I got here around 11PM and there was a big crowd at the entrance. An employee asked for ID's and proof of a negative COVID test. It can be the actual paper result, an email, or a clear picture of it. They matched the names of the tests to our ID's. I had gotten my result the day before, but I am not sure how recent they want the results. The music was right up my alley. The music and overall environment feels like you're in las vegas and it's overall a good time. Taxi's are all over the place. Staff is so fun and we had a super great server and service! Be ready to tip the 20% amount from your tab, servers will ask for it, so just know it's coming. You can pay in US dollars, card, or pesos. I recommend coming around 11pm-12am for good music. After 12am, there's more English music than Latin music. Really fun nightclub, great attendants who help with everything. Greeted us, granted entry and provided a section with free drink once they learned we were celebrating a birthday. The drinks were very watered down, but the gesture was nice. If you're going here- but a bottle. Otherwise you'll hate your drinks. The club starts to get really live about 12 as folks poured in. If you're coming to to Playa del Carmen or Cancan you have to come visit Mandala. Personally it's one of the best night clubs in Mexico! Mándala night club in playa del Carmen and in Cancun are both a great time. Everyone is dancing , having fun , and truly enjoying themselves! Every time I came here the music was always on point! There's no doubt that if you came here you would leave with regrets ! The only thing I will say is that it's a bit pricey compared to the other night clubs. Tuesday night turn up! This place was crazy packed. The music was mostly techno/dance with some occasional hip hop in between. I'm not sure how the door system works but we walked in without being asked to pay a cover but others had to pay. We were walking pass after dinner and the bouncer encouraged us to come in. We sat in a section and ordered drinks and hookah. I think security should do a better job at monitoring who's had way to much to drink and needs to be put out. The ambience is an eclectic mix of Buddhist and Hindu with a dash of Vegas Nightclub thrown in for good measure. The crowd is mostly well-to-do Mexicans out for a bachelor/bachelorette party and single Canadians/Europeans/South Americans looking to hookup. Some nights are great there as they blast your favorite Top 100 songs re-mixed as your favorite house beat (No risk takers on the turntables here), but beware that if you don't order bottle service you may find your table which you've been sitting at the whole night with a "Reserved" placard slapped down on it right in front of your eyes as the waitstaff usher you away for apparently more important clientele. Most nights can get very crowded, but if you're willing to wade through the crowds of sweaty bodies for the chance to catch a form of gonorrhea with which modern medicine cannot treat, this place might just work for you. Otherwise, if you are female you will spend your night avoiding the wolves surrounding your table hoping for the chance to pounce, and if you're a husband/boyfriend/male friend out with the girls you will spend your night acting as a human "Great Wall of China" as you block the invading Mongols from trying to score with a group of women who would rather drown themselves in their hotel pool than spend one minute entertaining clueless buffoons with little to no chance of scoring. read more

The resort bar I was staying at in Playa Del Carmen closed at 12am. After a long day of throwing down a few cocktails with some friends, we decided to wander off the resort and found this spot! We loved it so much, we wound up going twice during our stay. The inside decor is fun, classy and attractive. Has a cover charge of only $11 USD. Drink prices were not too bad either for liquor. Drank here for two nights (mixed drinks- with their ice) and did not wake up feeling sick what so ever which is always a win in my book-especially if you are in Mexico. Has three floors and when we went, the club was complete packed. However, there was still plenty of places to dance because of the size of this place. They have couches and plenty of other places to sit which is great, especially when you are with a big group. Bartenders were quick to serve and are very nice. I like how they have photographers wandering around taking pictures that you can get developed in 15 mins for only $10 USD. Bathrooms were also very clean. The music was great. A lot of throwbacks and currently songs which was able to hit the different ages that everyone was. If I'm in the area again, I would absolutely have to make a stop here again. read more

