While having a beer at Lakehead Brewery, the bartenders gave us some dinner ideas. We chose Nook; I had already read about it during an internet search. My peperoni pizza was delicious and my wife's pasta was also delicious. We brought half of the meals home. Service was very good. Servers were helpful and professional. We really enjoyed the "openess" of indoor dining area. There were no tables available on the patio. Nice vibe with people talking and enjoying their meals. If we lived in the area, the Nook would be on our "go to" list. I highly recommend.

Music was too loud and had to request it be turned down a number of times and then the waitress was "snappy" to us when we asked again. Waiter did not smile once during the time we were there. Lovely back yard patio, but when busy maybe the staff feel the pressure. We will try it again to give it a fair comparison.

While some things were similar / familiar (e.g., garlic sauce), I do have to say my meal didn't live up to the original. The chicken shawarma meat was rather dry and the meal itself was a bit more bland than I had remembered. But the portion size for the plate was generous -- I guess standard for the cost of it. The salad was fresh. I was hoping that the grilled pineapple would really enhance the dish, but it didn't so would recommend skipping the premium add. The wrap was also pretty underwhelming. The cashier made a mistake with our order / payment, but was courteous in correcting it promptly when we noted it. All in all, I'd love to see Osmow's up their shawarma game!

We always ask locals and consult Yelp when looking for places to eat and have local/craft beer. We decided on Madhouse. It was a great experience. At first we weren't sure about eating there, so we sat at the bar to have a beer and look at the menu. The bartender was immediately cordial and welcoming. As we enjoyed a hazy IPA we struck up a conversation with her and looked at the menu. Another guy was at the bar and we struck up a conversation with him. The bartender and waitstaff seemed to know him well, so I asked if he worked there. He was the head chef. By the time we ate and left it was like we were old friends. Really enjoyed talking with them and getting some ideas for an early dinner. We decided to start with the beer cheese, nothing like I have ever experienced. It was very good and the pretzels were hot and fresh. An excellent appetizer. Then we split and order of tacos. Since the chicken tacos were a special of the day, we split an order of two and a side of fries. Does Canada celebrate Taco Tuesday? The tacos were excellent and a delicious twist on the ones we are accustomed to in Texas. We enjoyed the entire visit...food, beer, and conversation. I gave them each an American two dollar bill and they had never seen one. Win Win. I highly recommend this place. The bar became busy and cheerful, but not loud and boisterous. I'm glad we went there.

We asked for a table near the window, so we could look out and enjoy the view of the bay but it needed to be cleared. The waitress seamed irritated by this and told us to go sit in the lobby and wait until it was clear. A second waitress came to seat us was not as grumpy but still seamed a bit off. We ordered a burger and a salad, basic items. The burger was overcooked, we asked for a salad with mixed green garden lettuce, but it was served with just Romain lettuce, And finally, we found a hair in the salad. They took 20% off the bill but it was still gross. I heard the table behind us behind us complaining about their food as well and they got 20% knocked off their bill for something that went wrong. We were definitely disappointed with the high prices that this restaurant charges and the quality of food we were presented with With so many incredible restaurants within walking distance, being in this high-end neighborhood and associated with the Marriott hotels, this restaurant is way off brand.
