"Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing…read moresomething. Because that's not true . . . Having a disability doesn't stop me from doing anything." ― Benjamin Snow, Grade 8, in his essay "Attitudes About People with Disabilities" Serving others for nearly 30 years! Living Independence Network Company A.K.A. LINC is a local service agency that cares for people with disabilities, all levels, focusing on ability within their disability and helping them to be as independent as possible. My mother-in-law gets services through this agency and I help her with many of them. Linc is very helpful for families by learning available resources and support. This is the first review of the Caldwell, Idaho office. This is my 435th review. There are many different services that Linc provides and in three cities: Boise, Calwell, and Twin Falls. Some of the services they provide are: Advocacy: Call them if you're experiencing a problem in relation to how you live with your disability. Whether it's a landlord, employer, local business, and the such, Linc will help you by speaking on behalf of you, writing a letter for you, or acting for you. This is a very important part of social work and for people living with disabilities. Independence Living Services: The will help locate housing for you, train you to live independently: budgeting, renting an apartment, working with Health and Welfare and much more! Personal Care Services: They will help you hire, train, and pay employees to help you through the Medicaid program. Help can be cooking, cleaning, hygiene and other quality of life tasks. Transportation: They hell you apply for assistance with transportation such as medical taxi (Medicaid/Medicare pays), and discounted transportation such as taxi and bus passes. Medical equipment loans: That's right... if you need a wheelchair, power chair, crutches, CPAP machine, you can call Linc and they will help you with that. You can borrow these items for as long as you need. They also take donations of these items and many more if you ever hear about them or have some to discard. Lastly, The ramp and rail loan program. According to their website This program provides: Temporary loans of modular, portable, aluminum accessibility ramps for residences averaging 30-90 days. Only requires a fully-refundable deposit of $250 or $450, depending on size and configuration Ensures people with accessibility or mobility issues to maintain their independence and freedom. Even if you're having a family member come to visit that requires a ramp, you can borrow a rail free of charge, just put down the security deposit. Linc has been in the Treasure Valley for nearly 30 years. They have a vast amount of resources available and a database of other resources for yourself and your family. It's important to know what services are available out in the community. You never know who is going to need this knowledge. This review is going into a new "Community Resource" Yelp list which may help our community grow and overall help individuals help themselves move up Maslow's hierarchy toward self-actualization. As for my review-- I am going to post this same review on all three cities because it brings awareness and again, may help someone. The staff has always been friendly. I've dealt with the community nurse several times, they come to the participants home, and are always filled with both compassion and empathy. My brother in law is unable to walk long distances and his mobility scooter took a dump. He was unable to get a new mobility scooter due to lack of funding-- Linc provided him with a "loaner" which he can use for as long as he needs, and he once again has the independence and quality of life that we all deserve, thanks to Linc. I was cursed out in Spanish by Angie …read more First of all Cadwell location has amazing staff except for Angie . Everyone there is happy and kindly ready to help . Please continue to go here and if you speak Spanish please report this issue bellow . Many calls are needed for a change . It needs to be known that this happend and we need answers to see what will be done about this . My daughter wanted a toy behind the counter and I asked Tracy ( the person at the register that I was checking-out with . If my daughter could get a toy and if she could give it to her . Angie got maniac crazy screaming at me in Spanish and wouldn't stop. I told Angie she was on the clock to stop and she was in the background screaming at me and cursing at me in Spanish calling me names .she said she didn't care . Debbie the manager in duty did nothing when she came back to help me return the things I bought. Angie continued to curse at me in Spanish . Angie was not stopped .Debbie didn't do anything and continue to do my return. Debbie eventually said " Angie stop " with a laughter and didn't stop Angie , as she continue to curse at me in Spanish . I asked Debbie for the corporate number and she said she didn't know it , Angie continue to scream at me then said I could google it if I wanted to . this is not store policy . It was humiliating . Mental health is important , there is no sane reason to curse at anyone while purchasing items . I hope Goodwill addresses this issue to where Angie no longer gets to curse at anyone in any languages she knows . Spanish speakers should be welcome and not by cursing at us . If our money isn't worth anything to your company please let us know .
