So we thought that this place is going to be amazing with it being around for over 117 years! We had bruschetta, vegetable soup, taglia de manzo, spagetti with muschroom, house wine, 1 lt water, 1 lt wine (60 euros). The bruschetta was 2 out of 5 and they didn't even use the cherry tomato. So it tasted bland with just a lot of olive oil. My taglia de manzo was good, but I asked for tomato on it. That was a mistake sine they used the same type of tomato. It seemed like the pasta that the wife had was home made, so that was good. The house wine was good, but does not warrant for a 60 euro bill. So it was just an OK experience.

It was Friday night and late so I expected it to be full at 8:45 when we arrived. It was actually empty I thought maybe this is a bad sign. Wrong !!! The room is jus classy and beautiful with brick arcaded roof. The ambiance is a that of a night high class restaurant. They have an ex excellent wine list that covers most of Italy'. I asked our waitress to point us to a local white. She recommended an excellent local vermentino which we very much enjoyed. The menu has some great seafood dishes and well as pastas meats etc. I opted for the risotto pescatore. This dish was a amazing, bursting with fresh seafood and flavor. The risotto was perfectly cooked and it was loaded with fresh mussels, clams and langostinos. Excellent and so well priced. This same dish in my hometown miami would easily be double the price at an equivalent restaurant. The wife had a pasta carbonara which was a truly excellent version of this dish. They were both plentiful so did not try the desserts. The service was excellent as was the ambiance. This place deserves to be jam packed every night.

Homemade pasta with porcini mushrooms was very flavorful and "al dente." Panna cotta was the best I have ever had, not too sweet and very light. Surprisingly, our bill was less than €40. Very reasonable price for an amazing lunch in the heart of Pitigliano.

We came across this restaurant by chance-- we needed to eat, it was close by, and it looked clean…read moreand inviting. The restaurant address maps accurately with Google maps; it is across from the "Calcata" sign at the main road entrance to the town. Although they have entrees with rabbit and wild boar we chose two vegetarian "primi piatti" options: A crepe made with chickpea flour, milk and egg, filled with cheese and arugula pesto and topped with diced tomatoes; and a mini-lasagna with ricotta cheese, egg and asparagus baked in a flat chickpea pasta crust. Both were outstanding, and different from anything else we had on our trip. Although not huge in quantity, they were exceptional in their quality, and at a reasonable price (9 euros each). The proprietors had just opened a few months before and it was clear they took great pride in their restaurant and the food they served. Although we did not ask specifically, it is possible many items on their menu were gluten-free. If that is a concern for you and you plan to visit Calcata, it would be worth inquiring through their e-mail address: larmeriaristogallerysrl@pec.it

On first glance it doesn't look like much,…read morebut after a bit of conversation with the owner and cook, they pulled out all the stops and made us a delicious, fresh, 3 course Italian meal in about 20 minutes. Not too much English spoken here but we mixed in a bit of Spanish and Italian and had a great time. Chatted with some of the locals, who got up from the only table in order to provide us with a gorgeous setup with Peroni beers and some refreshing peach iced tea. We got arancini on the house and some little focaccia sandwiches with ham and a beautiful fresh pappardelle pasta with ragu. 5 star service all the way. Definitely worth the trip off the beaten path in Umbria.

Tour guide Roberto Contursi brought us here both times and the food has been consistently excellent! The gnocchi was the best I've ever had as was the dessert. We were a family of 5 and no one ordered anything that wasn't fantastic. It's worth the trip to Orvieto and the dying city. The restaurant moved from its original location so a slightly extra drive. Stick to the house wine--the white was excellent. We LOVE this restaurant and tour guide said it's one of his favorite 5 in Italy. Enjoy!

Our waiter was great, very nice and spoke great English which was helpful when we didn't fully understand the Italian menu. Alberto was very friendly as well. The best of the dishes we thought were the crocchette di baccalà fritto, the tonarello con Guanciale croccante, pecorino, e tartufo scorzone, coniglio porchettato, tagliata di pollo, and the cheesecake was phenomenal. The vino rosso della cassa was an excellent Merlot from Lazio. Highly recommend if you're near Viterbo. The only negative was there were 2 Google pins for it, and it took us to the wrong location at first so then we were running late and confused but the people on the street and in other bars along the way helped us get there.
