I was very pleased with Laurie's thoroughness with exhausting every possible legal deduction I was entitled to claim as a new homeowner this past year (alas, in the end I could not qualify for the big federal homeowner tax credits, but before making that determination, she really explored all of the possible ways that it might work, but I just flat out did not qualify under the criteria). Nevertheless, she did find more legal deductions by asking astute questions, which I appreciated very much. The hard copy pre-tax planner that they sent in advance via USPS helps to keep preparation costs down as it reminds you of pertinent earnings details and also lists the documents you used the previous year so you can make sure you have every document you will need at the in person appointment. There is also a battery of questions to answer to help open up discussion points during the meeting. I am very happy with the team I worked with (Travis and Laurie) plus the results! Absolutely a 5 star professional service provider.

This is the primary service for which I hire a CPA. I found that they had not applied a basic deduction in 2024 (one that they had applied in 2023) until it was brought to their attention. Their rate increase from 2023 was not initially disclosed nor explained and when asked if it was tied to to their additional labor to correct their omission of a tax deduction, I was told they actually had not charged me for the extra labor. I was given the option where my filing would be withheld until the fee was paid or find another firm and start over. It was an unsatisfactory experience.

My PTET extension wasn't filed on time, despite multiple assurances that it would be. I expect my CPA to thoroughly review my return, maximize every legitimate deduction and credit, and legally minimize my tax liability. Instead, it felt like the focus was simply on getting the return done rather than taking the time to optimize it. If you're looking for an accountant who is proactive and thorough about finding tax-saving opportunities, this was not my experience. Honestly, I left feeling like I could have achieved a similar--or even better--result using AI and spending far less time and money.

I…read morebecame a customer of good ole Steve here because my old and trusted accountant retired and I guess sold her business clientele to him. My previous accountant being someone I trusted, I figured I was in good hands. I wasn't. Taxes are like my kryptonite and I didn't do the legwork and compare new accountants to him and he proceeded to charge me his "flat rate" or however he refers to it as for my S-Corp and I am a VERY small business and I paid his $425 rate and didn't think twice. The last year I used his "services", I noticed that after I turned my information over to his company, I was surprised how fast it was turned back over to me. And just as fast came his $425 fee. I finally caught on and used another accountant last year- and he had to learn about my business and do some legwork and charged me $150 for the EXACT SAME SERVICE. This new accountant is every bit as capable as SW&A. So basically SW&A will make sure you don't spend too much on taxes but will let you overspend plenty on him. By the way- I am SURE if my company's taxes were overly complicated and he actually had to put in the extra work, that he would have honored his "flat rate". I cannot state this firmly enough (my opinion here)- if you are in his clutches or are about to be, make 100% sure that you know exactly what you are paying for and compare it to other firms for the same service- Steve ain't better than almost any of them and you won't wind up spending an extra $1000 or so like I did. On a final note, Steve and I were going back and forth and he threatened to turn me over to an attorney- one of his favorite words- if I didn't pay by the 30th (tomorrow). The link he gave me wasn't working so I asked him to send me another one. He said basically F-you, send it fedex or I will see you in court. It has been quite a while since I have dealt with a sleazy creature such as this.
