So why divide it in the first place then? The answer can be found in the atmosphere: although this is one big location, and only recently reopened, the separation has always been in place. On the right hand side you have a loft-style room, with a bar that is set like an island into the middle of the room. You can sit at the bar itself, or at the few tables that are scattered around it. You have barkeepers serving you your favourite drinks, and yes, you can also order your food from the restaurant side. But this is essentially a bar. On the other side, you have a proper sit-down restaurant. They serve burgers, currywurst (German curry sausage...kinda) and a few other things, and pretty decent sweet potato chips (fries). Of course you can also order drinks here, but the idea is that you have the atmosphere of a proper restaurant, with a waiter serving you at your table, etc. So my recommendation for this place is the following: start on the left, make sure you get some decent food in first (as a foundation for what is to come), then change to the right, and get that booze flowing. We sat in the middle of the restaurant on high chairs - that is something I would not repeat, and instead try to get a table near one of the walls with proper seating. Ciro also has various places to relax in that they have a corner "comfy area" or the bar or the tables in the back corner. All in all, a very chill place to enjoy a drink or something light to eat. The staff and owner were very pleasant and engaged in conversation while making sure I was taken care of, a great plus in this type of atmosphere. Ciro has quite an extensive menu of mixed drinks, cocktails, liquors, beers, etc. to choose from, so many choices! It has a small book of drinks and libation selections, and there is something for everyone to enjoy at Ciro. I settled on a whiskey sour (very good) and then had a beer with my sandwich I ordered. The sandwich was HUGE and very satisfying, thumbs up. I relaxed after my meal and enjoyed the cafe atmosphere while finishing my drink. Bottom line: Very relaxing and pleasing lounge/cafe/bar atmosphere in Erlangen. Great to get a drink and chill out for a while or get a small bite to eat. I usually don't like cocktails with alcohol, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the menu and there were two pages full of non-alcoholic but not less awesome sounding cocktails! They serve everything from the classics to more exotic drinks, cocktails, longdrinks, flips (egg in a drink? Seriously, this is so disgusting!!) and many more... Our waitress was absolutely friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and thankfully it's not as loud and crowded as in other places around town! Oh and you always get crisps to munch on while waiting for your cocktails! And all that for decent prices! For the After Business Dinner or a party it is possible to have more privacy on the second floor. Reservation and negotiation of the menu aforehand is required, however. Cocktails in this bar are best in town. If you are not sure which one to choose, ask the waitress resp. the waiter. They help you out with suggestions in case you can't decide :) Busy location on the weekends, so it is always good to make a reservation. I love this place, try it out and get your own insights! :)
