When I think of Malibu, I think of surfing and of course filthy rich people. I got to see both here. The homes that line this stretch of beach are nothing short of spectacular. I love cruising down the PCH and taking in the breeze when I drive through Malibu. Malibu is so pretty with the Pacific Ocean on the south side and the mountains to the north. It is home to lots of celebrities and many upper-middle-class neighborhoods. Malibu Beach or Surfrider Beach is the first World Surfing Reserve and has a small pier. Pepperdine University is nearby and is a short drive from Malibu Beach. Of all of the beaches in Malibu, Zuma Beach is the largest and most popular and is about 10 miles away. I have stayed in Santa Monica on many occasions and have done the drive through Malibu to Ventura or Santa Barbara. I like to stop over at Neptune's Net and grab some seafood along the way. Then I'll walk across the street and sit on one of the benches and enjoy the view. read more

Love the coastal access with a good amount of street parking. The sign says no dogs but people still bring their dogs which make the beach 100x better. The views are great and it's not too crowded. read more

I rarely go to the beach in L.A., but I needed something to do with Leo B. on his third birthday, and we ended up going to Malibu Beach with his little three-year-old best friend. I think it was my first time there, or at least my first since I was a child. It was quite nice. We went on a Wednesday during spring break, and it was pretty quiet and relaxing at 11 in the morning, though that might've been because we were on a semi-private stretch behind the Malibu Beach Inn. There was a pay lot with easy parking, and all in all a lot less aggravation than I typically associate with a beach day (though let's not talk about the drive home through afternoon traffic). The beach was very pretty, and both of my kids enjoyed it, even if all the baby did was stare out at the ocean. Leo had a blast with his buddy, and was even emboldened to step, just once and very briefly, into the water. He spent hours playing in the sand. When his friend's mom made her boy into a merman, by giving him a fin of sand, Leo demanded that I make him a chicken. I did my best, but chicken claws aren't the easiest to shape out of sand. We had a great time at Malibu Beach. I suppose I have to go to the beach more often now that I have kids, so it's good to have an option that isn't a crowded nightmare. read more

Came here as it was my first time in Malibu. Definitely met my expectations. Absolutely beautiful at sunset with great views. There is tons of side street parking so if you can't find a spot in the lot, don't fret. One thing I will say is despite the size, it's more crowded than I expected. So bear that in mind if you want more of a quiet day at the beach. read more

I had an amazing time at the beach today. The sand was so clean and soft. The entire beach pristine. The water is much more clear than I imagined it would be. It's a great place for viewing the sunset. Lost a star because their pay machines aren't working and it took all cars about 10 minutes each to use to machine to be let in. It was extremely frustrating. Please fix that! But lovely beach and views. Hardly anyone around. Very peaceful Experience. read more

I actually enjoy coming to this beach. It's one of the places you must visit living in Los Angeles and it's less crowded than Santa Monica and Venice Beach without all of the riff-raff you'll find in those areas. If you want to spend the day watching surfers catch some waves, this is definitely the area. There's a secret spot where most of the surfers go and it's a very cool beach to visit and walk on especially at night. The majority of the beach going north up through PCH is lined with multi-million dollar homes that are both unique and picturesque. And of course, you can't forget the gorgeous Santa Monica mountains that provide an amazing backdrop while you're strolling or swimming in the ocean. Just an FYI, the water is pretty cold year around and the temperatures in the area drop pretty quickly. If you're going to stay all day, definitely bring a sweater or a hoodie because you'll need it. I had a great time in malibu beach today. The waves were cold and nice. I was in awe at the beauty infront of me. I haven't been by P.C.H in literally years and being surrounded by the mountains and nature gave me such bliss. I was at peace in my time there. I went to then rest by the sand and then to my surprise was hit by a big wave that reached the area I was resting at. It got my shoes wet but I did not mind at all. I then went to go jog for 30 minutes. I was exhausted by the end, but was glad I came and conquered!! read more

SO look its really simple. If you are in public wear a mask. We were driving by to hit up Pepperdine University and pulled into the parking lot to simply scope out the area. At least half the people there were NOT wearing masks and people were packed close enough to make a nun intervene if it were a Catholic School Dance. Can't believe I'm going to say this but here it is...way overrated and what I saw was actual trash on the beach along with God knows what else is on there. The lagoon area looks very dirty and feels like it hasn't been cleaned up along with trash on there. This is really Malibu beach? I would have thought it was more like Venice beach. read more

There is a Hole music video titled Malibu which is the closest I've gotten till this day. Driving down the scenic 1 highway from Santa Maria we made it to Malibu as the sun was about to set. Sea air was as fresh as it gets in LA. I see the mansions of the rich and famous on the hillside and beach. I admire the million dollar views from the viewpoint. I see the lovely sand glisten as the waves lap along the shore. Sun silhouettes palm trees just off the beach. Golden light illuminates this iconic beach town. I watch as the red sun slow sinks into the sea. Left behind is a reddish orange glow. Beautiful. Air grows chill as darkness envelops us. I get back in my car to drive home. LA traffic is terrible but I'd drive through it to watch another Malibu sunset. Review #700 read more

