Once the Drs diagnosed his medical problem and had him feeling better he was transferred to Hale Makua for rehab physio as he was a fall risk. He has been working very hard at physio daily and is walking and standing well now. I visited him in HM and he was in a double room, with a garden outlook, with access to a shared covered lanai area with dining tables and chairs. HM is airy with open corridors and shared spaces with gardens to sit in and staff present everywhere helping everyone. When I arrived I didn't know where my friend was and a staff member asked me if I needed assistance and walked me to his room chatting pleasantly as we walked. She knew exactly who he was and which room he was in. Kudos to the staff! I'm going in next week and will sit with him at the tables in the lanai area with ice cream. Hale Makua is a fantastic nursing facility for the elderly who cannot look after themselves, with a family feel, open and inviting. I was very impressed.

This skilled nursing facility which was the original main hospital in Wailuku has been in business since 1966. But yelpers must not have the need for this type of place. I brought my mother over here who will turn 100 years old in January. She was admitted last week. I must say it was a hard decision to take her there from a retirement home which which was basically an apartment with a dining room and then from our own home. It was the time of life that she needed much more care. I must say that the building is a little dated but overall it is well-maintained. The most important thing is that the staff is exemplary. I was so impressed by the caring and attention they give all of the residence. There is a big game room with television, videos, puzzles games and always a CNA on duty to help all of their clients. There is a beautiful sunroom also used for dining and then the big dining room. The grounds are beautiful. But again it's the people that are so impressive. I was told that there are 10 patients per CNA but it sure does not feel that way. I would highly suggest anyone looking for someplace for their loved one that needs 24 hour care to consider this, I won't call it a facility because it's at home where they want the residence and the families and friends of the residents to all feel like family. They have accomplished that 100%. God bless the staff at Hale Mākua Wailuku

Mahalo aunty Cheryl for all the help with the admissions process and with pointing me in the right direction with my insurance and paperwork for admissions. Mahalos to the kitchen staff for keeping us well fed with ono food . Big mahalo to my councilor and other staff for helping me during and even after I finished my program . They lined up my after care program with Kaiser and help me re-enter the community on the right foot. There are So many others to thank like the community members who come up and have special meetings and gatherings and even the loving security guards who feel like brother and sister. Just made 3 years sober and I continually see people like me who finished the program at aloha house and are successful in their recovery and getting back to life without addictions. Getting sober sucks , but it's easier to do with the Ohana at Aloha House . they give you the tools and the support to get out of your addictions and back to life . I tell people all the time , ALOHA HOUSE SAVED MY LIFE !!! Mahalo Piha

No one really wants to be here, but sometimes it can't be helped. The facilities are clean, can't really review the nursing staff as I haven't frequented this place enough to do so. There seems to be a bunch of activities to keep the residents busy and entertained. It can also be a very depressing place to even visit, seeing how some people end up. Not sure who the architect of this place was, but I want to slap them and congratulate them at the same time. It's laid out in an "X" shape with nice outdoor courtyards and foliage, but because of poor signage and monotonous colors, you can get totally lost when wandering the halls.

There were no nurse assistant helping. I felt so bad for the helpless patients. One more thing, I saw a stroke patient was defecating no one assisting him, the room was smell bad. It really need an improvement for a really good service, safe and secure home for these helpless patient. I think some staffs here are not doing a great job. They should treat the patients with emotional support instead of saying too negative to the patient. This is so depressing.. Also, I Don't know why the doctor ordered anti seizure medicine to a stroke patient. That medicine is horrible. Everytime the patient take that, it made him worse like restless, hallucinating, acting crazy. This medicine is so bad side effects. NOT GOOD AT ALL!! So when the patient stopped taking it, he was so calm and so with normal life! Thank God!!

We ended PT at 1 because she seemed to be walking okay and developing fine. At her 2yr old doctor apt, her dr was concerned about her walking again so we started PT again. This was our first time at their clinic location. I am speechless. We had already LOVED Amy Peterson when she was our home visit PT, but being able to see her work with Zha Zha at the clinic was AMAZING. They are soooo good with kids and the place is exceptionally clean, sanitized and organized. Every single piece of equipment is wiped down after every child uses it. This is very important to someone like me who still has anxiety about Covid and having a young child. I was put to ease when I saw the procedures and how serious they take cleanliness. The location is pretty hard to find but it's in the same parking lot as Brigit&Bernard cafe and there is ample parking. I highly highly recommend this therapist office. Bonus: they are even helping the less fortunate by collection food and slippers at the front door.
