easy to get cold drinks every night. 10/10

Ssshhhh! I honestly don't want to tell anyone about the Lime Tree Hotel - it's only 26 rooms and…read moreprobably the best kept secret in this very posh area of London!! But for you, Yelp, I'll spill the reasons why you should stay here on your next visit to London... 1) The Location is awesome. You know the three rules of real-estate, right??? location, Location, LOCATION! Lime Tree (hence-forth, LT) is located in a very posh area of London. I saw McLarens and Rolls-Royces parked ON THE STREET where the hotel is located. Who parks a USD$200K+ car ON THE STREET?!? It is short walk to the Victoria Coach Station(s), Trains and Underground (Tube). There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and shops around. Our room overlooked the Peggy Porschen Bakery, which I kid you not, is Instagramed during all hours by "influencers". I only hope they get as much busy as they get featured in pics on the Internet! Also, down the street is Philip Treacy, Milner to Royalty! Again, LOCATION! 2) I would be remiss if I did not mention The Service at LT. There is an eight-hour shift rotation of lovely front desk people that check you in, collect your key when you leave (yes, there is a physical key to your room door and they ask that you leave it at the front desk everytime you leave). I am goingto butcher their name spellings (probably), but during our 8 night stay here, we came to know Simone, Martine, Maggy and Laura very well and all were charming, helpful and total professionals. My mother has stayed here several times before and was hoping to speak to the owner, Matt and Charlotte, but they were off on holiday, but I hear they are as hard-working and amiable as the Wondrous Women of the Front Desk (henceforth known as WWFD) 3) The Buttery - the SMALL breakfast/lunch restaurant in the LT (but you can't charge your meals to your room in the LT). The Word is out on on this place - there were just as many Locals eating here as there were guests at the hotel. RESERVATIONS are HIGHLY recommended (they are on OpenTable). I wrote a seperate review on The Buttery, so do a Yelp search and find that, but you honestly can't go wrong here. We ate 4 of the 8 days. TomTom across the street is also a one-location (at this time) gem and is packed after 9am. Early bird gets the good breakfast! Much love to the Lime Tree! I'll be back someday
