When I opened up this website today, all I saw were three one-star ratings. I cannot agree with them based on my overall good experiences at MAKI's in Gardner. I have used them for everything from purchasing a 12' ladder to hardware, fasteners, and lumber as well as miscellaneous tools and sawblades and drill bits. The team at Maki's has always been helpful to me and my wife and I recommend them and their policies. Returns have been easy as well. Overall, I will continue to use Maki for my hoime building and repair needs. read more

I always buy local and avoid the big box stores as much as possible. However, after many visits to Maki home center in Gardner, I'll drive to Home Depot or Lowes. Your customer service at the counter is horrible! That woman couldn't get a worse attitude! Not everyone that comes in your store is a professional contractor. So,questions shouldn't be met with an Answer with a horrible attitude. I'll take my money elsewhere. I would like to add that the employee at the gate was great and I completely appreciated his assistance. That's why you got one star at all. read more

I flip houses for a living so I am constantly in and out of hardware stores and lumber yards and this place has by far the WORST!!! customer service I've ever seen. The guy John behind the counter has No business working in customer service. Drive right by and go to the depot. Do t let this place ruin your day like it did mine! read more

MAKI's is very picky about its lumber so it was a refreshing surprise when I bought pressure-treated for my decking and interior lumber like 1x6's for a project. They make their own windows and doors right in Gardner MA and I've noticed that the staff even helps people calculate the exact size of what beam is needed to go over a living area etc. I've met the owner and his son and I know their first priority is selling good stuff that lasts. Where so many companies today are focused on how to make the most money, I like that MAKI is different. For customer service, they seem to hire people who are competent, kind, and honest rather than those who are slick and all smiles. So if you are used to the smile at them and take their money attitude of the big box stores, Maki's may sometimes feel different. But trust me, in the long run, it's well worth dealing with an honest business who will sell you high quality products your customers won't complain about, or if you are a homeowner like me, you can have piece of mind buying there.