BEWARE OF SCAMS!!!!! At first I was having a great time, the music was really good and the atmosphere very fun. My husband and I had ordered a couple drinks and were dancing and enjoying ourselves on a not very crowded weekday night. I decided to order one last shot to end the night and we asked for the check. The waiter tried to over charge me saying I ordered a more expensive shot than I did. This was ridiculous as I had even written the shot down for him and my husband saw too what I wrote down! We asked to speak to the manager(a difficult feat in a dance club!) and after explaining the situation he knocked it off the bill. The only reason this place is getting two instead of one stars is the manager for realizing the waiter was scamming us. I would be very careful when you go here. The waiters are obviously not trust worthy. Scam Artists! Be careful going here. They hustled us for $50 extra dollars for breaking a hooka that we did not break. They asked for $200 and we spent 30 minutes trying to tell them we didn't do it. And they would not let us leave until we paid, which is also false imprisonment. This place and management is AWFUL and unethical! This is after we spent money on bottle service and hooka (which we left fully intact when we left the table to leave) with a party of 11 woman at a bachelorette party. Horrible establishment that took advantage of women in a foreign country for something that we had no part of. I am horribly disappointed that they tried to ruin a night of my dear sister's bachelorette party. Went here with a friend. with all the people(sharks)outside vying for your business to get you in the door at any cost telling you what you want to hear. they use women to try and seduce the guys to come in and pay a hefty cover and buy over priced drinks and the place wasn't really busy at all. the club is amazing as in architecture and the music is on point. But the way they hound you on the street to patronize there club leaves one feeling dirty and annoyed. and the staff smother and hound you to buy drinks and the drinks are way way OVERPRICED AND WATERED DOWN. So i got a beer and a beer was 10.00 wtf i live in chicago we dont even pay that there and the worst part is they stare at you and when your last sip is done there on you before you can get it down and there is like a ton of servers all rushing to get you to buy a drink to get the tip. i seen the manager pointing out patrons without a drink to the servers and they rush to hound you to buy a drink. We just went tonight. We got there about 10:30 and it was dead. By 11:00, it was filling up fairly nicely. By midnight, it was crazy. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer. Sexy stage dancers were a nice plus. The DJ was awesome. The drinks tasted good, but a little weak for $9 each. We plan to go back again though before we leave. If someone tries to pull some $30/40 usd cover charge on you, ignore it and go to someone else who would bring you in for free. Ignore them more and they would be so desperate, desperate enough to offer a drink on the house if you're a lady. Electronic music mixed with the pandora today's hits radio really isn't a good mix. Mandala is also SMALL. The first floor is the size of a regular hotel room with some elevated sections. Second floor ain't much to rave about either. The crowd here is older than all the other nightlife spots in the area. And not a cute old either. I was charged a different price for my Heineken than stated on the menu by 35 pesos. We said no one told us and that we would only pay for the 2 drinks that were poured cuz that's totally a scam. We thought we had plenty of time. They told me that I should have know they close at 11:30. I'm not from playa del Carmen so no I didn't know they close at 11:30 or in my case 20 minutes. My friend and I had a fabulous time here. I loved the decor and the location but the The music wasn't my favourite because they throw in so much EDM but who knows...maybe that's your thing. :) the service staff were awesome- One waiter named Oliver really stood out- he was so attentive and professional- when we went to another club that he worked at, we requested to be seated in his section. If you go to Palazzio or Mandalas ask for him- he really gave us the VIP treatment! There are lots of clubs very close together in this area and with all the promoters trying to get you to come in, it can be hard to decide where to go. Everyone wants you in their club so don't be afraid to play it up a bit. We noticed mandalas fills up the earliest in the evening and then the other clubs fill up later so if you don't want to wait for the party to start- this is a good place to go. :) Have fun!! read more

This won't be my finest review because I was actually at Mandala over a year ago before Yelp had entered Mexico. Nevertheless, I shall review it now. My group of 10 or so, had arrived in Cancun just the day before, but on a Friday night, we were (mostly) raring to go out dancing in the clubbing district of Cancun near Coco Bongo and the cluster of all the other club-type establishments (they really stick close together). We'd wandered down the strip a bit bargaining for the best price for a table and bottle service, and apparently the promoter at Mandala made the best offer, and suddenly I was being ushered up to the rope, bracleted and directed to a table with vodka, tequila and mixers for our group. You have to pay a cover charge for everyone, guys and girls alike, unlike most clubs that welcome the ladies for free with open arms. Mandala is a pretty cool looking club. It's open-air, so you can see everything happening on the street as you're inside and it's tiered so people are dancing above or below you, depending on where you are. It was pretty crowded and I had to elbow myself some room more than once, but that happens with pretty much every club. I don't remember the music too well, but I believe that night was a mix of American Top 40, EDM and some house music. As long as there's a decent beat I can dance to (and possibly sing along with), I'm good to go. One of the most interesting parts of the whole night was watching the "club crawls" come through. For lack of a better term, club crawls are to Cancun clubs what bar crawls are to other cities. Some enterprising types in Cancun actually lead groups of people to different clubs throughout the evening to drink and dance before moving on to another club. So more than once, I witnessed someone with a sign above their head enter, then a bunch of tourists followed the sign to a specific part of the club, danced, drank, etc. then the sign exited followed by the gaggle of tourists again. Interesting to watch, annoying as they're trying to shove past you. All in all, I had a pretty good time, I was half-deaf and hoarse by the time we left, my feet were tired and I could say I'd gone clubbing in Cancun. If I went back, I think I'd want to try another club just to see the differences, but it was fun for a novel event. read more

Was just there on 9/9 but I've been here many times and usually have a great time. I'm not an "all you can drink" person and Mandala does have finer brands of alcohol if you choose not to go that route like me. This is a a bit more upscale of a club than say Congo across the street. Bar lines were non-existent which is awesome. Seems to have some air conditioning (YES! even though it's open air style) and lots of tables/service to go with it. Most times I've been, they play edm and maybe a little hip hop but definitely much less beach bar or a little bit of everything style of music which is different from the more casual bars across the street. They also provide great service as they are well staffed. Now, I would give more stars but had an experience that really left a lasting impression on me. STAY AWAY from the bartender with the ponytail!! I ordered a couple drinks which he FIRST charged me for (as I was paying with a card because of the poor exchange rate they offered) before getting my drinks. Then, he was visibly annoyed when I asked him what the amount was because it was dim and the print was very small. After signing and leaving a tip (still no drinks) he shook his head and rolled his eyes when he took my charge slip. WTF??? This is something that really changes my mind about returning. Entitlement has no place in tourism especially when there are toddlers outside your establishments at 3 a.m. selling gum and toys! Hopefully this person finds a another place to work before he turns off more paying tourists. read more

this was probably one of the best places to go in cancun in terms of NYC type of EDM clubs. They had a good mix of local and top 40EDM top 40 remixes. I recommend for those who may not want to deal with too many creeps. ALSO make sure that they dont trick you to pay cover.
