Our son is diagnosed with a severe learning disability and was having a very hard time learning to read. When he started 2nd grade he was still reading at kindergarten level despite seeing a resource specialist for 3 hours a week at school. Around the middle of the 2nd grade, we were referred to Jill Greenberg and thought - "why not", even though we live an hour's drive away.
In our first session, Jill did an assessment and determined what are the weak points in the skill set required to be a successful reader and tailored an individual plan designed to strengthen these points. We continued to see Jill on a weekly basis. During that time Jill proved to be both creative and flexible and continually adjusted the plan to fit our needs and our son's progress level. After a few months, our son started showing improvement in his reading ability (and that's after 2 years of basically standing still despite the school's best efforts). During the time we were seeing Jill, She was in continuous contact with our son's school specialist and provided guidance and strategies as well as coordinated the workload. Fast forward to the beginning of 4th grade, he is now reading at grade level, and he is reading for pleasure, and his self-esteem is much improved, which is probably just as important.
For our family, Jill has simply been a life saver. If your child is having a hard time with reading, writing or math and school can't help, it is not the end of the road. It may take a lot of work but Jill has the roadmap to success. To top it all off, her rates are very reasonable. read more
