There are rules that have to be followed for the safety of all. This is a place for grown folks that just want to get together and chill without a couch. There is no booze or a kitchen but they did have snacks and drinks for sale...and they allow food order/delivery. When we arrived were greeted immediately and all expectations were conveyed upon entry. We signed a waiver and received instructions and tips on how to throw and play the games. We were given opportunity to ask questions and were able to call for referee assistance to address the issues of great competition. It was all fun and laughter as the professionals threw their axes in the lane next to us. Did you know there is an ax throwing league? We'll, there is but they didn't need a handicap like in bowling so I didn't qualify. Anyway, we came out for my sons 30th birthday and I promise, I let him win in honor of his special day. There were four of us in our group and I scored a consistent zero so the others wouldn't feel intimidated. We played several games that included the ax of different sizes and ninja stars...or whatever they are called. The stars, of course, was my favorite because I was able to get them to stick to the board more often. If you've never thrown an ax before, you should this. It's competitive for sure and a good workout for the arms, back and core...and it's a lot of fun, even when you consistently score low numbers. I had a blast and we'll be coming back sure. Thumbs up to Real Axe Throwing of Springfield, the city of Springfield and the entrepreneurs that keep bringing us fun things to do in Central Illinois. They also offer fun passes, which saves money in the long run if you plan to go often. 6 month pass for 1 child is $120 and a 12 month pass for 1 child is $220. 2 children for the 6 month pass is 170 and 2 children for the 12 month pass is $320 and so on. They have up to 4-6 kid packages and I'm sure they have more if you need it. They also have prepaid fun passes which is a punch card for $100. 10 punches allows you to bring 1 or more children at a time. Regular price for 10 entries is $150, so you're getting $50 off. 1 punch = 1 child and 1 adult entry. No expiration dates. My 15 month old has loved this place since she was 8 months old. They have plenty of rooms and things to do. I definitely recommend it here. It is mostly clean but certain areas could be maintained a little better.

There were no signs regarding age, so I saw no reason to refuse. There was another little boy about three back there, too. Both of them got up in the structure, couldn't see their mom and grandma and wanted to come out. The complexity of the structure made it confusing to find their way out and they both started screaming for us and panicked. The man at the front desk just kept on reading his book or phone and ignored the chaos. I am way too old to try to climb up into the thing so I was lucky that the young mother retrieved her son then went after my little guy. Much better supervision is needed there. I won't be back.

We are avid 3D printers so it was fun to see all the different things that were in there. Also, I cant forget to mention our game master, Julia, she was SO awesome, very friendly & helpful. Review Visit: May 12th, 2015…read more Iles park is about as park-y as you can get. It has your typical gazebo/pavilion where you can host birthday parties. There is some playground equipment for the kids to burn their excess energy on. There are some open acreage where you can have a picnic, play hacky sack, throw some frisbees, fly some kites, and various other outdoor activities. Besides all that, there really isn't much else to say about Iles. It seems to be a great spot to hang out with the kids or go on a walk with your significant other.

Since then, at least three new major centers have opened along with numerous strip mall storefront operations. So the gym attendance is way down. The tennis operation seems to be going strong, with many classes. Except for the storefront operations, the hours are among the best in the city. In other words it's a great place for someone who joins for the workouts and not for social networking or lots of scheduled exercise classes. Rarely have to wait for machines or other equipment. The owners have recently remodeled/refurbished the locker rooms and other parts of the facility. The Center has an outdoor pool and summer program for kids that is well organized and well attended. More importantly, imo, the center is gifted with the best and most qualified trainer in the city, Linda H. A Masters degree in the field and more than 25 (?) years of experience. Linda leads excellent classes with a good eye for how individual students can improve their fitness routine. She's especially good for older clients whose joints and muscles have lost some of their resilience --- a sharp eye for how individual students are doing, For me another important feature is the clientele consists of ordinary, down to earth people. More Vans, family sedans and trucks in parking lot than flashy new cars. Little evidence of high-tech or fashionable work-out attire. I do not know the owners or staff members, except for Linda H. No personal motive for writing this review except to correct some false negative impressions given in a couple Google reviews. One thing I recently learned is that the SRFC is for sale. In a news paper interview the owners state the indoor tennis courts are the only ones in the area (outside of schools) and are the major sales attraction. They expect the buyers to continue operations much as is.
