Day three of the Staycation...Maltz Museum. I love that the tone of this museum is celebrating success and community. It is not a somber, sad place. The exhibits do cover Holocaust information but there is a much more uplifting message of success through shared community and faith. Cleveland is one of the largest Jewish communities in the country and can boast many and varied success stories. Much of the cities success is owed to the industriousness and support of our Jewish citizens. The first section I toured was filled with beautiful and sacred objects symbolizing the worship of the Jewish faith. From items used in Temple celebrations to every day objects used to practice faith at home the artistry and heritage is beautifully displayed. You gain a picture of religious based celebrations as well as life events such as birth, marriage and funerary practices. Many objects are donated by local Jewish families whose names you may recognize The second area of exhibits open to tour covers the Jewish history and heritage from prewar Nazi escapism to present day success. I learned many facts about the community development of Cleveland and how difficult the immigration process was for people of faith at that time. Hollywood, music industry, clothing manufacture, law firms and banking endeavors are all areas of strength in the community. This was a nice, interesting and educational day. There is a lot to read and see. Give yourself several hours or go in two trips, one for each section. Admission is just $10 for summer months, usually $12. Parking is free and close to the museum. Staff was helpful and informative.

Very impressed by the breadth of exhibits and their use of space. Entering in, there is a wonderful selection of Jewish history right here in Cleveland. I loved looking at the old photos and learning about some if the immigrants that first came to the area. The rest of the museum had informative videos and a great mix of local stories and world tragedies. The special exhibit that was there when I went through was about nazi propaganda. It put perspective when you think "how could this ever happen" It was overall an emotional experience. Very worth the trip. (And if you have kids, unwind at Preston's Hope just on the other side of the J.)

The building itself is stunning, with great architecture and tons of natural light that makes walking through the galleries feel really open and peaceful. They have works from Monet and other well known artists, which was really exciting to see in person. There's a lot to explore, so I'd recommend setting aside a few hours to really take it all in. Just make sure to plan your timing because they close at 5 PM. The staff throughout the museum were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. There's also a large gift shop with lots of unique items and a cafe inside the museum, which is nice if you want to take a break during your visit.

At these events food alcohol nonalcoholic beverages are served. I say this because most responsible people call Ubers/Rides to pick them up safely, well when the event was over at 10 people picked up there things at coat check and proceeded to the vestibule to wait on their rides and Ubers. This was around 10-10:30 pm and the police that were hired at event forced everyone to stand outside. Keep in mind it was about 6 degrees in Cleveland. I understand the event was over and they had to close but grace should've been given considering the weather. Although the event was nice maybe you shouldn't attend in the winter because they'll put you out.

I've been to my fair share of natural history museums, and while this one is compact, it is very modern and packs a punch! When you enter, you're immediately greeted by a giant dinosaur and that set the tone for the whole visit, I felt like I kept seeing dinosaur bones everywhere! It took me a moment to orient myself to the museum layout, but looking back it's pretty compact and I could've easily wandered and enjoyed most of the museum in a couple hours. I especially enjoyed how interactive the earth section was, and this is silly but sit on those rock-looking cushions - they are SO comfortable! The little planetarium area was also very cool, and I would consider seeing a show in there next time! The dioramas are by far the most beautiful/engaging I've seen, and with between the fish video cave and the outdoor animal area, I felt like I also got a mini trip to the aquarium and the zoo. Overall I had an amazing time and this spot is super baby/toddler friendly! Note: If you have ASTC membership, admission is included! As a non museum member, I'd recommend street parking. It's much cheaper than the flat rate garage fare.

