There were bouncy houses, science demonstrations, Police tents, construction equipment for the kids to play on. There was even an old junked car that you could pay $10 for a 1 minute pass to bash the car. I'm not one to engage in property crimes, but this was too good to pass up! The policeman giving out the tokens handed me a bat and I swung at the fender. Then he was like, "hit the window, bro". Ok, I guess I'll do it! It's been 11 years since I broke a window to get my keys out of a locked car. When the bat hit the window, the thing just completely shattered. It was so loud. Way louder than I remember that ever being! No review of a church would be complete without discussing the actual church. God loves you and want you to be happy. Their pumpkin patch has been a long-term annual tradition according to volunteers at the pumpkin patch. This year the pumpkin patch launched on September 28th. Pumpkin sales occur Mon-Fri 1 pm to dark and Sat & Sun 9 am to dark. The pumpkin patch converges pumpkin sales, family time and volunteer activities. The pumpkin patch has a picture wall for photos, where several family with young children were eagerly awaiting their photo opportunity. Like most pumpkin patches, they had different sizes, colors and textures of pumpkins to choose from. Their pumpkins were reasonably priced.

They keep it small and centered around children. The activities, games, stories, crafts, education are all top notch. I am blown away everyday when I pick her up and hear all about what they did, what they snacked on, the games they played, the stories, the paintings... I could go on and on. There is a meeting area that always has food and candies for people to snack on before and after services, it's a great place to mingle and get to know people. The "Growth Groups" we have at church are opportunities to meet with a smaller group and really get to know each other - they are so much fun to participate in. Our church preaches (literally ;) ) that ALL are welcome and that God loves all of us no matter what we may have done in the past. You can feel the love of Christ in all the people in the church, the pastors, the deacons, the members and all of the attendees. I would recommend this church to anyone, gay or straight. While we already have a church home, we enjoy visiting other churches in the community from time to…read moretime. We decided to attend The Stone to shake things up. The worship was incredible with worship leader, Jessie, leading the congregation. When service started, they started with a child dedication of families and their children on the stage before asking the church to come forward and extend their arms in prayer and song. Being 1) new to the church and 2) Socially anxious-- I found myself a little uncomfortable, but at the same time, I thought it was beautiful. Seeing parents cry in awe of their church joining in worship and prayer for your little one was a sight to see. The Austin Stone leans more towards reading Scripture verses and focusing on its meaning. Personally, I'm drawn to sermons that pair Scripture with practical, daily applications and personal stories, so I found myself guilty of struggling to pay attention and staying awake. The seating is comfortable, with extra cushiony chairs, however, seats are inline with each other, so it gets difficult/irritating to see if someone say 6'0 is sitting in front of someone who is 5'0.... NOTE: Since The Austin Stone is located down south in Menchaca, expect lots of young families (inc infants and toddlers) and adults under 45.
