One day I went in with so much pain and all I hear as I'm laying down is him out in the area with the nurses talking so loudly and so obnoxiously I wanted to scream! At one point I started to just leave! His personality is just too over the top for me. He never seemed to be genuinely concerned for my pain. My mother didn't like him. He also added a Mammogram facility which makes it easier to have both exams combined on the same day, and saves much time. This facility uses the latest technology for their patients, which has helped me as a patient. Dr. Bernal has been my Dr for over 30 years and has always been the most compassionate , kind, tender and knowledgeable Dr. I have ever known. He is highly respected amongst his peers and Dr's recommend him to their own family. I am blessed to have him all these years and because of him I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a very early stage. First of all, she is an incredibly knowledgeable doctor. She is up-to-date on the most current recommendations and practices, and never had trouble answering any of my questions. Also, she has a wonderful bedside manner. She is very friendly and very professional. She always comes in, shakes your hand and smiles at you. She sits down and asks how you're doing and then, more importantly, LISTENS to your answer. She never seems to be in a rush to get out of the room, and yet somehow manages to run on time most days. She never makes you feel stupid for asking any question (and you have a lot when you're pregnant!). I delivered my first child with her, and it was a wonderful experience. My husband (who has a general dislike for most doctors) couldn't say enough about her and how great she was. I delivered my second baby with one of the other doctors in the practice, and he was good too. But I wish she'd been on call for that delivery because I preferred her. Her staff is fantastic. The nurses are so sweet and friendly and put you at ease immediately. The receptionists are also great. I actually found myself missing them when I had my baby and didn't have to go in monthly (weekly at the end) for check-ups. I joked with them that I missed them so much that I got pregnant again quickly so I could see them more often. I would (and have) recommend Dr. Crooks to many of my friends and family. I am so glad I found a good OB/GYN at last!

It took me some time to write this review because I was embarrassed and felt deeply disrespected during several of my appointments. For example, after one exam, he asked me, "Was it good for you as it was for me?" I immediately told him that he needed to stop talking to me that way because it made me very uncomfortable. He brushed it off, saying he was "just joking," and laughed. When I reported the incident to the nurse and office manager, they excused it as "just his personality" and laughed as well, which made me feel even more dismissed. After most exams, he would stand in the hallway speaking into his recorder. Even though he spoke softly, I could often still hear what he was saying while walking to the bathroom or checking out. He frequently made jokes at inappropriate times, which made me feel uneasy and disrespected. During my last visit--at the height of COVID--he and I had a heated argument, and he left the room before completing my exam. He sent one of his interns to finish instead. She apologized for his behavior and told me she was glad I stood up for myself. I was not surprised when I later read other reviews describing experiences similar to mine. Dr. Stevenson, knows I'm being truthful, and I sincerely hope he realize his behavior has real consequences. Patients deserve to feel respected, safe, and valued in his care.