There are SO MANY rooms and interactive things to do & keep busy! Ohio animals/bugs, planets, body system, fish, birds, coyotes, otters, etc!!!!! They have a movie theater that shows different short movies (~ 30-45 mins) & a planetarium - sadly we missed the shows for the planetarium... BUT we will be back!! We watched a T-Rex film that I will say, I thought was going to be dumb.... But again was actually so cool! Do not underestimate this museum! Plus Cuyahoga county residents get in for free on the weekends & according to their events page.. they hold SO many fun activities for kids and adults - like yoga! I cannot wait to come back & explore this place again (especially the planetarium) & participate in some of there events! Thank you for the sweetest staff & a great day!

The building is gorgeous!) It did need to have better signage throughout and I wish the layout was a bit less random as we kept circling back and forth and not knowing what we had and had not seen. Anyway, as of August 2025, the cost was $15 a ticket per adult for entry. The Hay-McKinney Mansion was included in the ticket price. We probably should have waited to go in a free tour because information was scarce. I liked touring the mansion but I had a much better time going through the non mansion of the museum complex. I am glad we were able to attend the doll exhibit before it went away later that month. I grew up collecting American Girl dolls and Madame Alexander dolls and this filled me with nostalgia. I also loved the fashion in WWII exhibits. The outfits were fabulous! They closed off a gallery and the outside for a wedding that was about to begin. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I wish I could have been invited, lol. There were also temporary exhibits on black photographers, women in politics, mini bikes, the superman hum vee from the 2025 I had a good time looking through the Crawford auto aviation museum and of course, riding the massive and free, carousel! It's almost 125 years old and cost 3 million dollars to restore and each horse is hand carved out of wood. The ride is a must-do for all ages! Overall, a good local city museum with some awesome things inside.

During one of our first dates, she commented that I knew more about her hone state than she did. Though I doubt that was the case, I had made it a point to learn about the place that my broadcast career took me at the time. Had I been moving to Cleveland, this would have been the spot to learn more about the city and area. My daughter is here as a patient of the Cleveland Clinic. She awaits a transplant and has lived here for a few months already (in Parma). I took a quick weekend trip here to visit her and learn more about the culture. This museum offered a wonderful crash course. I've always thought of this town as the dingy, cold locale for unfortunate fans of the Browns and Indians. I was totally wrong. In fact, Cleveland was very much a player in our country's industrial age. (Far more than my home state of Texas!) Detroit seems to get all the credit for the automobile industry, but Ohio -- particularly Cleveland -- really got there for the cash. Who knew? There are other parts of this museum that left me asking 'Why?' The motorcycle display, while pretty cool, doesn't have much to do with Cleveland any more than any other place. Some of the art ... same thing. Still, you'll learn more about Euclid Avenue than you ever thought possible, and the carousel is a marvelous piece of history.

It's a super cool shape and all glass on the outside. Near it is another giant piece of public art, a big hand. Parking can be a little difficult around the museum as it's a pretty walkable area, but there are a few pay lots within walking distance. The museum is 4 floors I believe and has constantly rotating exhibits. They don't collect or keep any pieces which makes each visit a new experience. The exhibits are typically interesting and sometimes they feature local artists. I've attended a few events here which are usually pretty cool. They have a large open space perfect for a dance floor, wedding, or any type party of event. They also have a cool gallery hall where they usually set-up the bar. You have to bring in for your own events of course. But another cool thing is that the museum is free and open to all Ohio residents Friday-Sunday!

Unfortunately, it really was unimpressive. I'm not a modern art person, but I've seen much better than this. The top of the stairs led to a bizarrely pointless overlook of very little of the interior. The most artsy exhibit had some abstract paintings that looked kind of cool but didn't photograph well. Another floor felt like it was basically a dare to dislike the art, with text framing the artist's identity as if this was very important, but the actual exhibit being childishly unoriginal and aesthetically bankrupt. Maybe future exhibits will be better, but the other reviewers don't give me a ton of confidence about whoever's making creative decisions here. The view of the neighborhood was nice, but I found that I spent barely half an hour trying really hard to get something out of the museum before giving up, and it really wasn't worth the time or money that I spent on it. And it was free!
