Rick did my wedding makeup along with 2 bridesmaids and I was so happy with how we all turned out! He is very responsive, professional and does amazing work! My makeup did not feel heavy and looked great all night. He also convinced my mom to let him do something to her so she wouldn't looked washed out in photos. I attended a local fundraiser with my husband last fall and he bid on and won a "makeup session" with Rick for me. My husband has done things like this in the past for me like a surprising me with a complete spa day with a makeover at salons in the past (both in Louisville and in New York City where we moved form), but they have been of little help to actually "teach" me things that I can use day-to-day or give me advice on products beyond their own lines. (More to come on that). I arrived at Rick's lovely condo with my shameful and outdated makeup bag in tow. Rick and I traded several emails before I arrived so that he could get a sense for what I was interested in. When I arrived he was very easy to talk to and immediately put me at ease (despite my embarrassment that my makeup bag was outdated and in desperate need of help). He sat me down and started with skin care and provided some guidance about moisturizers and eye cremes (yes, I'm in my 30's and am afraid to admit that I need wrinkle cream advice). I will admit that I'm completely overwhelmed by the options out there, so I've avoided them all. He gave me some advice and gave me some guidance for my next moisturizer purchase. From there we started talking about what my daily regiment was and how he could assist. I admitted that despite the fact that I wear makeup everyday, I desperately needed a product update and could stand to learn some new "tips" on how to apply. I also stressed that understanding what products are made of and avoiding the "toxic 12" were important to me. Rick immediately pulled out his (awesome!) makeup kit and gave me a quick lesson on how to go from a simple eye shadow application to something appropriate for work to something applicable for the weekends. He gave me lessons on one eye and then let me try on the other eye. Through this we discussed what products I was interested in updating and upgrading in my makeup bag. From there he asked if I was up for a shopping trip! I said "of course! I've been hoping you would suggest that!" So we headed to Sephora at the mall. From the minute we walked in the door it was obvious that Rick is well known (and respected). Every sales person on the floor came up and warmly greeted him. The shopping experience was great. Again, Rick helped me navigate the (somewhat frightening) aisles of Sephora to find the right products for me. He isn't loyal to any one brand and was very up front about what works and what doesn't. Again, my requirements were avoid the toxic 12 and it must be "travel friendly" (I travel for work so under 3oz's is key). He gave me options and opinions on what colors worked well with my coloring. He also respected my "I won't ever use that" feedback. Overall I couldn't have been more thrilled with the time I spent with Rick. The past few weeks I've felt very sophisticated with my new makeup and new looks and my husband has remarked multiple times, wow...your makeup looks fantastic! I will use Rick in the future if I have a "special event" and the next time my make-up bag is feeling dismal and outdated, I will be scheduling an appointment with him! I can't recommend him enough! First time I've ever had a real makeup lesson. Rick was amazing. Very approachable and he made it very easy to understand the tricks for making your makeup look so flawless...even with my imperfect skin! I wish I had done this a long time ago. He is so talented. My makeup has never looked like what he was able to accomplished. I always wondered how girls get their foundation and eyes to look so stunning and now I know! So Rick is literally the best make up artist ever! I am that girl that only goes out with professional makeup whether it's just dinner or an event. I find a makeup artist in every town I travel too. Being from NY I'm used to really great artists. And when I travel it's usually 1 in 10 are ok... so I expected being in Kentucky for the breeders cup I would have to help coach the artist along the way to get my signature look... Rick first of all let me explain my look and was patient with me. Then he started and asked me to take a look to see if he was in the right track. I was floored I looked amazing in the first few steps and he knew my look better than I do and I wear it everyday!! He is sensational!!! Highly highly recommend him! Rick Bancroft is a true artist...magician in my case. The wedding was in August 2019 and it was very hot and humid. We worried about makeup not staying in place. No worries....heat, humidity, sweat and tears and we were all still flawlessly beautiful. From our airbrush to our eyelashes...beautiful. I can't thank you enough, Rick! Fantastic job. Wow, what took me so long to do this? I had a make-up lesson with Rick today and walked away with techniques and tricks that I had never seen or tried. Unlike the make-up "lessons" I've had at cosmetics counters in the past, Rick really TAUGHT me what to do. He would do one side and then coach me while I did the other side. I really learned HOW to apply it and get the results I wanted. And, he sent me home with paperwork as a reminder of what we did, what we used and how we did it. Excellent resource! After the lesson, we headed to Sephora where he helped me pick out the items missing from my make-up bag. No hard sell. No "you gotta have this". Just suggestions and guidance on what colors/products/brushes I might consider. I walked away confident that I had everything I needed to reproduce the "face" that he had created for me. As a bonus, Rick is super nice, fun and listens to what you need and want. I would highly recommend that you give him a try. If he can teach this old dog new tricks, I'm sure he can help you too! On the day of my engagement photo shoot, the girl that was going to do my make up cancelled 30 minutes before our scheduled time. I called Rick and he was able to squeeze me in. Even though it was last minute he did a thorough job. He listened to what look I was going for and made me look fabulous!