There is nothing quite like a getaway to Malibu. Just a few miles from busy and overfilled Santa Monica, you find this serene paradise, the air is instantly better. Beautiful climate, gorgeous beach, you feel at ease right away and all worries wash away with the waves. Parking is metered, best to go early before it fills up. Had a lucky New Year's Day rendez-vous with a good buddy and his family here. The sun tagged along for the whole day and really added a necessary respite from the winter chill in the air. Yo, it's California winter y'all ~ 60 degrees makes me shiver. In truth, I bet three Alzheimer ice-water bucket dunkings (remember this was a thing) that the ocean was warmer than the air that day. We did an obligatory low tide crawl with the kiddies and we were rewarded with shells, anemones, some GiNormous sea slugs (seriously, I'll add a photo) and for whatever reason bunches and bunches of empty lobster shells. Either the wave action did a number on the local population of native lobsters or somebody ate up a big ol' feast nearby and chucked them bad boys off their balconies. The beach we were strolling was immediately adjacent to the backyards of the rich and famous row houses beachside ... you get my drift. Anyhoo, it was awesome to be away from crowds and although I'll likely never be under the Paparazzi's lens anytime soon, I could def feel this was the way to relax from a stressful week or month or whatever. While living in LA I had the opportunity to go to so many beaches and I have to say that Malibu Beach is pretty up there with my love for Santa Monica beach. I have probably been there too many times to count. However, Malibu is definitely low key compared to the Santa Monica beach. The pier is smaller and does not have the awesome stuff the other piers have. If you want a beach to yourself and a possible celebrity spotting I definitely recommend to come to Malibu and enjoy the beach. The drive to Malibu Beach on the PCH is amazing and beautiful, you will be in awe of how much this little beach town has to offer. I recommend to at least give Malibu Beach a try if you want a low key beach session with you and the waves. However, parking can definitely be a hassle but there is ample street parking where you have to park on the side of the road. There is beach parking but it is a hit or miss if you don't mind walking all over the place. There are a few healthy food places on the pier and it is strange to see a Jack and Box or Mc Donald's right across the beach, but it is there. Worth the drive and time! Come check it out! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE bringing my pups here. I am a local dog nanny, and a bunch of my clients lives right here on the beach, so safe to say I spend a lot of time here. This beach tends to be pretty clean, for some reason every now and ten we get people who don't live here who I will catch leaving plastic behind. Every n o and ten I will come out with a trash bag when I see them leaving their trash, and ill clean up, basically in a nice way of letting them know, you may not care, but we do. Anyway, this beach is extremely beautiful and sunset, and sunrise sometimes, but most sunrises its a bit overcast. Tends to sunny up around 11-noon. read more

Granted, it was a horribly wet and rainy day, but we did stop and try to look around. The surfers make Malibu cool. Unless you know a local I'd avoid all local businesses except the surf shops as this area attracts a lot of douche bags and is super charmless (a noisy freeway makes the cafes vibe less) the beach is cool early morning. read more

So I've got a little secret. There's an awesome little beach spot, kitty-corner from Neptune's Net, past the public parking & in between the crescent shaped jettys. This is one of the most awesome, serene spots away from all the usual hustle & bustle on a beach that I've ever seen. You can watch the amazing surfers catching their gnarley waves & you'll practically have the spot almost all to yourself. The gorgeous blue sky almost matches the equally gorgeous water here & every picture looks awesome against this backdrop. It's truly magical! That is until ya find out that if ya gotta go, you're gonna be using a really bad porta potty. Even the restrooms at Neptune's Net are porty potties, but you can make a quick stop at Mckey D's (it's on the right on the way up) and you'll avoid that hiccup. This cool little beach spot is SO worth it. Happy beach going! read more

Around LA I'm always weary about going to a beach and being pricked by a used syringe so this place has been my safe haven, it's clean and one of the remaining spots that isn't over ran by the homeless population. As for parking...get ready to practice patience. You might have to flip a few U-turns and keep driving up and down the streets in order to snag a spot. But if you can endure the parking process, you're in for a treat! Soft fine sand and views that are UNobstructed by oil rigs and cargo ships, a rare find these days. Just don't forget your sunscreen...I swear the UV rays here are stronger than most. read more

I was really disappointed because the weather didn't permit me to see the whole beauty of this beach. It was so foggy that it was hard to see much, but what I could see.. everything was beautiful. I love the clear water and wish to get closer, but parking can be a hassle, but once you've found a spot, then walking shouldn't be too bad. The beach looked nice and clean and I definitely will be back to stay longer. I really want to take a walk on the sand and spend a day watching the view when it's a lot clearer. read more

Very pretty beach, we came here for the first time years ago and enjoyed ourselves. Came back again this past weekend and it was crazy busy, but the beach was still in pristine condition. Traffic to get here sucks and parking is a pain but it's worth it for this beach. We were able to enjoy it from the boat as well. We anchored the boat and all jumped into the water to swim, it was really nice though the water was cold. There were tons of paddle boarders around, but lots of fun nonetheless. read more

A MUST DO! 4&1/3 STARS! You can't say it any better than the famous Malibu Welcoming Sign. It says 21 Miles of Scenic Beauty. That's in it in a Nutshell. There are beautiful views of The California Coastline, The Pacific Ocean & The Santa Monica Mountains. There are paid parking lots @ some beaches but there are also Free places you can just pull your car into along PCH & Park. There's a bunch of different picturesque beaches. The Rocky beaches are particularly Beautiful. One of the best parts of visiting or living here is that there are lots of one of a kind stores & restaurants here. There is a limited amount of chain stores which gives it a great small town beachy feeling. There are a ton of Beautiful Unique Multi Million Dollar Homes & lots of celebrities live here. There is also a section of Malibu that feels like it's stuck in the 60s & 70s & has never changed. I like the eclectic mix of Modern with a Throwback Vibe. Malibu is close to LA but far enough away at the same time. My favorite parts of Malibu are the little niches that not too many people know about that aren't touristy & off the beaten path. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have The Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've Been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like A King On A Limited Budget! read more
